Visited last Sunday for the Victorian Christmas experience. What a wonderful time we had! The volunteers were all dressed in character with Mr. Scrooge taking pride of place. Activities aplenty were laid on for the young and the not so young. Making tree decorations, visiting Santa and Carol singing to mention just a few. The house looked beautiful and the... More

Newport: not our best trip! After discovering that the Transporter Bridge is closed until the end of March we headed for Tredegar House only to find out that it had been just encased in a huge amount of scaffolding to undergo urgent roof repairs that will last 1 year. We could visit the ground floor and the basement rooms which... More

Yesterday (26/11/16) we took our 6 year old grandson to this beautiful house to join in with the Victorian themed Christmas activities, which are now running right up until Christmas, each weekend. The cost to see father Christmas is £2.50 and you also receive a small gift. (Admission to Tredegar is on the website) My grandson really enjoyed the whole visit,... More

What ever the weather this is my favourite place to go back to , I visit tredeagehouse at least one a month to see what has changed in each room, and to see what has flowered in the gardens, as a member of the national trust I can go as much as I like , there is something different every... More

Lovely country pile for the Morgan family, aka Captain Morgan, Buccaneer and of the rum fame. Wonderful gardens, nice history stories around the house.

Having joined The National Trust we're slowly working our way around all these wonderful places.... however we were unaware from the website that the house was closed for repairs (I'm sure much needed).... and I can't wait to go back when it's open... we would have deferred our visit had we realised... saying that, there are some lovely little artisan... Had not been here for many years and took some friends visiting from England. We just wanted a nice walk and some refreshments and it fitted the bill perfectly. Best of all was the dog friendliness. I could even go in the shop with mine. Lovely gardens to enjoy for all the family.

The house was supervised in typical NT way, and although a very beautiful house inside it was just another house left to go to rack and ruin. Good luck NT!! However the gardens were great full of laughter and children playing with equipment that is available for them. it was a very pleasant afternoon sitting in the sun and watching... More

Tredegar House is the ancestral home of the Morgan family. The house is impressive and the stable block and coaching house is quite magnificent. The black/gold gates leading to the entrance to the house on horseback can be seen regularly at the start of the programme 'Antiques Roadshow' the grounds of the house are extensive and beautifull with a lake... This is a lovely place to visit. It's a national trust property and they really have done wonders with it since taking it over a few years ago. Lovely gaRdens and grounds and the history of the house is very interesting. Well worth a visit
