Very quiet during the day
Aug 2021
Leeds docks, at a lot of which is canal-side housing, restaurants and the Royal Armouries was deserted during the day. Car parking was easy and the visit to the Royal Armouries was great – on the hour, every hour, the Royal Armouries has a small outside display open to all to watch.

So Peaceful
Sep 2021 • Friends
Leeds Dock is only a short walk from the city centre or you can take the taxi boat from just behind the train station.

It is so peaceful here and I love to sit on the astroturf area and just look up at the apartments and sky. It’s a nice area to sit and relax and get away from the busy city centre.

There are also enough shops and restaurants nearby if you’re feeling peckish.

Peaceful

There are cafes, restaurants and shops along these do and some lovely seating areas to while away an hour. Lots to see as well with swimming in the dock on a weekend too. It is lovely and peaceful but only a 15mins walk into the city centre

A nice walk, but that's about it

My partner and I visited here yesterday and walked the length of the dock and back. We found that there wasn't much to do (there were a few restaurants if you wanted to have dinner but nothing else). A nice walk though, just a shame it was raining!

Unfortunately there isn’t much to do here
Feb 2020 • Family
If the weather is poor you wouldn’t even want to come here. There is a war museum which you can kill about an hour time. Other than this there really is nothing to do here. It’s nice and quite if you are a resident but that’s it.

Water taxi
Aug 2019
Its billed as Leeds secret transport link.... well there were enough of us waiting by the dockside on a mid week afternoon to make me think its not a well kept secret! The boat (there are supposed to be a couple but the other seems permanently drydocked) are ex Amsterdam water taxis. They start at the back of Leeds station on the canalside and take you down river to the Royal Armouries. Cost £1 each! The pilot was a youngish 30something with enough tourist chatter to keep the ride interesting and a sideline in early 90s libertarian -socialist anarchist rock music to keep me bemused. The boats progress can be followed via their website so you can get an idea of how long your wait is. As a way to get the Armouries from the city centre its a cheap, larky, different way.

Boat to Armouries
Nov 2019 • Family
My wife suggested rather than walking along the river to get to the Armouries that we get the water taxi. It’s £1 per person and leaves from nearby the boathouse pub and takes you to right outside the armouries. It’s a novel way to get to the armouries and our daughter certainly enjoyed it instead of walking!

Came upon this by surprise. What a bargain. The kids (4 and 2) loved it. Friendly captain. Topped of our day brilliantly.
