Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

What a great railway and a great trip up to Devils Bridge. The railway, engines and stations are so clean and well looked after, it's obvious a lot of care, attention and considerable amounts of time are spent on it. The journey is about an hour each way , the best part being the climb through the hills to Devils Bridge. There... More

We thought there would've been more to see on the trip up to Devils Bridge Falls... Quite expensive for what it was... We sat in one of the 'closed' carriages on the way up which was quite warm but seats were pretty uncomfortable for the hour long journey... there was no space in the closed carriages on the way back... We stopped near to Devils Bridge, and found out that they have a 'dinner time special' that runs from Aberystwyth at 6pm on certain days, meaning we could catch the 12.30pm from Devils Bridge and enjoy an almost full day in the town... Plus pay an extra £7.50 to have fish and chips ready back at Devils Bridge when we... More

I use a wheelchair and the staff were great at helping me to transfer to a carriage. The views from the train a truly stunning. My daughter and niece also loved the opportunity to drive/ride on the footplate of the small steam engine. I sat there jealously watching!

Took the train from Aberystwyth up to Devils Bridge. Its an hour each way but the decent scenery doesnt start until about half way into the journey. The seats are not very comfortable so on the return journey I upgraded to go into the 1st class carriage. I wouldnt bother doing that again as we ended up right behind the... More

The train is great and the staff who work on the railway from ticket office to conductor were all very good. We were in a closed carriage on the way out of Aberystwyth, but the weather perked up enough for us to choose an open one on the way back. With two children aged 8 and 6, open was much... More

Many thanks for your review. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit. Typically Vale of Rheidol Services are quiestest on Fridays and Sundays so fewer trains operate. On days with a more intensive service the timings are much better for visiting the waterfalls. More
