Description:

Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors...

Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors after British Art Show 8 ends on 10th January 2016. This is to allow for major repairs to the Victorian roof of the building. The building will reopen in 2017. The beautiful Tiled Hall cafe will remain open to visitors whilst these works take place as will the Gallery shop. We apologise for the disappointment this will cause.

The gallery is currently closed for exhibitions until 2017 but the cafe and shop/craft centre are open which have some nice items. However the toilets are in a very grotty state. There was only one toilet for both women and disabled which was filthy and unhygienic. My partner said that the male toilets were just as bad. Come on Leeds,... More

Such a wet morning , pouring it down so after a charity meeting in Leeds central library left via basement and into art gallery shop. What I did not know and is worth highlighting is the attached visitors information centre. Literally hundreds of brochures, free guides, for walkers , public transport, and drivers. On top of this were leaflets and... More

I simply love this gallery, and ensure I schedule a trip during every visit to Leeds. During my last visit, I was deeply moved spiritually and emotionally by an instalment that displayed the causes of death of young people in the 19th/20th century. Incredible.

This was our second visit to this lovely gallery and we already knew that the main gallery was closed at present due to roof repairs. However they have a beautiful cafe and we made a special trip to have coffee there just to take in the surroundings. One can also get a glimpse of the lovely tiles and staircase when... More

Although gallery is closed, yet no mention until you ask in entrance, was diverted to an arts & craft ship next door, down some steps. Well worth a visit like a mini art gallery

The art gallery is currently closed, and will remain so for the majority of 2016. Still, you can enter the building and see down into the central gallery. The cafe is still open and it's well worth looking in as the ceiling is fantastic.

Visited in January on a rainy day and it was the perfect place to escape the weather. It's a beautiful building and once you've seen everything you can pop into the café for a lovely lunch. There is a mix of old and modern being shown. Although I prefer the older pieces it's definitely worth wandering around to take in... More

Good to view some of the art pieces on display. We took a long leisurely stroll around. Even if you've only an hour to spare pop in.

-Free gallery -Free wifi -Beautiful building, unfortunately the gallery is going through changes and only one was room was opened -You a coffee place, not many options there but it's OK for a drink. -The library is in the same building and it's worth a visit -There's a shop in the library and one at the end of the building
