Not for the faint hearted as it involves 135 miles running or very fast walking but definitely the best way to see this beautiful coastline and the wildlife that lives on it. The event is very well organised and you have the choice of sleeping in the accommodation provided (leisure centre on 1st night and village hall on the 2nd) or, if a light sleeper then booking your own. There is a great value massage service provided at the end of each day. All who enter get a t-shirt and If you finish you get a unique medal.

As a spectator supporting my son who completed the 3 day course I thought the event was very well organised with lots of back up from the organisers at the check points. Also they actively encouraged the supporters to follow the runners at the appropriate times. The camaraderie between the supporters and between the runners too made it a very 'feel good' weekend. Grueling for the runners but worth it at the end - so much support and cheering as they finished over the line.

Oh how I love to be there at the end of this event. After a 3 day race around the 135 miles Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and as the competitors round the final bend, the song 'I fell into a burning ring of fire' is blasted as a welcome and a 'well done you'. It's quite emotional even for an oldie onlooker like me. We've chatted with people who have taken part more than once. One lady told us that her husband had entered them both as a present to her! But they were there again the following year. As I said at the time 'In my mind, that's grounds for divorce!'. The medals are large and lovely - made of slate with a ribbon of Red Dragons for around the neck. Whether you run or just watch it's fantastic. I asked if I may take a photo of one man with his feet in a bowl. I was very surprised - not to see soap bubbles floating on warm water, but a bowl of TALC. Congratulations to all involved and especially to the organisers. The length of time depends of whether you run or watch. Log on to the web site for more details and, if you're fit enough, to enter.
