Travelling on the Vale of Rheidol Railway is the finest way to see the stunning Rheidol Valley. We pass through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery as the line twists and turns clinging to the hillside gradually climbing nearly 700ft (200m)from Aberystwyth to reach our destination at Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey such as Red Kite and Buzzards are regularly seensoaring high above the valley floor and breathtaking views can beenjoyed by all.

We were a party of 4 over 60's. But the sheer joy of the steam train reverted us back to our childhoods. We upgraded to the 1st class carriage. And had a fantastic time. The journey from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge took about an hour....More

Dogs are welcome which is always a plus. Isn’t “cheap” at £56+ for two people and a dog return but something you don’t get to do everyday and was a nice trip out! Lovely cafe when you get to devil bridge and nice walk down...More

This is a fairly good train ride but it can get a bit uncomfortable at an hour each way on not very good seating The journey back was not very pleasant because the train was absolutely full and because it is a narrow gauge railway...More

This is a fabulous day out for all. The views and scenery are beautiful. It’s a dog friendly attraction. The train ride itself was great and friendly staff too. The cafe on site at the Devils Bridge end is also very good and reasonably priced.

We took the train from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge. It was rather a long journey, longer than I expected and certainly not cheap! We were a family of 5 and a dog and it was £80 odd for a return. We also had to pay...More

Many thanks for your review - the Vale of Rheidol journey is one of the longest narrow gauge lines in Britain. All fare revenue goes towards the upkeep and development of the railway. We appreciate that doing both the Devil's Bridge walks within the hour...More

Even though this is a 'tourist' feel to it, the journey can't be done the same route exactly by car. So just do it. Sit on the LHS going up so you will be looking at the valley, otherwise you will be at the hillside...More

Yes but not first class There’s an open one which our dog loved as he could stick his head out and sniff! I think there’s an enclosed 3rd class carriage also if it’s cold
