Played golf here as a member of another club I expected this course the calvely to be in top condition the greens were not in a good state ball bouncing all over when putting bunkers full of weeds growing I’ve played when it was a municipal and boy has it gone down hill .it cost my brother £105 for two with buggy for this price you expect more for your money the staff in the shop were excellent shame my experience was not the same would not recommend to anybody such a shame

Golf Course is Terrible
The golf course is in terrible condition, dandelions on Tee Box's, greens with weeds and not maintained. Overall it was really disappointing to see how the course has changed. Visited a couple of years ago and the course was beautiful, such a shame to see it in this condition. Definitely not worth £50 to play, they should be charging more like £15 it is that bad. Doubt we will ever visit again. Cannot speak for the hotel as we did not stay.

Played after a few dry days thinking the course would be difficult but manageable, how wrong I was, like playing in a quagmire! They really should close the course when it is this bad but obviously because they are part of a chain of hotels profit margins come first, had winter golf shoes on and still slipped on a couple of tees, in some place there should be steps up to the tee areas but instead it is just a slippery slope, no sign of any investment in the course over past few years, if you want a game wait until summertime

Well worth a visit for a good game of golf.

We visited Oulton Hall to play golf and have a bite to eat. The range where we warmed up was nicely set up. We had the choice of mats or grass areas. The charge for range balls pretty much standard. We played nine hole course and whilst wet underfoot as expected, the fairways were clear of leaves and very playable. The greens were in decent condition and obviously had good green staff looking after them. The course was well signposted and bridges and signage were all in good condition. The changing room and showers were well maintained and a pleasure to use. We had a bar meal afterwards and my sandwich was fine and decent value. Overall a good experience and one to visit again.

Enjoyable golf break.

Lovely accommodation, good food and a pleasant place to spend a few days.
The course was in good condition, except for the bunkers, which were full of stones. Overall it was enjoyable experience. I found the pro a bit off hand, but you can't have everything!

Our party of 12 celebrated a forthcoming wedding here! The staff were so friendly and helpful even though the hotel was busy with wedding celebration parties we were well looked after. Part of our Golfbreak package meant we got 20% off bar prices which helped! The courses are good quality and challenging enough for even the low handicapper. Some tees need a tidy up, on the whole the greens were in good condition, a few spoiled by less considerate golfers un repaired pitch marks. Great situation, building and rooms, pool and spa means we will return.Leeds is on the doorstep and provides a great night out.

Christmas with a smile.

First time visit to this place. We normally spend the holiday period elsewhere and so compare everything to here. Blown away by how different it was. There is no corporate feel to the place. The staff were wonderful. Natural and not simply going through the motions. M'D gave an over and beyond level of service and his friendly relaxed manner carried through to all of the staff. Nice building and grounds , and although we aren't golfers, may try it next year. Food and service was a delight. Well done and thank you to all for our most enjoyable Christmas away.

Puzzling contrast.

I was puzzled and saddened by the poor quality of a potentialy nice layout. By contrast the hotel and dining were imaginative and excellent. I can't believe that such attention to detail in one part of the organisation allows itself to be let down by another.
To be fair the greens were good. The fairways/ graded rough, like everywhere else, have suffered with the dry summer. But, everywhere else is scarifying and reseeding. The bunkers are dangerously undermaintained with club breaking rock just below the surface (left 11th, left 7th). There seemed to be plenty of staff driving around so staffing doesn't seem to be the issue.
So what is it, this could be a jewel...should be the reason why people come to Oulton Hall, not why they stay away.

Nice course with potential

Over a weekend stay, we played all 27 holes.

This is a lovely location, course has more hills and climbs than I expected, but is fairly compact so not to difficult to walk.

Challenging in places, tight tree lined fairways and some thick rough to contend with.

The time we played was during the warm weather, the greens were fine to putt on, but very hard and in need of the watering system being used.

The bunkers though are shameful, poor condition, little of no sand, lots of stones in them, I would expect better.
