About Wings Of Wales
We are a education, conservation and outdoor activity business based in the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. We fly eagles, vultures, hawks, falcons and owls with the general public. Wings Of Wales has was established in 2015 by conservation photographer and bird of prey handler Lewis Phillips. He has been working in conservation, educating the public and flying birds for over ten years. Lewis has worked alongside many different conservation trusts in Britain and other countries around the world. We aspire to teach people about real issues that affect birds of prey in the wild. Our other aims are to encourage education on habitat management and the politics that can affect birds of prey. But more than all of that we want you to have as much fun as possible with us while you are flying our birds of prey in the stunning countryside of Wales. Our location is Penderyn, in the Brecon Beacons national park.

My husband organised a morning with Lewis and his birds for my 50th birthday. We went along with my 12 year old daughter who was reluctant to go but ended up thoroughly enjoying herself. I am a complete novice with regards to such things so I was quite apprehensive to be in the company of such an expert on birds and wildlife - I needn't have worried - within 5 minutes of meeting Lewis, he put us completely at ease and we were chatting away like old friends. After a cup of tea we headed off to meet the birds and drove a short distance to some of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen in my life - I only live a few miles down the road and hadn't even realised what was on my doorstep. We met and flew 3 different species of Owl, a Falcon and a Buzzard Eagle - it is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Throughout the whole experience, Lewis' knowledge and passion for wildlife, conservation and the environment shone through. He is such an interesting guy that I think we all could have spent the whole weekend in his company - a very wise and experienced teacher combined with one of the most genuinely nice, easy-going people you could ever wish to meet! He spoke of conservation projects he is involved with and I will follow his story with interest in the future. We were in awe of the magnificent birds and took lots of photographs and videos including some slow motion footage of the Buzzard Eagle in flight which we are still watching on a loop 2 days later. To sum it up, I feel the experience has left us much more aware of nature and the world around us and in a way, I feel like we made a life-long friend in Lewis. I cannot recommend this experience enough.

I had a few days in ways for some 1:1 time with my 12 year old daughter and as we both live birds of prey this was high on our priorities. A conversation with Lewis prior to booking sealed the deal for his focus on conservation and knowledge of his birds was obvious and this was expanded on during our time with him. Lewis has a great approach and allows his birds to enjoy themselves in their natural environment which also means you get to see them at their best. Bringing them to the glove is great but I could easily have spent the whole day just sitting on the hill too watching the birds soaring and listening to Lewis who shares so much information in a very easy manner. It’s not cheap but it is great value and if you do nothing else, do this.

What an experience! Lewis is an outstanding guide and company, and his passion for the conservation of these birds and all wildlife shines through. My partner and I were treated to a fantastic experience, from flying barn and Ural owls in a graveyard to watching Takora the black chested buzzard eagle take to a thermal for the first time! It was a truly remarkable experience in a beautiful part of the world, and made all the better by Lewis' focus on making the experience as good for the birds as it was for us. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone and everyone!

I would totally recommend booking with Lewis, from Wings of Wales. My husband received a 'hawk walk' experience as a father day gift from our daughters, and what a blooming smashing gift it was. For starters the beautiful Penderyn countryside was amazing, and the scenery from the top of the hill was breathtaking. Add to this the proximity of the amazing birds! We walked up the hill with Harry the vulture. Yes, Harry walked up the hill!! Watched Malefecient the eagle fly like a dream. And chilled out with Florence the eagle, just shooting the breeze. Lewis was great company, engaging and knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed.
