The Tithe Barn in Monk Street right next door to and part of St Mary’s priory church is currently the home of Abergavenny’s tourist information office and is open six days a week from 9am to 4pm. It has a good size café on the ground floor, which they call the Food Hall, and upstairs there’s a display of a... More

A hidden gem and we'll worth a visit. Allow a couple of hours especially if you want to allow enough time to visit St Mary's church and view the beautiful stain glass and statues plus the exhibition and tapestry and finish off with lunch or a cuppa in the delightful cafe and brows the gift shop. The tapestry and audio... More

The information centre is situated in the Tithe Barn and the member of staff told us about the exhibition and the beautiful embroidery on display. It's free to see and is certainly worth a visit. There is a cafe downstairs where you can get refreshments. While you're in Abergavenny walk a short distance and see the museum and castle, they... More

Visited here with friends last month. The museum is on the upper floor but well worthy a visit. The cafe below is lovely with very friendly staff.

The Tithe Barn is next to St Mary's church which is worth a visit as well. The barn has a nice modern cafe and shop downstairs, with the tapestry and historicaI display upstairs. The tapestry is impressive and the display is informative about the history of Abergavenny. You can get to the barn and church from the back of the... More

Arrived here late afternoon and were warmly welcomed and encouraged to go and see the Abergavenny Tapestry upstairs. We can recommend it as well as the exhibition, both of which are free of charge but donations are welcomed. The Tithe Bar was built in the 12th century but has been restored 2002 and now has a lovely cafe downstairs. There's... More

Allow an hour to read the interesting display boards. (More if you are using the cafe too). We chanced upon this attraction by accident and had to rush. What a shame!

It was only because friends had told us about it that we visited the Tithe Barn with its millennium tapestry (stitched by a group of local women). A lady who had taken part in sewing the tapestry was on hand to give some very helpful information. There is also an interactive history of the town on the upper floor of... More

We seem to find that we are a hidden treasure. Many people tell others by word of mouth despite the fact we market ourselves via various channels. I'm really glad you were able to speak to one of the volunteers who worked on the tapestry. Please call again. Paul Thompson More

Visiting from Australia, it was terrific to have staff enthusiastically explain everything about the building, the town, and then give us a run down on accommodation and offer to phone ahead for us. We came back later to see the tapestry and they were shut ...however the manager saw us and reopened, waiting for us to tour the building! Service... More
