Booked a round for my husbands birthday. He is 9 handicap and I'm 36 so big difference between our level of golf. This course was good for both and the 27 holes on offer provides great flexibility. There is also a great range available. We hired a buggy and if I was to criticise anything , we would have liked a little more signposting to help us move from hole to hole.

I stayed here with a group of friends on a golfing weekend.
The general ambience in the hotel, public rooms, restaurants, bars etc are most definitely 5 star - but of course 5 star prices for drinks food etc. The hotel is let down by its rooms which are quite dated, particularly the bathrooms (old fashioned tiling, shower over bath with one of those awful shower curtains!).
The staff here are superb and kept us rowdy bunch of lads under good control whilst being polite and making us feel at home.
We ate in the Claret Jug restaurant (in an adjoining building to the main hotel) on both nights - food was above average, portions a bit on the small side. Breakfast is served in the main building of the hotel and was of a good atandard - Sunday breakfast was very hectic though and queues at the buffet where longer than you'd like (No major problem if you've got the time but not if youve got a golf game to go to).
The hotel is set in large grounds with a 27 hole golf course.

Couldn't get in at the claret jug for Sunday lunch so went to golf club restaurant instead
Showed to our table which was in the 19th bar area we were surrounded by golfers mostly doing small presentations.
Our table wasn't set up all that was on it was glasses for water and a wooden holder with knives and forks salt and pepper more I think in keeping with fast food.
We ordered starters which arrived after a short time but we had to ask for side plates.
Our main courses arrived and were nicely served the only cutlery brought was sharp knives for meat everybody else had to dip into the box again( not really 5 star service)
Four people had fish and chips 1 had gammon and 1 had steak.
The only good meal was the gammon.
The steak was asked to be medium rare was served well done
The fish was not very good wet with no taste No exception to frozen fish but this was of poor quality.
Hopefully the main restaurant is better but I have my doubts.

The golf course is in terrible condition, dandelions on Tee Box's, greens with weeds and not maintained. Overall it was really disappointing to see how the course has changed. Visited a couple of years ago and the course was beautiful, such a shame to see it in this condition. Definitely not worth £50 to play, they should be charging more like £15 it is that bad. Doubt we will ever visit again. Cannot speak for the hotel as we did not stay.

Fairways like mowed fields, no definition. Bunkers full of stones and foot prints. Tees either long grass, bare soil and in several instances just tee markers in the fairway. Greens had just been Hollow Tined without being filled in so putting a lottery. NO advance warning and no reduction on the pre paid fees.

Appauled at the service here. The plug fell apart whilst using the kettle which gave out an electric shock. After emailing 4 times have had no response after paying over hundred pounds for one night's stay.

One of the societies I play for muted that they intended our season finale to be a weekend at Oulton Park this year. Having played there previously I voiced my concerns over the choice as I had found the experience one of the worst i've known.
Despite my reticence I agreed to visit in the hope that DeVere may have addressed the numerous issues I'd had before. How wrong could I have been. If you're thinking about a visit here then there are several factors you should assume will definitely occur.
Front of House - Reception: On each of my three visits here I have experienced payment issues every time. Twice they have overcharged and once they tried not to charge me at all even though I offered to pay. When you attempt to address payment problems the staff simply state that it's someone else's problem and as it's a weekend they aren't around to answer any queries. Very convenient and very irritating.
GOLF - How Oulton can be so busy is beyond me. It's certainly not people returning as unlike myself if you've been here before you're unlikely to return as the same problems occur over and over again. The course itself is pretty enough although there is a lot of scope for some intense TLC everywhere. There are divots aplenty on most holes, the rough is extreme if you are more than 7-8 yards from the fairway and the greens whilst good to to look at are incredibly slow.
More importantly the lack of decent organisation is astounding at Oulton. We were forced to play a different combination of 2 of the 3, 9-holes on offer than those we had paid for. At least the buggies we had booked were available for the first day as come day two's round (and after a late night in the very expensive clubhouse) we were left buggieless after another overbooking error by staff. So faced with the long walk we made our way to the 1st tee for day two's round only to find another 30 golfers (we were a party of 25) already on the tee with the same allocated tee time. Throw some disgruntled members who were also on the tee mid-comp and you can imagine the atmosphere.
No matter the offer I will never return to Oulton. You definitely get the vibe that once they've got your money no one really gives a 'monkeys' here at that is unforgivable anywhere.
