The mythical west Wales tour.

On this tour you are accompanied by a historian with a deep passion and knowledge of Wales. You will learn some Welsh, sample traditional Welsh food and learn about the ancient history and culture of Wales. Gareth, your guide is a fluent Welsh speaker and he will give you an insight into Wales that wouldn't be available with a standard tour operator.
The area we will visit is dotted with quaint old towns and picturesque villages which seem untouched by time. The South West is the home of Pembrokeshire coast national park, and is an area renowned for the beauty of its beaches and coastline. For the lovers of castles there many to discover with Carreg Cennen, Pembroke and Kidwelly being three of the most impressive.
An example of a tour could be a visit to the wonderfully preserved Norman Castle at Pembroke, then lunch in the beautiful medieval port of Tenby followed by a stop off in Laugharne, the former home of the poet Dylan Thomas.

We took or dog and we walked every day for at least 4/5 miles. A short car journey takes you to Mumbles, or around to Llangenith.

We went here after a large lunch to burn off a few of the many calories we had just partaken of. It is a very long beach and gets a bit crowded down by the Beach House restaurant end, but if you wander off away from this, it becomes fairly quiet, with only like minded dog walkers around. It's quite rocky down by the tide line and the dogs loved walking over this, sniffing around the rock pools and running in and out of the sea. It's fairly shallow, so no great risk of them being overwhelmed by the waves. It's touted as a dog friendly beach all year round, but on a 6 mile circular walk, we saw 2 bins. We always pick up after our dogs no matter what the location, but not a bundle of fun carrying it around for an hour.

What a great seaside holiday place. £6 to park for the day but right next to the beach. Michelin starred restaurant on the beach but £32 for a mains excluded us! Wonderful walk along the sand as far as Three Cliffs Bay. Great walk up the cliff through woods to Oxwich Point,or just sit at the foot of the dunes looking out to sea. Small shop on the beach selling everything you need. Oxwich Bay Hotel serving drinks at the end of the beach. Dog friendly. Perfect beach day out.

We enjoyed our visit to Oxwich Bay as usual the beach, scenery and sea views were excellent. We thought the car park at a flat rate of £6 was expensive. The beach toilets were ok, the cafe toilets much better. The weather was spectacular, it unexpectedly came out sunny so our quick stop became a whole day's beach visit with a walk along the sand, fortunately we were able to take our dog onto the beach. We finished our day off with a coffee and ice cream at the nice cafe.
