I'm sure that all Worcester Walks' tour guides are excellent, but we felt we were particularly lucky to have landed with Sandy Cale. My partner and I had booked a tour of the city (with special interest in Elgar's links) and having Sandy's company for a couple of hours was just joyful: tremendous fun but also richly educative. We visited the nooks and crannies we wouldn't have found without a guide; and learned so much of the city's exciting history from someone who still seemed excited in the re-telling of it. We can't recommend Worcester Walks highly enough for a wonderful afternoon's mixture of learning and entertainment.

Our guide (Sandy Cale) made our guided walk around Worcester one of the best that we have ever been on - if not THE best.
Her local knowledge and passion for history bring the city to life and I cannot recommend using Worcester Walks highly enough.
If you're looking for a jokey, superficial walk around the city you'll need to go elsewhere but if you want to know about Worcester's place in history, this is the walk.

Thank you for this excellent review. It's wonderful to be considered (practically) THE best guided walk around Worcester! Sandy was thrilled that you enjoyed the tour and you are spot on - our walks are historically accurate as well as being entertaining.

We pre-booked our town walk a few days in advance; at the time we were the only people booked. When we turned up we were still the only two on the walk, so had a fabulous two hour personal tour round Worcester with the lovely and very knowledgeable Marguerite who brought to life Worcester's Tudor, Georgian and more recent past.
One of us had done the tour a year or so ago when it was possible to safely enter buildings. On this tour Marguerite showed us round completely different areas from the first tour, all outside due to Covid-19, pointing out and explaining so many things that we would have walked past without noticing.
A great morning, enjoyable, educational, great fun. Thank you Marguerite - you were great!

My wife and I were on a short break organised by Rail Discoveries of which a tour with Worcester Walks formed a part. As we were new to the area we wanted to find out as much as we could about the town. We had already done some exploring since our arrival so we had got our bearings but it was really useful to be told the history of the the buildings and streets to help us appreciate them.
Our guide was Marguerite Collins, although two other guides were also involved because our party could have exceeded 40 had all taken part. By the time we set off, each group was no more than ten which made for a much more personalised presentation and also made it easier to ask questions.
if you are new to the town, and have a couple of hours to spare, I would certainly recommend using this service. Thank you to all involved.

Thank you so much for leaving us a positive review and we hope that all of your party enjoyed their tour.
We find that splitting large groups into smaller segments works really well and gives all guests the chance to ask their questions - whatever they may be!

Marguerite was an enthusiastic, entertaining and witty guide who brought the history of Worcester to life. The two hour wizzed by and she told us so much that we were amazed that all these things had happened in such a small part of the the city. It was great fun and congratulations to Worcester City Visitor Centre for organising the tours.

I went on a walk around the city centre with a small group of people. Our guide was clearly spoken, knowledgeable and good company. The guide gave us a good introduction to the rich history of Worcester, pointing out many things of interest, some of which were new to one of our number who was a resident of the city. The tour lasted about 90 minutes and represented very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your high recommendation and we are delighted you enjoyed the tour. It's fair to say that our guides often surprise even city residents with little-known, often surprising, historical facts about Worcester!

We arrived for this tour (which you pay for at the tourist information office) just before 11 and our guide was Anne King, who has lived in Worcester for many years. There were just the two of us and Anne tailored the tour to suit us. She took us right inside the beautiful Guild Hall to explore various rooms, and shared many really interesting facts and anecdotes during our easy stroll around the old centre, and gave us great recommendations. I highly recommend that visitors do this walk on the first day of a stay in Worcester to help get their bearings and enable them to plan what else to do during the rest of their trip.

We had a lovely informative walk around Worcester with Marguerite Collins our very knowledgeable guide.
We heard all about the important part Worcester played in the Civil War and we discovered lots of interesting facts and buildings. This meant that we could go onto to enjoy our short break in Worcester, and see everything that we were interested in

This was our second visit to the area this year. We went to Worcester twice - once for a day at the races which is highly recommended - parking by the course was very cheap for 24 hours! Second time we went to the cathedral which is well worth a visit, NT house and browsed round the shops.
We particularly liked the fact that there are so many independent retailers and coffee shops which made the whole retail experience even more pleasant. The lady in the Tourist Information Centre was very helpful indeed.

It seems that your review is about Worcester attactions in general (and nice to see you feel so positively about the city). However it isn't specific about Worcester WALKS - the guided, historical walks of the city.
Perhaps if you come back for a third time, you could join a Worcester Walks guided tour (only around 2 hours) and you would be amazed and entertained by the fascinating historical facts that make this city what it is today.

I have been to Worcester a few times but I have now seen a second city that I was previously unaware of. It was 2 weeks ago when Sandy showed me this second city and it would be easy to forget to review it after this time but this was too good an experience not to sing about it. I turned up at the Guildhall on my own mid week in October and even so she was still prepared to show me her city. That is commitment. We were in and out of buildings that I had not visited before seeing things that I would have missed even had I gone in alone. The architecture, the history, the anecdotes. The national importance of Worcester and its people, all is revealed. I continued with the inspiration after the tour, walking past Lea and Perrins factory out of the centre. (No factory tours available) and to the final Civil War battlefield. I will be back and bring more people with me to gain this valuable experience. Thank you.

Hi Kim - thank you so much for your heartfelt review. Sandy is thrilled that you found the tour so interesting and memorable. All of our guides will do their tour, no matter how few people turn up, because they have such enthusiam about sharing the fascinating history of Worcester - and seeing how people are amazed by the little known facts.
