Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning! It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds. It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Visited here on Saturday. Enjoyed seeing all the wildlife, especially the meerkats! It didn't take long to walk around and we were back out in the hour. Headed to the cafe for a spot on lunch. Unfortunately the over priced kids lunch box came with...More

Visit Tropical World quite a lot with my4 year old daughter. We love it. Lots to see and the recent improvements are as welcome as they are overdue. Some areas still look tired and a little dirty from the birds but overall it's a lovely...More

Really enjoyed our visit here with an almost 3 year old. Good selection of animals to see, well spaced out and could see everything easily within a toddler's short attention span. Cafe was good too. Would recommend

Lots of fun I just wish there was more to it. From tropical fish to hairy tarantulas we had a good time learning about the different species. As you can imagine being in the tropics it is very hot inside so no need for a...More

I had visited Tropical World previously, but went back as I read it had been refurbished. To be honest I didn't think it had changed that much. The attraction seemed alot hotter than last time I visited, I remember the butterfly walk through being hot,...More

This is one of our holiday staples - usually takes about an hour to go round. I would recommend wearing light clothing because it is hot inside, especially in the butterfly house. The butterfly's and birds are free to fly around andthe kids love it...More

A first rate attraction imaginatively laid out and an ideal way to introduce youngsters to some of the creatures in tropical rain forests, rivers and deserts. A great family attraction.

My favourite spot is the #piranha tank. See them up close like this is amazing. We've visited many times before and will come back again. It feels like and smells like when we are in #Brazil. @roger_uk @roger_dani_nina #rogeranddani

Sorry for the delay in answering. Many of the flying birds, butterflies etc are free to fly around. Some of the bigger species are in cages/tanks.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. We ended up parking on Mansion Lane bang opposite the Tropical World. What a great place it is. Enjoyed our day out, will return in Summer with a picnic for Roundhay park too! Thanks to all... More
