Overview
More
Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning! It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds. It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Lovely spot on edge of Roundhay Park. It has a real mix of animals and plants and much more than a butterfly house. Nice restaurant linked to it as well with helpful staff. Very steamy, so leave your jumper behind. We learnt a lot.

The place itself is quite visually appealing with nice big gardens at the front situated besides a café. We went on a hot day only to find once you get inside the greenhouse, the heat can be quite unbearable, but that did not put us...More

All under cover, and much bigger than I expected. As with all 'nature' things, not all creatures, insects & birds played nice, but is how things are 😀 Some very interesting exhibits, with a fairly well organised walk through. Could do with an opportunity to...More

We frequent Tropical World every 3-4 weeks. Such a place! Excellent for families. Ideal for the little ones. Reasonably priced.

All of the tropical house is inside and the enclosures are very warm so even if its horrible outside I wouldn't wear to many layers.

Sorry for the delay in answering. Many of the flying birds, butterflies etc are free to fly around. Some of the bigger species are in cages/tanks.
