Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

Great railway trip and a fab visit and walk around Devils Bridge at the end. The cafe at Devils Bridge station delivered good food amazingly quickly.

We took a trip on the train to Devils Bridge recently to experience the age of steam. As it was the end of the season there was only one train running but we had two hours to view the falls and have a bite to eat

During the half term holidays with visited the Vale of Rheidol Railway and I must say it was a great adventure. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were very helpful. The train carriages aren't designed to be wheelchair friendly so thankfully we could carry my sister onto the train, with the wheelchair being placed in the... More

Had a great time on the Halloween Special with friends and a 14, 11, 9 and 7 year old. The train made its way to Devil's Bridge with a couple of stops where the passengers were tormented by a collection of ghouls, ghosts, etc - much screaming and laughter! The food was okay. As for the staff, they were brilliant;... More

Lots of dedicated free parking at the station, shiny clean locomotive, a first class carriage and an open carriage for photographers. Highly rcommended.

We booked on a Halloween night. It was possibly a little pricy but it was fun and the kids enjoyed themselves. We got food included, perhaps some chips too would be good. The spooks at the stations were a good touch but did get a little claustrophobic with the kids for that length of time in the dark. Maybe start... More

Never been on this railway before despite having been to Devil's Bridge previously. Transported back in time, we travelled first class, highly recommended! Great set up in Aberystwyth, plenty of parking, pleasant staff in ticket office and shop. Super October weather , autumnal hues on the trip. Walked to the waterfall at end of line, then coffee and cake in... More

This steam train is apparently 95 years old and is just a brilliant thing to experience. It takes you all through the countryside for around an hour and then it stops in a little place with a cafe and a shop that sells handmade chocolate. The views are amazing, especially of the lakes and rivers. But be warned, do not... More

Many thanks for your kind review. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed the experience. Our steam locomotives work hard on the climb up from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge - I'll pass on your comments regarding the coal smuts to the railway manager. We look forward to seeing you again some point ! More

This was a great trip on a narrow gauge railway behind a steam locomotive. What more could a railfan ask for? But this trip is not only for the railfan, but also for those who like beautiful scenery and an overall fun time. My wife and adult daughter enjoyed it as much as I did. The line climbs out of...
