We had a really friendly instructor Jon. The course was tailored to our individual ability and become progressively more interesting and challenging as we the day went ahead. I will be returning again to rebook and would highly strongly recommend Ty Nant for those who want to experience whitewater kayaking as a beginner

Chris, our guide, was perfect. Talked us through canoeing, happy, just the right amount of talking and making us feel safe & welcome.

We had a practice paddle up stream before turning back and enjoying the spectacular views from the aqueduct. We got good instruction on safety on canal with other users (barges, etc).

I would whole heartily recommend this trip and the company to anyone, even the people that can be nervous on water.

My partner has never paddled whitewater and I haven't for a fair few years, so we booked onto the Discover Whitewater day trip.

Andy, our instructor, had a chat with us prior to meeting about our requirements for the day, and the pre-session information was great (Google maps links are so useful from outdoor activity providers!). Given the fact this is 2020, the COVID-19 mitigations were explained in advance and Andy was great at making us feel safe in that respect. He actually listened to what we wanted to do, and during the trip assessed what we needed to do to get better at paddling as well. It was beautifully personalised to us.

We will definitely be recommending this course to others, as is gave a great intro to whitewater and has left us wanting more. Andy's knowledge and passion for water sports shone through throughout the teaching and coaching. It's fantastic to meet someone who obviously loves what they do as much as Andy.

What a top afternoon! We did the Chirk Aqueduct tour where you start off on a part of the canal then go through a tunnel before emerging to go over the aqueduct.
Andy was a brilliant teacher, tailoring advice to each of our different abilities.
We felt at ease and safe the whole time.
We even got to try some tricks at the end. All but one ended up in the canal but it was worth it!
Definitely recommend this tour for beginners, first timers, and even experienced paddlers as the setting is beautiful and the company great.

We had the most amazing time doing this, I did this with my kids who are 21 and 18 and it was great to make special memories with them. Would recommend going within Andy he is very knowledgeable of area and a great teacher. Make sure you stop if at the ice cream boat on the other side of viaduct. Andy only takes small groups, only the 4 of us on our trip, so was very personable.

Amazing experience canoeing over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Would definitely recommend Ty Nant Outdoor the instructor Warwick was very informative and friendly aand tailored the experience to how we wanted. Warwick created the perfect balance of involvement and privacy, he also made the extra effort to snap pictures off our phone of the whole experience. Super safe! Super fun!

We spent a morning on the water for the Aqueduct half day tour, with the option to walk to the start. We had clear booking instructions and the whole trip was conducted in line with social distancing guidelines.

Jon, our instructor, was fantastic and made the morning! He took time to teach techniques both at the start and throughout the morning and made us feel very safe throughout, particularly as we were feeling nervous about the aqueduct crossing! He even took some pictures of our group and shared them with us at the end.

If you’re in the area, do not miss!

Booking process was very good considering the busy time of year. The website is one of the best websites I have come across to book an activity of its type and with the most reasonable price for the activity we were after. Other nearby companies did not offer the ‘hire’ option and if they did it was not easy to find or far too steep in price.

Arriving in good time we parked at the nearby church for £2 no time limit and made our way to the car park. Andy was very easy to talk to and take instructions from regarding the self guided hire-a-canoe session. Informing us of route options, rules and safety of the waterway, standard risk assessment information the customer needs to know and provided us with the tools to raise bridges and a torch for the tunnels along the canal.

The activity was brilliant, with enough time we were able to cover roughly 3km in both directions (over the aqueduct and along the adjoining canal way), with fairly quiet waterways past the aqueduct, lovely people all along the canal path and great weather we really did enjoy ourselves going at our own pace.

Fantastic morning adventure. I was a little nervous about the aqueduct part of the trip but we were very safe and and in capable hands.
Kids had a great time and even managed the whole trip working as a team in their canoe and didn't fall out (metaphorically or physically!)
Covid safety was top notch.
Would definitely recommend and would do again if in the area!

3 hour canal and aqueduct canoe experience for 5 of us. Fabulous time with a great guide (John) who also took photos for us. There was no rushing, able to go at own pace, all the gear fitted expertly, highly recommend. Andy was also great with the booking and making sure we all completed the necessary forms on time.
