Belle Vue park is a strong contender for the most beautiful place in Newport, and it's been a lifesaver for us during lockdown. When we were only allowed out to exercise, taking my two year old daughter for a park walk kept us healthy and happy, and now that restrictions are more relaxed and the cafe and playground is open, the park can keep us occupied for a whole weekend morning.

Living in a city you often don't get to fully experience the seasons - but in the park you see the first flowers of spring, the cool trees in summer, the autumn colours. It can be beautiful in winter too, especially on crisp days - but we've had fun there even in the pouring rain.

It's full of nature too; in the park my daughter has learned the names of all sorts of types of flower. There are crows, jackdaws, jays, woodpeckers, tits, thrushes and a raven, to list just a few of the bird species you can see.

The park team are great, working tirelessly to maintain the park. Recently someone vandalized the playground tarmac, but they soon had it patched.

Cakes from the cafe are delicious. We had barabrydd and Welsh cakes last, and loved them.

I love Belle Vue Park, can you tell?

Visited the cafe in this large park. Covid friendly. Clean toilets. Car park was pay and display. Food was good. Ordered cheesy toasties and jacket potato's. Both were lovely. Cakes are sublime! Really soft, fresh and delicious. Smoothies are made fresh on site - lovely. Lunch cost about 5GBP per head, so quite reasonable. Ice-cream is also delicious. The young girls serving were both friendly and smiley. :)

Lovely afternoon tea at Belle Vue Tea Room in beautiful park. Fresh sandwiches, scones with jam & cream and a good selection of cakes. Bought as a birthday gift for a friend and she really enjoyed it.

Would definitely NOT book again or recommend a visit. We took our grandchildren to see Santa, cost £7.59 per child with small gift. Organised CHAOS, our first slot was booked for 2.25 pm, it was extremely busy & we saw an old friend who said they’d been waiting ages, a man was complaining about waiting but the lady greeting people didn’t seem too bothered. We were eventually called at 3.50 pm!! This is unacceptable, we’re not sure if it was a ploy to get people to spend money in the cafe, we were given a table with a piece of paper with a number on it, every table had families waiting for their turn. We bought coffees etc. and waited and hour and a half. Very unfair to people with toddlers as they don’t understand having to wait. It was the same last Saturday when we took our other grandchildren. We went again as the slots were booked online a few weeks ago. On our way out the lady said ‘sorry for the wait’and I said ‘it’s not your fault’, her reply was ‘oh it is because I did the bookings’, she didn’t seem bothered in the least. Also our 8 year old grandson was given a book about mermaids , he was disappointed, so they obviously don’t mark the gifts properly. All in all extremely disappointing.

What a shame this beautiful venue is so consistently marred by the rude attitude of some of the staff at Belle Vue Park Tea Rooms. I took my children there for a special treat and to warm up from the freezing weather but was rounded up whilst waiting in the queue by who I assume was the manager (brown hair in a ponytail, glasses, middle-aged) who aggressively suggested I might like to get a coffee from the van outside instead as they were 'busy' inside. Having ascertained the van only did takeaway coffee and was therefore unsuitable for young children I explained we'd be happy to remain queuing patiently which clearly annoyed her. It would appear that serving customers and running a thriving cafe in the current climate is not something this lady appreciates. I witnessed her virtually pushing other poor customers through the door and generally being rude, unfriendly and unsmiling. The food was ok but her attitude really put a dampner on our enjoyment of the visit. When I asked for salt to accompany my meal she openly rolled her eyes and gesticulated to a nearby windowsill, berating me with a 'see, you had it all long!' Of course, silly me, the salt in cafes is ALWAYS to be found on random windowsills 😳 The older man serving was equally unfriendly and walked past our table with our order a number of times despite us calling him. He then brought a number of things to our table that we hadn't ordered and seemed put out when we told him they were not ours. Honestly, it was chaos. So disappointing. On a positive note, the two young female staff were very friendly and helpful; the seniors could take note and follow their example.

Appalling attitude today to my mother’s disability. The barrier was open, so as we have parked near the tea room before and displayed the bllue badge I drove down. The disabled parking in the car park isn’t an option as mum is in a wheelchair and is scared of steep slopes.
Today, staff could not care less that the barrier has been closed trapping my mother and made no effort to locate the council worker who closed the barrier. Shame on you. The cavalier attitude of the staff / owners was shocking. The one male staff member preferred to argue and confront me in front of my very frail, upset mother. Thankfully the council worker was actually close by so opened it, but we had very little help from the tea room!

I was disgusted today to see an innocent women being told off by a manager at belle vie tea rooms, It loooked like the dog had put her paw on the table well from nowhere the manager came across and gave the poor owner and her friend a good telling off in front of everyone. There’s no need to treat people like this its appalling. I hope they complain about her, really hope it didn’t ruin their visit.

The tea rooms at Belle Vue Park were a lovely surprise. Friendly staff, good food and coffee, in a beautiful natural environment. The bara brith, with butter, was particularly good. Highly recommended!

At the time of visiting the park was simply glorious with lots of wonderful flowers. Great place for family visits, or just to chill out and read a book. The cafe is lovely. The only drawback is that the paths are quite steep and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

We went for a walk in this beautiful park with my month old grand son. He had to have his nappy changed and used the baby facility next to parc pantry. The baby changer was broken and filthy dirty.... The bins were over flowing and nappies on the floor. No soap in the dispenser or towels. To think we had to change this new baby in these conditions was appalling. We had planned to have a coffee in parc pantry but wondered if they were in charge of keeping these facilities clean so changed our mind. Such a shame 😞
