CJP Private Hire and Cotswold Tours is a small friendly Cotswold Private Hire Company owned and operated by Chris and Ruth who are married with two daughters, Charlotte and Hannah. They run their private car hire and Cotswold touring business from just outside the picturesque Cotswold woollen market town of Chipping Campden. CJP Private Hire and Cotswold Tours was established in 2002 and has now become well recognised as being safe, professional, friendly and reliable.

Sharing a Love of the Cotswolds

My wife and I have lived in India and have traveled in Asia and Europe and enjoyed quite a few excellent tour guides, but Chris Peake of CJP Cotswold Tours hit a towering six for us with a personalized tour arranged on relatively short notice. We are touring England for a few months with a fairly open agenda and we love to do things with a bit of spontaneity, so I was delighted when Chris responded quickly to my email inquiry with a few suggestions since we truly had no idea where we should go other than that magical destination, the "Cotswolds." He tailored a wonderful five hour tour for us in the northern Cotswolds and entertained us throughout with insights on the history, the families, and the culture of the area and the several charming hamlets, villages, and towns we explored--and he shared with us that there is indeed a difference in those classifications that we never knew! He also explained the meanings of so many of those quintessential English location terms, so we enlarged our understanding and appreciation. Finally, he asked us many questions so he could share those elements we found most interesting, and he also introduced us to a pair of his and his wife's friends in one of the villages and we got to chat with them to gain a real feeling of community. Excellent in all respects, we recommend Chris and CJP with an unabashed 5 stars out of 5!

Beyond all expectations!

We cannot say enough positive things about CJP Cotswold Tours! We were with Chris Peake and he was beyond amazing. We were with him for 2 and a half days and saw more than we could have imagined. Their communication with us was timely and thorough. They listened to what we thought we wanted to see and made suggestions, created an itinerary and helped with lodging and restaurants. We packed so much into our time yet never felt rushed. Chris was a wealth of information from the historical perspective of the area to local tales, geography and just everything we wanted to know... he had an answer and a story. We drove through and/or visited over 25 locations-and saw villages, hamlets, gardens, houses, flowers, rolling hills, sheep and shops and pubs. We cannot recommend highly enough!

Second adventure with Chris in the Cotswolds.

Chris and his team are professional, kind, knowledgeable and interesting. They have good taste in food and valuable local expertise. Chris went above and beyond the call for us arranging airport transfers, clay pigeon shooting and providing restaurant recommendations. We strongly recommend CJP for an introduction to the Cotwolds, or when you are only visiting for a few days and want to get the most out of your stay. We also loved Chris’s colleague Tony. You can’t go wrong with either of them.

Brilliant tour of Cotswold

Chris was an excellent tour guide. He made our experience enjoyable, hilarious and very informative. He showed us around some lovely villages and told us all about the different places we went to. He had so many stories to tell us and kept us entertained throughout our day tour. He let us browse some locations on our own and was very accommodating to our needs. Very enjoyable

After consulting Trip Advisor my husband and I chose CJP Cotswold Tours to give us 2 days of touring the Cotswolds. Andy was our guide/driver for the 2 days and he was good natured and friendly. He was interesting and very knowledgeable about so many things, history, architecture, cool little facts about life in the Cotswolds. He gave us a very pleasurable 2 days. I will tell all my friends traveling to England that they must see the Cotswolds with a guide from #CJP Cotswold Tours, because without a guide a tourist has no idea what they are looking at.

CJP COTSWOLD TOUR COMPANY IS THE BEST!

Boy did I get lucky when I chose CJP Cotswold Tour company. Even though the owner was on vacation when I made my booking inquiry, Chris answered my request promptly and arranged two days of sightseeing for my husband and me on short notice. Neil was the guide assigned to us and he was terrific and I feel like we made a friend. Neil was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and interesting. I usually am a bit uncomfortable when someone else is driving but not with Neil. The van was roomy, and spotless. I forgot my camera in the van and CJP took the time to come to the little village where we are staying to return it to me. Can’t recommend d this company enough!

First Class Tour of the Cotswolds
May 2021
My husband, my parents, and I had a wonderful full-day tour of the Cotswolds by Tony. Chris (CJP's owner) and his team seamlessly planned everything, and it was the perfect way to take in the Cotswolds without having to stress. They even booked our lunch reservations. We covered lots of ground, were given lots of history and interesting facts, and saw lots of spots off the beaten path as well as some of the major tourist destinations like Bourton on the Water and Bibury. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to really see the Cotswolds and so much of what it has to offer.

Our best day in cotswold

Most anticipated day of our UK trip but nature had a different plan as it was raining mostly. Still it is one of the memorable day because of CJP. NOTE: we travelled thru cotswold in bus the previous 2 days and we were completely aware of the most famous places and were under the impression that we already had seen the best of cotswold.

On November 2, Our guide arrived at our pickup point,marton in the marsh cottage, just on time with all smile in his face. He greeted us and helped with luggage, explained plan for the day. He took us to Broadway tower, Snowshill, Broadway town, Stanton, Bibury and he stopped on the way where ever we asked him to and finally dropped us in Bath. He,very happily offered to take family pic for us. He has thorough knowledge of cotswold and he answered all our silly/curious questions. My 13 year old son was very happy talking with him as he was so kind and listening.

The name is STEVE..!

Thanks CJP and Steve for making our most awaited moment memorable for us.

Amazing Personalized Expereince! Highly Recommended!

We were in The Cotswolds for just 3 days and staying in Cirencester. I wanted to find an all-day private tour at a reasonable price and this was it! Our guide Trevor met us at our hotel in Cirencester and he was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. We had a very nice air conditioned Mercedes van and Trevor asked us our interests and what we most wanted to see, and we relied on him to choose the best experience for us. He did not disappoint! While navigating the tiny country roads of the area, Trevor gave us detailed information about every village and point of interest we were passing though. There were many opportunities to get out and walk though villages and places of interest. We stopped at midday for a pub lunch and headed off to see more quaint and beautiful scenery! This was really an amazing tour. We would not have seen most of these points of interest had it not been for Trevor’s knowledge of the area and superior driving skills. I would highly recommend this tour to all who want an comfortable and curated experience!

Touring the Cotswolds in luxury

Our tour in the Cotswolds was everything we were hoping for. Our questions were answered immediately by Chris and Ruth contacted us for payment and to confirm our pickup and driver information. Trevor, our tour guide arrived exactly on time and we discussed what we were interested, and most importantly, not interested in seeing. We toured fantastic churches and neighborhoods with amazing architecture, saw beautiful views, and lavender fields. We had a beer at a local brewery and a nice lunch in a village pub. Trevor was extremely knowledgeable in not only the area, but the history of all things cotswold and more. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable.
