Beautiful grounds
Sep 2021
We really enjoyed the stunning gardens. We were pleased to find the walk in the grounds was well marked. Can't wait to go back & maybe go inside next time.

Disappointing
Sep 2021
We took our elderly friend who is 87 years old and had been looking forward to going to Erddig for 30 years. We appreciate that the establishment is run by volunteers, however, other than the lovely Welsh lady at the entrance, we did not get a smile or a welcome from anyone. None of them seemed happy to be there. The lady volunteer in the dairy room made several negative references to the Welsh people (not realising at the start that we were Welsh) in a derogatory manner. She announced that Welsh was hardly ever spoken in Wales today, even when we told her it was our first language. We told her about the villages and towns where Welsh was still spoken but she continued to argue saying that her village was English speaking only. Only the servants area was open to the public which was fine. However, the whole area was so poorly lit we struggled to read what little information there was. Complete contrast to Lyme Park. In the restaurant there was a lady clearing tables so I asked her what flavour soup they had but she flatly said this was not her department and walked away. Stick to the gardens and take sandwiches.

National Trust property

We arrived here about 2pm and found most people had left which made it more easy to get around the property and gardens.
Only the Servant's Quarters were open in the property but was well explained by volunteers and wall charts.
Superb gardens and walks

Not much to see
Aug 2021 • Couples
Disappointed that the house was not open although their website suggested it would be . Other visitors we spoke to shared our view. A quick walk round the gardens was all we managed. Best to contact direct to see what is on offer before making the trip.

Absorbing
Sep 2021 • Couples
Access was limited to the grounds and outbuildings and ground floor due to covid affecting staffing
The gardens were very beautiful, walks were pleasant but the stars of the visit were the many domestic ,agricultural and other tools and other relics reflecting much of the operation of the property inside and out and the family and staff’s lives
We plan to return when the rest of the house is accessible

House semi closed! :(
Sep 2021
Unfortunately the house was semi closed to visitors - only the lower servants quarters were still open - yet I’m thinking we paid the full entrance fee? The reasoning given was due to Covid restrictions- absolutely fair enough…BUT Covid restrictions and social distancing didn’t seem to apply in their shop or cafe are! It would have been much fairer to post on their website AND at the entrance to the Estate and have it fully explained that you are paying full, but only getting a third of a tour! Now, having said that, the gardens were lovely and we were lucky enough to visit during glorious weather. I would recommend leaving a visit until the whole house is open.

Really enjoyable, well organised
Sep 2021 • Family
As is typical of National Trust this is an enjoyable place to visit. Great outdoor woodland play area, lots of fascinating exhibits in the outbuildings. Not massive gardens but well run

Sadly much of this fascinating house is still closed although the servants quarters still provide an interesting experience. Plenty of walks, many of which are accessible. For the full experience wait until house is fully open

Wales trip
Jul 2021 • Couples
We explored Wrexham part of wales. It was just a few minutes drive from Wrexham. Added bonus is that car park.....is masiive and ...free.

The mansion itself will have to pay but the grounds are huge too and could entertain the while day. The cup and saucer is very interesting. Highly recommended.

A bit of a rip-off
Aug 2021 • Friends
A beautiful and well maintained property. A bit disappointed that when we went only the servants quarters were open to the public but we were still charged the same price as we would have been had we been around the entire house. Bit of a rip-off in that respect.
That said. The volunteers were very helpful and the cafe was reasonably priced.
Worth checking what’s actually accessible to the public before visiting.
