Don’t Feel 100% Save Anymore
May 2019 • Friends
Myself and several friends used to meet up at lunchtime every other Thursday for several beers, a couple of games of pool and a nice chat (we are all around retirement age, by the way). We have done this for many years and always ended our ‘sessions’ before 6pm. But just lately, the town of Wrexham has gone right down the pan. Now, it’s almost impossible to walk 100 yards without being accosted by beggars! Also, the drug-culture in Wrexham has increased tenfold with many of the locals (and not-so-local’s) clearly walking around off their heads! We don’t bother meeting up in Wrexham anymore as it no longer feels anymore safe (even in the daytime!). Instead, we now meet up in Chester on the said dates.
Shame, as we all used to look forward to our little get-together’s in Wrexham Town.

Currently closed while it is converted to an Arts Centre

Currently closed while it is converted to an Arts Centre. Market stall holders have been re-located around town. Was always a dim and dreary place to visit as it was badly in need of a revamp.

A complete dump...
Nov 2016 • Friends
This market is a shadow of its predecessors, with an air of seediness and neglect. Many of the stalls are unlet, the stairwells stink of urine and the whole place is generally unwelcoming. The local Council want to turn this into a modern "arts centre" - good luck to them, they'll need it!

When the end of the world arrives, it will probably be here!

I felt really sorry for the traders having to operate in such a depressing market. Other covered markets have a vibrancy and energy about them. Lots of empty pitches - it seemed. Couldn't wait to get out. Perhaps typical of the demise of Wrexham town centre.

shopping in the market
Mar 2015 • Family
Once upon a time in the middle of Wrexham town centre there lay an indoor market which was filled with customers from far & wide. It offered many different products from flowers to toys, from eggs and cheese to records on vinyl (yes that long ago!). Then some bright spark decided to close the market, knock it down and rebuild on the site of this indoor market. I dont knock the stallholders because they are doing their hardest to sell and make a living and good on them for doing so. However this is not an attractive place to shop. It looks and feels like a disused warehouse with little or no atmosphere and is not the cleanest place to go shopping. The stallholders are friendly enough and willing to help you if needs be but the atmosphere just isnt there and is in now way reflecting the atmosphere of the old market. It is a reflection of how much worse the actual town centre is now looking with its emptiness, run down shops, lack of customers, etc (not just here but in a lot of old market towns). If there had been a decision many years back to keep the old market running then Im sure there would have been much more in the way of custom but unfortunately...

Hidden Gem of a place.
A large number of people don't visit the market for various reasons - personally I think it's a great place to come to get excellent value on all manner of things! From a great old style sweet shop to clothing, media and carpet shops this place has everything - if only people would just give it a chance!
