The centre is small but brilliant! The spitfire simulator is a must do activity and the artifacts and resources the museum has on the ATA are excellent. It is a completely unique collection and the only one of its kind in the UK and even world so worth visiting. The centre also does great online lectures.

Maidenhead Heritage Centre isn't the biggest, but they manage to get a lot of information and exhibits into a small space without being cramped. I paid a visit here to purchase a newly publlshed book about Maidenhead. Friendly helpful and cheerful staff. Having purchased my book I stayed to view the display of costumes and props relating to theatrical productions in the town. Very interesting. The displays change regularly so there is always something that will interest a visitor and , yes it is free although you can make a donation.

We visited here with voucher in hand for my husband to have a flight on a spitfire simulator. There is an enlightening exhibition about the ATA jam packed with information and interesting quotes; facts; log books etc. that is running concurrently with the flight experience -"Grandma flew a spitfire". My husband loved the flight itself as it was totally realistic, giving a great experience of the responsiveness and ability of the Spitfire without the G forces involved! Allow plenty of time whilst there to explore interesting research and memorabilia of Maidenhead and district. The volunteers on duty at the time were all friendly and interested in the history of the area.

Everything you’ve never known about Maidenhead. I’ve been living in the town for 15 years and discovered lots of history. The staff were happy to answer any questions.
