Fireworks 2019
Nov 2019 • Family
As we have been here before a few times we decided to go back again this year, we wish we didnt.
We arrived at 5:30 thinking there were rides for my 11,3 and 5 year old to go on as there were rides there before for them all. They had 2 rides the tea cups and another baby ride. That's it. The music coming off the stage was shocking . Obviously they never done a sound check. So we had 2 hours of waiting around until the fireworks, spent £15 on 3 drinks and a bag of sweets and nothing else to do. The fireworks were not as good as before, we could not wait to leave infact we were the first ones out the gate . Shocking, I wish we went somewhere closer and less money. Wont be going again .

Fun at rugby game
Sep 2019
This is a small regional stadium, well-attended. Typical with outdoor grassy area, indoor there are some concessions, not a great variety. Game lasts about 2 hours.Best seats are affordable, buy ahead.

Rodney parade is in an excellent location, being only a five to ten minute walk from the station and shops. If on foot access it via the beautiful Newport footbridge. The stadium is a mix of old and new and is really a rugby ground, so has a very large “in goal” area at one end. One poor point was the very long queue for food and drink. Still RP is well worth a visit for rugby or football.

Rugby and football
May 2019 • Friends
Rodney Parade is a welsh rugby ground owned by the Welsh Rugby Union. It hosts both Rugby and football with Newport RFU, the Dragons regional rugby club and Newport County FC playing matches on the ground. It is a very close old fashioned ground, intimidating for most visiting teams. A selection of food outlets and bars of which Rodneys bar is the newest, open only for rugby matches. Close transport links, ten minutes to both main line railway station and bus station. It’s not often that you find a city centre ground these days. Plenty of pubs very close to the ground, the Dodger and the Ivy Bush being the closest.

It is a short walk over the modern footbridge from the town centre and multi story car park. The stewards were friendly and directed us round the ground, through the marquee which served food and drink to the ticket office. Inside, the stadium is a mixture of old and new. Open seats and standing at the end, while we sat in the large old stand on the river side. It kept out the wind and rain, but had a few pillars and a low roof which slightly obscured our view, especially of the large video screen in the corner. The food was standard sports stadium fare, while the beer was pretty good, with hand pumped Doom Bar and interesting bottles such as Wye Valley and White Shield.
The crown were restless and a good mix of families with young children as well as the more traditional sports fans, which ensured a nice atmosphere. Hopefully we will be back for a football game in around six weeks and it will be interesting to see how the experience compares.

Great atmosphere.
Oct 2018 • Family
It is always a great atmosphere when coming to watch both football and rugby games. Reasonably priced food and drinks too.
The only thing that lets it down is that it needs better parking facilities.

Good Football/Rugby ground
Jan 2019 • Friends
The place is football/Rugby ground. It is fine for lower division and for the club which is trying to re-establish itself. Good luck Newport.
Facilities was good.
The football pitch was very close to the fans. The view and atmosphere was good.
Toilet facilities was good. The bar and food facilities was also good.

Funny little place to watch Rugby
Nov 2018 • Friends
I came here as an away fan with a few mates for a rugby game and we got terraced tickets as it’s the best way to do it. The ground was tiny but we kinda knew that ahead of the game.

The beer options were pretty standardly average but they weren’t horrendously overpriced which was nice!

The atmosphere was kinda average, there was two times when a try was scored and we didn’t even know because zero pop from the fans, at 1 point after a try when the team went to kick the conversion we just assumed there was a penalty hence the kick but yeah it was the conversion.

It was fun though, I would definitely go back as the away fans that were there were good fun too and it’s probably rocking when Dragons are doing well and more people there.

A rugby ground not a football ground
Nov 2018 • Solo
It stands out that this is a football club having to use a rugby ground out of necessity, not what I would call a ground share, this is very much, "ok you can use our rugby ground from time to time" but have to admire the way this club refused to give uo on the idea of being back in the football league and went on quite a journey to establish it. Both ends of the ground are usually unused and the siting of the stands does not quite fit the soccer pitch , did find it poor though that a club at this level had no club shop operating at the ground on a match night.

Convenient
Oct 2018 • Couples
I appreciate that there are mixed reviews for Rodney Parade but when my wife and I went to see Newport County play Morecambe in the football league we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You are close enough to the action for fans to indulge in friendly banter with the players, both home and visitors and when the public address advised of the relatively few visiting fans who had made the long journey they were greeted with cheers and applause.
