Loved my experience
Nov 2021
So yes it is very small, its locally run, its basic, but I learnt more in an hour here about butterflies and moths than I have ever done, and if you want to see these wonderful creatures plus get a hands on experience with stick insects and centipedes then this is the place to be. The staff member took time to explain things to us and the lifecycle of these creatures and their challenges. If you have an inquisitive child then watching them stand and see the butterflies hover around is magical. If you are after modern, glitz and comfort, move on.

Awful
Oct 2021
Very poor. Overpriced, small tatty miserable polytunnel. The 'entrance' is a tatty plastic opening. The 'shop's is a few desolate shelves. If Insects in tanks could look depressed, they did.
The lady on reception could not be bothered. It was around 4.15pm when we visited, we asked for a discount which was declined.
She informed us that the average visit time was an hour .....
You can't see inside the place until after payment. Small neglected untidy space. Yes I know about the costs involved etc and why you charge exorbitant prices.
We were there 10 minutes.
Best part of the visit was the brugmansia and the cat (free).
However there were no signs to alert the public that all parts of the brugmansia are poisonous. The flowers on the ground would be very attractive to children.
Another couple were coming in after us. We tried to dissuade them.
Don't bother visiting, it's a long way to go for 10 minutes

Great on a wet day for something to do.

There are many beautiful butterflies flying around in a tropical house with lots of plants for them to settle. Some will land on your hand. There's a small shop there too. It's well worth a visit

Disappointingly Small
Sep 2021
A nice idea, but not worth the time or money going in. Basically is a small greenhouse, the first third is the entrance with a few months, stick insects etc in, then you walk through to exotic plants and quite a few butterflies but that is about it. It will take you no more than 20 minutes to see everything, making it a very expensive entry fee. Also the associated cafe/visitor centre wasn't open either so even though it was a nice day, it was pointless staying. Disappointing, don't waste your money - if you want a fabulous butterfly experience, go to the Butterfly Farm in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire.

Overpriced and underwhelming
Sep 2021
This a small tatty polytunnel with a short walk around it in overgrown vegetation and clutter. We were charged extra when we elected for Gift Aid, which has never happened to me before.

It is really poor value and needs a complete overhaul and makeover.

Fab gem of a place
Sep 2021
Beware their post code does not work for a sat nav - head for Capel Bangor and follow signs / ask someone!!

This is a tiny place. You pay, go in, leave and feel disappointed. Then the lovely lady on reception says you can go back in as many times as you like and you can FEED THE BUTTERFLIES.

There are pots of sugar water all round, you dip your finger in and wait. Butterflies come and land on you. All types plus moths. Stunning!

We all loved this experience - so different and so beautiful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful peaceful place
Aug 2021 • Family
We visited with our two children, aged 8 and 11, and loved every minute. The garden is beautiful and full of bees and butterflies. We had never seen so many types of buddleia, even unique varieties bred there, including the striking Rheidol Red and a blue Blueberry variety. Needless to say, we purchased some plants to take home! The children held stick insects, giant snails and many beautiful butterflies. They also got up close to tarantulas, atlas moths, different species of caterpillars, beetles, tropical fish and even a scorpion! All staff were friendly and Neil was so knowledgeable about the plants and butterflies, we learnt so much! We will definitely visit again when we are in the area, a magical experience.

Nice but crowded
Aug 2021 • Family
Abundance of beautiful butterflies and a lovely experience for the children. But it was very crowded - too many people in the small enclosed space given the pandemic is still with us.

Fantastic, hands-on experience
Aug 2021
We were so impressed with our trip to the butterfly house. We were able to handle many of the fascinating insects whilst hearing about them and encouraged to interact with the butterflies.

Honestly, if you’re not interested in insects, it’s probably not the place for you. If you have an appreciation of the beautiful creatures we share our planet with and welcome being able to interact with them (with no don’t touch signs) then it’s a wonderful way to spend an hour.

Thank you for providing the opportunity to get up close to some amazing creatures.

A unique experience!
Aug 2021 • Family
This is not the cheapest attraction and is over quite quickly but that said, they have some serious running costs so it is understandable. They have some really nice butterflies which they actually encourage you to hold which is great. It is quite a small place and the visit will be over in less than an hour but it is a unique experience that we really enjoyed. The staff were really friendly.
