In our fun, free and interactive galleries, discover how Cardiff was transformed from the small market town of the 1300s, to one of the world's biggest ports in the 1900s, to the cool, cosmopolitan capital we know today. The museum, in the beautiful and historic Old Library building, is rich in stories, objects, photographs and film telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city – its people.

Visited here on a busy Saturday in Cardiff during the Autumn Internationals. Great gift shop especially for quirky Welsh items, decent museum highlighting not only Cardiff's flamboyant history, but also reference to the whole of Wales too. The biggest disappointment was the cafe. The size...More

One day, I'll get a chance to see all of this wonderful little museum - in the meantime, it's my four-year-old daughter's favourite museum and her two-year-old sister seems to love it too. There are two main floors - the ground floor tells the story...More

Worth a visit and free aswell. Great images and videos of life in Cardiff. Lots of old photos and stories to read which bring the history of our wonderful capital to life. Go - you'll enjoy it.

Worth a visit to get overview of Cardiff's background. Right in the middle of the city. Well done exhibits. Well thought out interactive things for kids downstairs.

We visited the museum on a day off, mid-week, thinking that it would be something different to do. We’ve lived or worked in Cardiff off and on for about 7 or 8 years between us, but we’d never really given this place so much as...More

Popped in on a lunch break to escape the rain - good job it was a short break as the information is too Wales based now and not a great deal about Cardiff. Exhibits mainly aimed at keeping bored kids in check and not for...More

By the time we finished up touring Cardiff Castle, the Cardiff Story was closed. However, I had read about the tiled corridor, a lovely arts and crafts, floor to ceiling entrance that was once the main access to the old library. Intent upon finding the...More
