Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors...

Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors after British Art Show 8 ends on 10th January 2016. This is to allow for major repairs to the Victorian roof of the building. The building will reopen in 2017. The beautiful Tiled Hall cafe will remain open to visitors whilst these works take place as will the Gallery shop. We apologise for the disappointment this will cause.

Tarnished Earth Exhibition

Fabulous gallery which organises amazing major exhibitions! Last time I saw 'Tarnished Earth' about tar sands constituting one of our planet's greatest threat. Great exhibition.

We ordered a light lunch and waited over two hours. While it was busy, we did wait an hour before going to ask for our order. We were told it was coming but it did not arrive. When we complained, we were told they had run out of the dishes we ordered and we were not given any alternatives. We... More

My wife and I were looking forward to our visit to this gallery as we have been meaning to visit for a few years now. There was one room on the ground floor devoted to traditional paintings which was interesting and had a few people viewing the exhibits. The rest of the space in this building was devoted to modern... More

Went to see the British Art Show 8 at the Leeds Art Gallery, an interesting exhibition but not quite our taste, but interesting all the same and well presented by the Gallery

Overall a little disappointed; much of it was closed and there was little given over to conventional art but much given to their contemporary art exhibition which was mainly based around video presentations and not really that interesting. Good shop though

I came for the standard collection pieces, but was caught by parts of the special exhibition of British Art Show 8. The strangely captivating movie Feed Me (Maclean) made me lose track of time. I also enjoyed the hands on experience, where I was given an interesting lecture on working with reed/rattan on furniture and baskets. Building is beautiful inside... More

I Spent some good times here, doing Art O and A levels we were encouraged to use this this space, The building alone is artistictly inspiring. We researched, looked at exhibits and did homework here as teenagers. In August i looked around bought a book. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience and another tick on the... More

Attended for the first time last week - I am ashamed I haven't been into this beautiful building before. I am no art expert (which is probably why I haven't been) however I didn't feel foolish and the staff were very friendly and informative. I found some pieces I was able to appreciate but my biggest joy came from the... More

Not overly impressed with the British Art Show - most of it was based round TV screens - not really showing artistic talent. Would have liked to see more art! Would benefit from being a true art gallery and showing many different genres. The gallery shop however is great and I'm so pleased to now be a member of the... More
