Very friendly to all types of people. Disability accessible. Great prices, staff and atmosphere. A traditional pub so if you want a trendy champagne bar this isn’t for you but if you want a lovely friendly venue where you can arrive on your own and end up chatting to everyone this is perfect for you. Too many places have been homogenised but this place is unique and a gem in the heart of Roath you don’t get places like t to his much anymore and they should be cherished. I had a brilliant time even though I don’t drink which can sometimes mean I get bored. I actually stayed out longer than I meant too. Just excellent.

Beer is consistently good in terms of quality and very well priced. Large selection of lagers (wasted on a beer fan like me, but still). Lots of live music (of varying quality!) A local pub that never disappoints.

if you want good beer served by friendly welcoming staff this is THE pub for you. Also the ale is cheaper. I have drunk there since it opened and you won't find better in Cardiff.

Very friendly pub with great bartenders and customers, you are made to feel very welcome and the alcohol is very cheap. The manager however is an awful man and I witnessed him shouting abuse at one of the regulars who had done nothing wrong. I have also heard him saying he 'doesn't make gay drinks' when a customer ordered from him a gin and tonic. Absolutely awful, keep the pub, but get rid of the manager.

The manager John:
When he wasn’t barking orders at the poor bar staff he was sat down the back of the building playing loud video clips to the two people who were unfortunately sitting there. He’d only surface to demand they poor him another bitter and bring it too him, turn more of the lights off or tell them to put certain peoples drinks “in the book”. The poor girl behind the bar was taking it all in her stride but you could tell he was upsetting her. Someone asked him for a drink when he stepped behind the bar and he shouted at her to “serve this man” then walked off leaving the poor customer dumbfounded. When it reached 11pm he jumped into action telling us to drink faster and the we had ten minutes to get out, politeness seems to escape this man as tells people he has things to do and everyone needs to leave at 11:05. Never felt more unwelcome at a pub in my life!

Other notes:
The drinks fridge looks like it’s half taken over by sauces, ready meals and boxes of leftovers.
The juke box was turned off
My friend was told she couldn’t use the ladies toilet upstairs as it was night time
Fruit flys are everywhere even in the drinks

Bar lady was wonderful, funny and attentive. She deserves so much better than being treated the was she was. 5 stars for her

John, the Landlord is a lovely chap who keeps fine beer and runs a fine pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Admittedly if I hadn't of been going to an event at this place I might not have given it a second look. Its very unassuming, not the best dressed but delivers in the alcohol department. Great selection of ales and ciders all at fair prices,
