Probably The Worst Rugby Ground I've Ever Visited.
Feb 2020
I've visited the ground many times over the years, to watch The Whites, Swansea RFC playing club games and several games against touring sides from the Southern Hemisphere. The ground has improved little in recent decades. The problem is that it is also a cricket ground and because of this the east part of the ground has no stand or terracing, but is an open space. The ground lacks atmosphere on match days. The best place from which to watch a game of rugby is from the bar on the north side of the ground.

It's a family affair.

A very good quality multi-choice Sunday buffet lunch can be had at this venue. The staff are friendly and obliging, the main meal is as big as you want to be as it is self-serve apart from the meat, and the price is right - especially for seniors. Very popular with family groups of locals in the know, but open to everyone.

Wasn’t impressed to be honest. Wouldn’t pay to come here again. Overpriced for what you get. Better off watching it from across the road. At least the burgers & chips were nice. But that’s about it really

Grotty ladies toilets

I have visited several times for rugby matches and the toilets have not improved. Dirty, cold and positively off-putting.

Used to watch cricket and rugby at St Helens, way back, and the ground has changed a bit since then.

Watching cricket is still a real pleasure with friendly staff, particularly in the Balconiers' bar, plus the opportunity to wander around the ground and watch, for a while, from different areas. £15 for the day's cricket, scorecard at £1, parking £3.50 and inexpensive beer, what's not to like?

Glamorgan Festival of cricket
May 2018 • Friends
Visited three times. First time Glamorgan CC in their 'wisdom' had grossly underestimated the number of people attending a one day match on a Sunday when the weather had been hot for weeks. Food ran out, bar ran out of most drinks. Missed a financial boost no doubt.

Second time - a month later and a late start due to rain so most had eaten elsewhere so no problems!!

Third time - similar to the first. A sunny Saturday and a match which would last until tea at least. It lasted all day but the bar shut early!!Also it could not show all the world cup football, as the barman did not know where the remote was to change the channels!! Had the muppets on instead! ( it is a sports club!). Actually he did not know where most things were behind the bar either!

No food again as Glamorgan CCC had 'told' the unfortunate bar manager not to order the day before. No wonder the club is such a shambles and a laughing stock on and off the pitch. Must have lost loads of takings

I felt very sorry for the bar manager as she was left holding the baby twice by final decisions made by those who 'know best'. She had to deal with every problem thrown at her single handed. Hardly fair

Mother's Day lunch
Mar 2017 • Family
After booking with the manager on Facebook for a table for 4 people, we were told on arrival that there was no booking for us. I showed the waitress my email confirming my booking, so she had to speak to the Manager. She then came back and cleared a table for us. There was 23 people in the queue for the carvery, with no one at all serving!! After approx 10 minutes, I went out into the corridor and asked the manager what was happening, and he just said he would see where the chef was. We felt so sorry for Matthew the chef, as he was working alone, running back and forth to the kitchen getting meat, Veg, plates, etc all by himself. I hate potatoes in skins on a dinner, but that's my personal preference. There were bits of carrots left, no mint sauce, then no gravy!! I asked a waitress if she could fill them as our food was getting cold. The chef also was calling someone to get him more plates as he had also run out of them. To be fair all the staff were very friendly and polite, the dinner was tasty with real gravy, but the overall organisation was an absolute shambles!! Don't think we'll be returning here👎🏼

Sunday Carvery

A good choice of meats with Beef, Pork and Turkey and a good selection of vegetables. Reasonably priced but I would recommend booking in advance.

Decent dining
Jan 2017 • Couples
The Sunday lunches are awesome. Lovely food and lots of it. The staff a down to earth with no airs and graces but couldn't have been more welcoming. This is not the place for cosy couples to enjoy fine dining but superb for a family wanting to have a decent meal. The access is a little awkward if you are using a wheelchair because you have to use a side entrance but not restrictive. Parking can be awkward so plan ahead as the driver may have to walk back to the club.
