Fab ,cool bar
Aug 2021 • Friends
My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around the Granary Wharf area and located under and inside the spans of a railway crossing is Hop ,a wonderful tap room for Ossett Brewery.
I adored the look of this bar ,a very cool location, beautiful curved walls ,exposed brickwork, set over two floors, eclectic decor and furnishings including a very cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling canal area.
We were here on a Wednesday evening, we got a table and ordered Ossett Brewery pale ale, as you can expect from the tap room for this brewery these pale ale's were served in pristine condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar.
My pale ale was awesome, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of citrus, a big hit of hops and a delicious aroma and aftertaste, on a very hot evening a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a quality brew.
We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and for a first time visit to The Hop we were totally impressed.
The Hop is easy to locate along Dark Neville Street built into the arches of the railway line above.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Saturday, Midday till Midnight.
Sunday, Midday till 11pm.
Well worth a look if you're in the area.

Superb Ossett Brewery Beers.
Jul 2021 • Friends
The Hop is located in the Dark Arche's under the train station that offers a superb range of Ossett brewery beers and guest Yorkshire cask ales and is a great pub to visit when in Leeds.
With ground and first floor levels'the ground floor level has a traditional pub look and feel with lot's of interesting fixtures and features and excellent seating options. The first floor level again has lots of good seating options and throughout this level superb murals and other interesting features and outside there is a superb seating area.
We had visited many pub's in this area of the city centre and this was another great pub we visited in Leeds. On entry we gave all our track and trace details and sat on the ground floor level and with it being table service one of the staff came to our table and we ordered a couple of glasses of beer from the Ossett brewery which where superb and well priced.
The Hop is a superb pub and well worth a visit as is this area of Leeds as there are some excellent pubs in this part of the city centre. So easy to get to from Leeds train station it's a minute walk.(This is my first review of the Hop).

Called in for lunch with a friend. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is out of this world and the menu fantastic. Will definitely call again.

They have signs everywhere about their food but none that mention the kitchen closes ridiculously early. Conveniently they waited until I ordered a drink to tell me. Well played, The Hop, you've screwed me out of 5 pounds

Called for a drink
Apr 2019 • Couples
Always a great atmosphere here. Mixture of ages, young and old. Great bar. Does pub grub.
Set down near the river with other bars around outside of the city centre if you want to keep away from the crowds but still busy enough to create a great atmosphere.

Great bar
Mar 2019 • Couples
We called in here for a drink recently while staying at the hotel across from it.
It was early in the day so a little quiet but can imagine it would be really busy later.
The bar offered a great selection of beers in a good location and we are looking forward to visiting again.

Pie for lunch
Mar 2019 • Solo
Visited for lunch. It was quite busy as it was a Friday but got served quickly enough and found a table. The Hop does a pie with peas, mash and gravy with a pint for £6. Good value and the pies are very tasty. I had the steak pie which I really enjoyed. The service was very quickly and friendly and I would certainly recommend for anyone wanting a good value lunch.

Boozy tardis.

Well let me set the scene. Popped into Waitrose on the way to the train station and picked up a few tins. 3 for a 5er they were (which in case you wondered and kept up to date with my first review of the weekend was infact the price it cost to access the remote for the tv in our hotel room). Anyway me and the Mrs sunk a couple of pale ales and before we new it we had arrived at Leeds. Now I’ve been to Leeds before but we took a different exit out and ended up near some sort of canal bar area that seemed like our sort of spot. Now I must admit I take the term ‘break the seal’ to another level as when I’ve had even a sip of syrup I just can’t stop going to the lavatory so it was unspuprising that as soon as we got to this area I needed a how you say... slash. Well what a surprise I tell you when we walked in. I was expecting a small bar filled with maybe a few on the doll layabouts or perhaps the usual brexit oldies but what a shock... it was big! The mrs sorted me out a home brewed ale while I relieved myself upstairs and we sat up top talking away just like the day we first met. The view was lovely out the window and it wasn’t too bad inside either as my first thoughts would be the sight of maybe a left over half drunk pint of vineger and a few soggy crisps were restored with notes of cheer, togetherness and a libertines display on the wall.

22 / 22 - am I feeling generous? Perhaps? But I can’t see it being any better... unless ant and dec were pulling the pints!!! Haha what am I like.

Great lunch spot
Nov 2018 • Business
A large group of us have booked to go for lunch here a few times as we work close by. The team make it incredibly easy for a large group to pre-order and the pie, peas, mash and a pint for £6 is excellent value. Nice, friendly atmosphere. Also a good spot in summer to have a drink near the canal after work.
