Expensive
Nov 2021 • Couples
My self and my husband visited here whilst on an over night Christmas shopping trip, we had pre booked the ice bar at £20 for us both including a shot, well what can I say it’s just a freezer room with some ice sculptures, it’s really small and after 10 mins of just standing there like a spare part we left, complete waste of time and money as essentially all you are paying for is £10 each for a shot. The rest of the wonderland is just rides and carnival games that are absolutely extortionate £6 a ride, and £6 for a go on a game 😱 we were expecting some lovely little craft stalls, and a cozy open fire and mulled wine etc, this is just a fair ground intended to get as much money out of you as possible. Very disappointing x

Ice staff should be on dancing on ice.
Nov 2021 • Friends
Never been before but been to others. Love Cardiff so Thurs night late planned a trip. Train down Cardiff centre amazing lovely stalls fab. Get to the castle for our ice skate session and it went a bit rubbish. The ice staff can skate. Fab. Proper Torvil n Dean's. But they treated it as if it was their own private show. Imagine singing karaoke after Celine dion and Whitney had finished singing. You wouldn't want to. N it looked like many people there didn't want to be on the ice with the staff!
I can skate but it was painful to watch the staff show off so much, that one member of staff actually caused a girl to fall over. It was depressing to watch and ruined my fun. They also cut up the ice which isn't great for skating on. Really irked me.
Rest of the wonderland was fab. Oh apart from getting to the ice bar to be told EVERYTHING had to be booked online. Waltzer was the best one I've been on since the 90s before health and safety ruined everything. Proper spinning fun!!
Off to Bath ice rink this week! let's see if Torvil and Dean will be at that one too.

Disappointed
Nov 2021 • Couples
I’ve never attended, because I had a positive covid test. Despite contacting them several times, they were unwilling to change the reservation. It’s alarming to think they would do that. I wonder how many people with a positive test have actually attended, because they couldn’t change their reservation

Terrible experience !
Nov 2021
After attending really over many Years,we couldn't believe the experience we had today.

Starting when we were denied the use of an already paid for Penguin as our child was"over the red line " which meant he was too tall.

But the most unbelievable was when my 10 year old Grandson wanted to use the toilet !! We asked to be told that there weren't any available in the Castle, and we would have to leave the ice go outside to a shop !!

How can an public event of this size not provide Toliet facilities. ? By the time we took skates of went into McDonalds and returned, the session was over !

Overall a totally disgraceful experience !

Not wheelchair friendly!!!!
Nov 2021 • Family
If your a wheelchair user don’t even attempt going into the castle ice rink!!! Cobble stones all the way through, not well thought about at all! Put the rink back by the museum where it’s all disabled friendly! If you want to fall out of your wheelchair and face plant the ground or your wheels to get stuck in the cobbles or mud then this is the place to go!
Couldn’t even go on the ice, no assistance at all.
Payed for a family ticket and thought it would be like previous years where I could go on the rink with my children. Was refused a penguin for my son because of so called height restrictions and seen plenty of adults using them he’s only 7!
Absolutely appalling!
Maybe who ever put the rink here could sit in a standard wheelchair and try and get from the rink to the castle door!
Would rather go to the big ice rink down the bay where you are looked after.

A funfair with tinsel thrown on it!
Nov 2021 • Family
We stopped by after being in Swansea. We only went to where we assumed was the heart of the Wonderland - not the ice rink so we are basing our review on that.

Review: A fun fair with ‘tinsel’ thrown on it!

My son, aged 8 didn’t even want to be there. It was just a mass fairground where all the signs had been replaced with Christmas ones.

We were expecting crafts and stalls, a band of some sort or at least some Christmas music.

Hugely disappointing and a complete waste of time.

The city centre felt more wonderland! Won’t be going ever again. Stick to the London one.

So bad I didn’t take any photos!

ICEBAR
Nov 2021 • Couples
This is a review about the ICE BAR inside winter wonderland!
First of all great as you walk in !
Then it’s as if you weren’t expected!
Every member staff puzzled ! No drinks ready was told lager not here on its way ???
Also the features in I’ve are fantastic it’s the wrong music choice deafening house music ! ?
Christmas magical music would be better more appreciated and appropriate!
It’s very small they only let around 30 in at a time very cold they offer jackets but I had my own !

Change the music to Disney or frozen 🥶
Get staff ready for who’s coming in !!!
Other than that great for 15 mins !!

Not As Good As It Was
Dec 2019
We travel from Devon to Cardiff each Christmas time as we love the city and it's vibrancy. This year however we were more than a little disappointed with the new layout of the winter wonderland.
There was absolutely no atmosphere at all and seemed a lot smaller somehow. I get that they have made the ice skating bigger and better to reap in more revenue but it seems at a cost to the rest of the area.
A reduction of food stalls means you end up leaving to get something to eat and then just not returning.
Prices are pretty fair and the new bar was nice & very well laid out but just not really much to see or do any more.
We will leave it for a few years as maybe we have had overkill of visiting the same Winter Wonderland year after year/

It was ok but nothing special
Dec 2019 • Family
I took my 9 years old daughter and she had fun. It was not busy, but very loud and annoying music boomed everywhere we went. Overall it was ok, good selection of rides, reasonably priced. I wish I could try the ice rink. We would come again next year. Overall it deserves 3.5 stars but there is no such option

Shrunk Since Last Year
Dec 2019 • Couples
There were a lot of games last year, including an Archery game which I loved. It seems to have shrank this year, with a really small selection of attractions. The ice skating was good, but there were too many people there skating around like speed skaters when there are young kids or nervous skaters (like my partner) around. There should be a separation
