We arrived late morning so only managed to see 2 waterfalls before it started getting dark, we wished we’d arrived early morning. The waterfalls are a natural beauty and awe inspiring. It was a rainy day for most of our walk which made it slightly less enjoyable as were were cold and wet, but we went well dressed prepared. The tracks are hard, rocky and very tricky to navigate, definitely hard if you have any physical disability. Not suited to wheelchair users and to take parks, just an fyi. There were toilets at the car park so very useful. Only 1 disabled parking spot, and if not parked in it then even with a blue badge parking was not free as it would be in the disabled spot!

I love waterfalls and this one was nothing short of spectacular. We went on a really hot day, but the hike to get there wasn’t too bad in terms of heat as there was a lot of shade. The spray when we stood behind the waterfall was very welcome!
We left from Dinas Rock car park and followed the yellow route which was well signposted and took about an hour each way. It’s steep in parts and fairly rocky so walking boots or similar are a must. As others have said, the rocks get slippy around the waterfall itself, but it never felt unsafe.
One of the things that makes this so special is that you don’t see the waterfall at all until you turn the final bend, very magical.

I’ll be honest my fitness level is not what it was in my 30s, I’m carrying some extra insulation now in my 40s nearly 50s. We ( 2 adults 3 teens) set off at a good pace reaching marker 11 in 20 mins feeling thankful we had worn walking boots although lots of people in trainers and sandals! We turned left at marker 11 and headed for the water fall taking us another 20 to the uneven, muddy, wet steep 170 STEPS! Take it easy as you go and it wasn’t toooo bad.
Waterfall it’s self was busy lots of dogs running free with some owners not keeping them under control which can cause injury when negotiating the rocks to the waterfall.
Now for the walk back! Those steps go at your own pace some of them are quite high. We made it back to marker 11 in a slower pace as it’s up hill and quite steep in places as is the track from marker 11 to 5 lots of benches to take a breather on the way. Extremely glad to seem porta loos meaning car park was steps away.
All,in all hard work but all, walks of life from old to very young all shapes and sizes completed the walk.

My wife and I decided to come on the four falls trail after finding the Brecon railway was closed. It was longer than expected 3h30 around the whole trail but we managed it with an 18 month old in the backpack carrier. This is harder than others to get to as there are 170 steep steps. It is a difficult climb back up - we actually did the trail in reverse by accident so visited this one first. Might've been for the best as we were still fairly fresh. You can go behind the falls - I didn't as my son would have got soaked! But there looked like plenty of space to go past the water. Surprised to learn anything like this existed in the UK.

If you are up for a bit of walk, this would be something you'd enjoy. We did go to four waterfalls car park which cost us £5 (it's best to have cash), we were guided by friendly team to our parking which was hassle free. We walked to Sgwd yr Eira, which was about 35/40 minutes walk. The view was amazing and got to even behind the waterfall for our photos (when we arrived, water levels were quite low). Over all well worth going.

Fantastic place, about 3hrs walking to see all waterfalls. We have been day after raining so been very wet but waterfalls looks amazing.
We walked with small kids 5 and 6, they've been tired but happy.
Parking wasn't expensive but road to parking is very narrow so be careful.
I would like to cone in the next school holiday 👍🙂

Visited on the 1st November 2023 with a friend and we had a great experience. There had been lots of rain recently so there was a lot of water around which I think made the falls more spectacular! We did get a bit of rain on the day but we had our water proofs on and walking boots so it didn't bother us too much.
I logged the route as 9.3km on my Apple Watch and we did the full red route plus all 3 green sections. It took us 3.5 hours including our 20 min stop for lunch.
This was long walk for me and I'm not particularly fit but I didn't find it too challenging (l'd say just challenging enough) some of the hills are tough but there are plenty of flatter parts too so you get a break from the steep parts.
The route was fairly quiet for us, we passed a few groups throughout our walk but l imagine in the night of summer it could get very busy.
Parking was fine, I think we paid £4 for the day.
I would highly recommend this hike if you're visiting the area!

Great day out.
We parked at the carpark (£4) which had toilets and guide map to buy and friendly helpful attendants.
It was about 30min walk to first waterfall.
Then another 30mins to the main one. Steep steps down but safe steps made with wooden pavers & handrail.
The 4 mile circuit loops around in a circular walk which was good.
I managed it at 34w pregnant and we had a 3y old with us, he did go on daddy shoulders for a bit.
Took a picnic.
It took us from 10-1pm to complete it.
Recommend it.
Wear good shoes.

Nice drive through to the car park. Very nice pretty adventure walking trail and water fall. Parking 5£. No food stalls.
Please carry water proof clothing/covers. If you are a photographer, don’t forget your tripod. Very cold in winter. Best viewed in spring and summer. Autumn May give you nice colours for your pictures. There are sit down areas with wooden tables and benches.
Steps may be slippery. Take care with your walks. Wear walking boots. Take additional clothing.
Consider arranging half of the group having a snack and looking after your back packs while the other half walk down to see the fall. Taken turns.
You need changing clothes on return. Taking a walking stick may be helpful in certain age groups.

Fantastic Area. Well kept trails and beautiful beautiful views.
The area accommodates so well for all types of visitors. There is a car park which is easy to navigate at the base camp (for those who want to go rambling) and as a couple… we were able to park up, pay for the day and visit two of the four waterfalls in the space of 3 hours. Highly recommend

Hi. I’m visiting the area with my two children in October half term. I know the weather is unpredictable at this time, but do you think this would be suitable for a 3 and 5 year old? (We are used to walking/hiking) how far/much incline from the carpark to the falls? Thanks. X
Written September 6, 2018
The paths are reasonably good, so I believe you could use a buggy for the 3 year old. The inclines are not steep. It took us about 40 minutes to walk to the falls at a leisurely pace with a few stops to take photos.
Enjoy your trip.

HI - a group of us are driving from various parts of England and meeting at the Sgwd yr Eira for a walk - can you tell me the postcode for the car park closest to it please?
Written May 4, 2018
It’s Cf44 9je
Although the satnav stops in the middle of nowhere continue on the road and you will see signs to the waterfall car park

HI what is the postcode of the car park as the name is not coming up on google maps Im going to wales in a couple of weeks and want to do this walk
Written April 17, 2018
Hi Phyllis, Postcode we used was CF44 9JF, this is the nearest postcode available as the car park itself does not have one, it is fairly easy to find from there though.
Have a great time it is truly stunning whatever the weather.
