Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning!

It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds.

It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Visited on a Sunday with my husband and 8 month old son. We expected it to be busy but there were just far too many people there to enjoy the exhibits, it was almost just like one massive queue throughout the whole place. When exiting you had to go back through areas with people moving in the opposite direction so... More

A visit to tropical world would be best suited to younger children. It offers a varied amount of animals and fish for such a small space but it seems like once you go in you are at the end. The journey takes your through several different types of animals including butterflies, lizards, fish and birds. Older children are at risk... More

Kids under 5 are free so it only cost £10 to get in. Unfortunately it was a disappointing to only spot 1 butterfly, where were they? My daughter loved the meerkat the best. I think we were there for an hour. There was a large gift shop and an adjoining room where kids activities took place but it was freezing... More

You get what you pay for I guess, and it's only 5 quid per adult which isn't too bad, but it was horribly overcrowded on the day we went - late Sunday afternoon in January. Not sure if the renovations are to blame, but the whole place was totally overcrowded and there was congestion in most of the areas, making... More

Currently under renovation, so there are a few peculiarities in the route around the attraction, however still a great place to spend an afternoon with kids. Features a lot of animals, aquatic and tropical, meerkat area is very good as is the dark area with the bats and rats. Very good value, two adults and two children for £15 with... More

We visited today. There is work taking place to update some areas inside but no reduction in cost. Instead, an offer of a free tea coffee or hot chocolate is on offer on the cafe, but not a latte or other "speciality coffee". The animals at this time of year are pretty unimpressive, I saw 2x butterflies, and maybe 5x... More

Really good but disappointed cause I like butterflies and I saw one, and the maintenance work being done made it so there was barely anything to see. But what's there is lovely and the bats are cool 🤙

I love Tropical World. I've been going since I was little and I always enjoy it. It's very warm in parts so I'd consider that if you're going on a cold day, you'll have a lot to carry! The selection of animals is great and their standard of living is second to none. I haven't been in a while so... More

Visited with my young daughter and she was fascinated. Definitely good value for money. Combined with a walk round the park makes for an excellent day out.

We have visited tropical world for a number of years now.on our latest visit with our 3 year old grandson we were told that some areas were closed but we could all have a hot drink.walking around was horrendous as the one way system was not in situ due to the maintenance work. We saw all of 3 butterfly's. As... More
