I have lived in Leeds a couple of years and made the most of city centre living. But have not made the most of the countryside walks. Otley Chevin Forest was my first venture out. Easy to find as it's only a 15 min drive from the centre. Once at the car park it was a muddy walk (it had... More

I have heard the Chevin described as the best low level ridge walk in England. There are some great views and a mixture of open and wooded country. A fairly steep ascent if you start from Otley, but you can park at the top at "surprise view" which is also convenient for the Royalty pub (lunches served).

Decided to head to the forest for a picnic before going elsewhere. Unfortunately, we could not find an entrance tothe forest and after half an hour of driving round we gave up. We were following the sat nav with the postcode above, which showed up, but did not show any roads leading to it! We found one brown sign which... More

After dropping our 2 youngest daughters at Leeds Bradford airport, we were searching for dog walking options. We fell upon this wonderful place; so many paths, a whole day of options. Would be wonderful children, our dog definitely enjoyed her Sunday afternoon

This is a great spot for circular walks rewarded by a Great View from the Top of The Chevin. A mixed walk with lovely woods with well maintained paths and also open high level moorland. There is normally an Ice Cream van in the Car Park at the top. Very Dog Friendly but be aware there are a few spots... More

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Leeds this is worth a visit. It has lots of different length walks for different fitness levels.

Brilliant walks, great views, free parking and on our doorstep. What more could you want? We took the Geology Trail this time which was hard work but well worth it

Top of the Chevin is a walk along the ridge which over looks Otley town and beyond ....Walk is hard going if you are coming up from town from Birdcage Walk area. There is a large car park here at the top and plenty of space to explore and walk with families and dogs...Not good terrain for those with walking... More

Situated a little south of Otley in West Yorkshire, Chevin Forest Park really consists of 3 areas. From east to west the park consists of, Caley Deer Park, Chevin Forest Park & The Chevin. Most of Caley Deer Park & Chevin Forest Park is cultivated woodland plantation with a plethora of wide tracks running throughout the woodland. Once in the... More
