Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family...

Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning!

It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds.

It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Great for kids!

Some lovely animals here for the kids to see! The nocturnal section is good fun. Think a highlight has to be the meerkat area, very cute! We went with a two and a five year old... read more

After a long journey with two little boys whose big thing is snakes and reptiles we arrived to find that the reptile and waterfall part were closed. The receptionist said the website said so. It DOESN'T. So very disappointed and the whole thing was just an hour to see the lot. A cup of tea as compensation is no compensation... More

Took our 5months old out on a little adventure. He loved looking at the butterflies, birds, reptiles and fish. Plenty to see and do for young kids and adults, fun to wonder around for all the family.

So many fish and birds! Definitely worth a visit and is indoors so a good activity for a rainy day... More

Brilliant place for the kids as a day out. It can get extremely hot during the summer so you might need to pop in and out regular, good selection of animals

Takes around an hour or two to see everything (variable according to how long you spend in each section). The meerkats are popular with my children. I love feeding the enormous koi, some of these appear to be those I remember from 30 years ago as a child. It is hot inside (as the name suggests) so be prepared to... More

Recently visited tropical world. Free parking a few minutes walk away. Plenty of animals etc to see but was in and out within a hour. Also 2 sections of it was closed. Cheap entry though not like alot of attractions.
