Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

While on holiday in the area we took the opportunity to visit and do a round trip to Devils Bridge and back. Being a lifetime railway enthusiast I was very impressed. Authentic rolling stock and it was great to hear the locomotive work hard on the ascent to Devils Bridge. The guard was friendly and helpful and the footplate crew... More

Many thanks for your review. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit to the railway. I'll pass on your praise to the staff here. You'll be pleased to hear we are working on a programme to raise the backs on carriage seats and provide additional cushions. At the moment a small number of carriages have been modified, the remainder... More

Charming little train with closed and open seating areas. Winds through the countryside to Devils Bridge. Stop off in the cafe for some lovely tea and cakes before you tackle the walks. This part is suitable for elderly but if you are going to walk down to Devil's Bridge be warned there are lots of steps. Great day out.

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is a really nice attraction in Aberystwyth. It takes about 1h until Devil's Bridge. The trains are really beautiful and well maintained, pleasant trip.

Me,my husband and two young children( five and eight years old) had a lovely trip the other day,the only slightly disappointing thing is we paid for the first class carriage both ways and both me and my husband didn't think it was worth it,but you live and learn :) still a lovely journey and great views :)

Like several of the "Little Trains of Wales" its very difficult to fault this as attraction, helped by the fact that so many of the staff are volunteers who really enjoy what they are doing. The journey on the train would be worth doing in its own right, but the scenery and wildlife to be seen from the train are... More

Many thanks for your kind review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit. Unusually for a narrow gauge line we don't have any volunteers, but what we do have is a fantastic team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff. I'll pass on your praise to them - it means a lot to us! More

I would have gone on this trip whatever the weather. My first visit to the Rheidol Valley since the 1970s. Not much has changed en route It's a great, slow ride through very green countryside. Because of the weather I decided not to walk down to the falls. I had a reasonable snack lunch in the cafe at Devil's Bridge.

Decided to do this trip on an impulse and very glad we did. It was fun to step back in time and ride in the old 3rd class carriage pulled by a steam train. The scenery was lovely giving many photo opportunities along the way. We enjoyed the stop at Devils Bridge, the station cafe offers very good refreshments.

We went on the railway while on holiday in the area. We have a baby and so we had to choose things that were suitable, and this was ideal. We thought it was expensive at £22 per adult but we were given a voucher to spend in the cafe so it wasn't too bad, and after being on the excursion... More

Lovely trip out to the falls and able to take the dog. Only thing I would say is that no one was sure we're we could sit on the train and the queue for tickets was hectic.
