Of all the places in Leeds that boast its open spaces round hay Park is perhaps the most beautiful. I came here regularly as a child and through my teans to concerts open air ones where most of the then stars topping the pops came to perform seen many here over the years nice to return after so long and to take my partner the central lakes esp this time of year as leaves are turning was a pleasure to us both and its beautifully kept the backdrop being the regency mansion in the full manner of palladio perfect in proportion with rising terraced steps the park perfectly complements it. The walks round are lovely and this weekend we had a good spell of dry weather to enjoy it. Car parking good and information and a cafe too which was welcome for coffee can recomend for children and large families something for everyone and not far from Leeds City centre but almost an oasis amongst the humdrum of the city we both loved it well worth a visit

Due to the limited amounts of fun to be had during lockdown, one way of passing my free time has been to visit some of the parks in Leeds for a stroll on weekends. This one happens to be one of the busier ones I have opted for but its understandable once you've managed to go around.

Great scenery on offer including huge parks, flower gardens, a pond and plenty of wildlife. Many people visit here with picnics, feed the ducks and play games with the family and I can imagine it is quite the hot spot in the peak of summer.

There were 2 car parks nearby, both of which get pretty full so I would advise planning ahead and getting here early if you wish to visit. There is also an ice cream truck in the one which is an added bonus on your return to the car.

Roundhay park is stunning, spanning over 700 acres of parkland, lakes and woodland, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park has national plant collections, Canal and Rainbow garden(s), Tropical World and café, playgrounds (Children’s Adventure Trails), sport pitches (tennis courts, golf course, bowling green and sports arena), visitor centre, train ride, toilets and The Mansion for hosting events.
There are species of Gulls, Geese, Mute/Whopper Swans, Herons, Great Crested Crebes, Common War-blers and Woodpeckers, which visitors enjoy feeding from the side of the larger lake (Waterloo) which is also used for fishing, the smaller lake (Upper) is a wildlife area.
With such an array of attractions to savour it is the ideal place to visit on a summer day, take a leisurely stroll along both lakes or the many woodland paths off the beaten track; but do take care after sunset. The larger lake is extremely popular with amblers, joggers and cyclists, the park is fantastic for a family picnic and soaking up the sun. You can always find a secluded location if you want some privacy even if the park is seething with visitors.
After a leisurely stroll you can quench your thirst and sample the fresh cakes and snacks available
at the picturesque Lakeside café.
Roundhay Park is a must place to visit for locals and tourists – it must be one of the finest parks in the UK, spectacular, well maintained, clean, tranquil, safe to visit and easily accessible on public transport.

Roundhay Park never fails to offer solace and joy to the many people, both local and from far away who visit its acres of rolling green spaces. There are two lakes, both with islands. One has a fountain and there are footpaths which wind through the woods and join the two lakes. There are ornamental gardens, formal flower beds and footpaths which will take you around the extensive tracts of public space. The Lakeside Cafe offers quality refreshments and facilities to cater for virtually any visitor.
Safe play areas for children are provided and they are sports facilities too. Try a day out here!

Beautiful place fantastic views and gorgeous lake, worth the visit.the only place we didn’t like was the lakeside cafe, the food was not great and we were served warm bottle water and warm soft drinks and as it was very hot they needed to be cold. It was also expensive.

We love walking through Roundhay Park, and if you are into exercise, jogging, running, cycling, or even yoga - there are plenty of places to pull out your mat and namaste! Even if you are just a keen step counter - a walk here will get those numbers up. The Chelsea gardens are great and always so very well kept. To say this is also a hot spot for the odd concert I have never experienced Roundhay Park looking any less than the wonderful I am able to show in my photos. Comfy shoes are recommended and possibly wellies when wet. The lakeside café is also great! A really peaceful area to catch a drink and bite to eat. Really nice food! Generally a really lovely day out in the summer months.

What a lovely discovery. It was beautiful! Busy, but plenty of places to park, even though it was a Saturday and we even managed to snag a space by the lake. Took my Mum here for an afternoon out as she's been shielding and couldn't wait to have some freedom!.....There's plenty of space even though it's busy. Nice picnic spots all around the lake. 100% recommend visiting. Lake views are really relaxing and seeing the swans....you can almost forget about all your worries, including the lock down we're all so glad to be emerging from!

Beauty above all through out the year you can see stunning scenes from lakes, fountains , and just the general pack. It's great for family's as well as couple and friends a safe well kept place full of laughter and fun. Amazing playgrounds make this iconic park just that little bit more amazing Both very recently built with help from the Roundhay park community.

We visited the playground near the Lakeside Cafe on a wet Sunday afternoon. It was a lot busier than I anticipated and that has deterred me from taking our daughter there on a weekend for a little bit - too many people in the playground too close together (in my opinion). We went on the train that takes you from one end of the park to the other and and we also went on the spinning sauces ride next to the playground - my 3 year old love these two activities!

This park is great for a gentle stroll or spending a full day with a picnic —weather permitting. There is a good sized lake with plenty of ducks to feed,in winter it’s quite muddy around the lake best to wear wellies. There is a small children’s playground and also a cafe serving hot drinks and snacks, the cafe is advertised as mother and baby friendly but my daughter had to change my granddaughter on the bathroom floor— not ideal. The park has lots of open grass space plus nice wooded areas.
