I went with friends for an Elgar Day. The lecture was interesting, lunch was appalling, the first people into the buffet piled their plates, so we at the rear only had crisps and grapes, not a lot for £5 a head. The gardens is attractive and of course their is a gift shop selling his music.

This is the real thing. Everything you have 'heard'about Elgar in his setting. Worth a visit as you get the whole story told by people who care and knowledgeable on their subject.

Now we know how Edward Elgar came to write such beautiful typically English music. Living and writing in such a charming cottage set in the most beautiful garden, overlooking the Malvern Hills, Idyllic!! The introductory video and the timeline exhibition were brilliant and did much to enhance our visit. The tea and cakes were just a super bonus. From Janice... More

What a wonderful atmosphere there is at Elgar's Birthplace. You can just imagine him being here. Everything is beautifully arranged and looked after without being too fussy. Going to the museum has reminded us about Elgar and we pay more attention to information about him on the radio and to listening to his music again.

I am not an Elgar fan, but attended a meeting at the museum and took my elderly mother with me so that we could tour the venue together. Every single member of staff that we met - and we met about 6 people - were so helpful, friendly and happy. They went out of their way to make sure that... More

The museum is absolutely fascinating and the cottage is a gem surrounded by a beautiful cottage garden. There is so much to see in the cottage and the visitor centre,we particularly liked the sculpture of Elgar on the seat in the garden. We have a dog and we sat in the orchard by the car park and had a picnic before... The entry is through a modern visitor centre with lots of museum exhibits, video guide and souvenirs. For us the star is the charming cottage and garden, walking through the little rooms of the unspoilt cottage with lots of interesting memorabilia. Stroll around the garden and see the statue of the man himself relaxing on a bench

There is plenty to see and the audio guide is excellent. We learnt a lot about Elgar and his music. The excellent staff made us feel most welcome. Very good value for money.

I went with two other musicians and we all agreed it was a very good and fascinating display of Elgarian mementos. Even to a non-musician (one of our party) it was very interesting. A good sunny day enhances the visit, the museum being out in the countryside.
