Great afternoon cinema experience
Feb 2020
We had never been to one of the Arts Centre's film afternoons, so spotting that my husband's favourite film - the Italian Job - was showing, we decided to go along.
The computerised payment system was not working, so the two staff were having to issue handwritten tickets. This took extra time, but was not a problem.
The screening was upstairs, so we collected our free ice-cream and went up to the room.
We were told by a regular that there are usually about ten people at these events, whereas that day there were 40. Extra chairs had to be set up to accommodate everyone.
It was wonderful to see this film on a big screen as we are too young to have seen the film when it was first released and therefore had only seen it on TV or DVD.
The ice-cream was a bonus and there was a much more relaxed atmosphere than one finds at the cinema.
The only downside is that the seats, being plastic chairs are not as comfortable as they are at cinemas; but when one is paying only £5 for a ticket compared to the cinema at double that price, one can endure a bit of discomfort!

Once great venue largely spoilt by Wiltshire Uncreative

Enjoyed the Wedding Present very much, but these sort of gigs are all too rare, the management should focus on more bands, newer music, why has the Altar club night stopped? See how well the Joiners is doing in Southampton, and The Brook, there are people in Salisbury under 50 and those, like me who think they are.

Great evening
Sep 2019 • Couples
We went to see the film Fisherman’s Friends, which we had missed on general release. We spotted it was on at the arts Centre and so off we went.

Apart from the fact we had to walk 3/4 of the way around the building before we could find the door, this former church is now a wonderful venue. The main area was set up, obviously, as a cinema: the seating, picture and sound were all excellent.

Plenty of staff around and all very helpful - all in all a perfectly pleasant evening for not a lot of money. We have already booked several more visits!

live screening La Traviata from the Met New York
Dec 2018 • Friends
What a wonderful performance, I was completely spell bound. When next in NY with my ma, will definately go to a show there, the power of live screening!

The bar was quite expensive, maybe because it was christmas time but really £1.50 for a kit kat.

The staff were also helpful and pleasant.

Went to the murder mystery evening on December 12 th .

The 3 course evening meal was described as a fine dinning experience . The tickets were £45 and I can honestly say the food was the worst I have ever had. The entertainment was O K. But I shall not be returning.

Interesting converted church
Sep 2018 • Family
An interesting arts 'hub' & venue with a small cafe & a bar some evenings in converted church. Live performances include bands & comedy. Lots of workshops eg feltmaking & pottery, for all age ranges from young children to adults.

Took money and didn't want to know about switching / refunding ticket
Jun 2018 • Solo
Booked on-line for this venue. Don't know what happened but when the ticket came in the post it was for a different day to the one I wanted. Returned ticket to the box-office and all I got back was a very curt e-mail saying that tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. They then ignored my communications. Left out of pocket and no tickets at all. They didn't send me back the ticket to pass it on to someone who could have used it. Will never visit this place again.

Quirky, cool and quiet cafe
Jan 2018 • Family
We spent a lot of time at the Arts Centre when our children were babies/toddlers. It something a bit different away from the hustle and bustle of town. It is very laid back and therefore child friendly. A unique setting which often features live acts on Saturday lunchtime and is bestowed with art work across the walls. We revisited on a Saturday and were reminded of the quality of the simple but tasty lunchtime food on offer (I.e. baked potatoes, toasties). The chef was super friendly. Loved it and will be back in the not too distant future. Keep up the great work.

Great venue!
Dec 2017 • Family
We attended a gig here, it was the Only venue on the artistes list which allowed children, so despite the journey we bought tickets!

Lovey venue which felt safe and there was a brilliant atmosphere, a great size
Place! Unusual music venue as it’s a old church!

Never have I been treated with such suspicion
Jun 2017 • Couples
Visited with a friend as we were in town for a day, the gallery had a great sounding exhibition so we decided to pop in.

When we got there the staff informed us of the entry price which turned us off the idea, however we saw a sign for cafe so decided to get a coffee and mull it over.

Upon stepping in the direction of the cafe and older member of staff shouted at us 'you can't just walk anywhere, you have to pay', I pointed out the cafe sign and our coffee intentions. We were in no uncertain terms briskly told 'well it shuts in 10 minutes anyway' then glares at us until we were out of the door.

It's unfortunate that some people and/or attractions see people who are under 30 as thieves or upto no good.

I work in the arts myself and try to spend my money supporting galleries and museums.. even if it is just a few pounds on coffee. But will not be going back here, and warn others the same, unless they like being treated with unwarranted disrespect.
