Lovely gallery
Jun 2019 • Couples
Whether you enjoy your visit here will depend on what's on show, but it is a lovely little venue with friendly staff so worth popping in. We ejnoyed the drawings downstairs June 2019.

Stunning little fine art gallery
Dec 2017
This is a fantastic little gallery in Conwy. Serious artworks and painters over the years. Always such a pleasure to attend.

FREE admission to gallery promoting Welsh artists
Jun 2017 • Couples
Hubby and I stumbled across this Art Gallery whilst taking a short-cut through a side street on Saturday afternoon. It was FREE entry. Downstairs there was a quality gift shop area and disabled toilet. There was also a spacious white room displaying large dramatic woodblock prints of landscapes. Up the stairs was another big bright room (with strategically placed chairs) displaying large scale abstract oil paintings which were not really my cup of tea but they were certainly colourful. This particular exhibition is on until 22nd July. The R.C.A. is an independent charity promoting up and coming Welsh artists. It receives no public funding and relies on donations and the support of art-buying customers.

A jumble sale of contemporary art with pseudo-Welsh themes
Jun 2017 • Couples
Tucked away behind a fabulously restored and amazing Elizabethan house, this little art gallery is worth a visit if you are incurably curious about art. Don't expect much of a welcome when you arrive though. The bored woman on the front desk (head ensconced in tablet or mobile phone) could barely grunt a 'hello' and look up from her flickering white screen for a nanosecond of time to acknowledge my existence as I entered the portal of this space. Much of the art is third rate and dreary, one would call it knicknackery, the sort of art that you encounter in charity shops and bric-a-brac outlets. Some of it is insanely and ambitiously priced (I refer to some ceramic sculptures upstairs at £7,000 a pop). Needless to say, there are few red stickers on the walls. If you like chiaroscuro prints of mountains, or expressionistic compositions of badly painted human forms in collision, this is the nirvana of bad art you have been seeking. There is a small shop next to the entrance that would fare better as a coffee bar and encourage people to stay a little longer. Instead, it sells runs of postcards and greetings cards, books, kitsch knick-knacks and unframed artist's limited edition prints - all overpriced to my mind. One wonders though, if any of this stuff actually sells. Surely, the aroma of freshly milled coffee might entice punters to stay a little longer and peruse the quirky sculptures made from detritus, flotsam, and the ubiquitous 'found object' that one sees in many provincial galleries. There is no sense of a theme or cohesion to any of the displays. You can see it all in about 10 minutes and when you walk out the barely communicative woman at the front desk will still be tapping away at her screen mindlessly, waiting for closing time.

Wonderful exhibit of modern art

Tucked away behind Plas Mawr, this free art museum gives a wonderful sample of fine art by Welsh artists. If you want some special souvenirs, visit their small gift shop.

Take your time and enjoy the culture
Jun 2016 • Friends
This is one of those places that unless you happen to walk around the side streets of Conwy you will undoubtedly miss it.
A small yet well accomplished gallery well worth a visit and just enjoy the art, sculptures and photography of the 120 + members of every description in pleasant surroundings. The staff are more than helpful and it can also boast as being 'Disabled Friendly' with lifts to the upper floors.

An eclectic mix of local artists work
Aug 2016 • Solo
First of all it is FREE! I have visited many times because the exhibitions vary every few months. The paintings are very varied, usually expensive but all for sale. If I had the money I would be very happy to have some of the works on my wall.

Interesting Gallery for all tastes
Apr 2016 • Couples
The Royal Cambrian is a show case for local artists. Spread over 2 floors and 2 stair cases the variety of subjects andq abilities are very interesting. Many of the displayed works are for sale and the display changes on a fairly regular basis so repeat visits are rewarding.

Art gallery

I visited the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art on 19 March. I have visited several times and on some times the gallery has been closed in the winter months. The gallery is well worth a visit. Always showing a good exhibition. Staff are always pleasant.
