Took the grandsons 8 and 10 for a taster climbing hour. They loved it. They have climbed before but I was really impressed with Matt who taught them. He had a friendly and encouraging manner which they responded well to. Have now booked them in to a 6 week climbing group there.
Only thing I would add is it could be warmer if you're sitting waiting!- layer up the clothes!

I had an Adult induction session today with Matt. He was really friendly, encouraging, and the training session was excellent!! It was my first time climbing, and I feel like I've learned the most important things to get started. Warm up, safety tricks, and lot of advice. I'm definitely coming back soon!!

Had an Adult induction session yesterday and Matt was really friendly and really good with his training. The facilities itself was very spacious and wasn't crowded, everyone had a face mask or visor on and there was antibac gel available for use around the facilities. It's really fun to be there and despite going alone I ended up talking to a few people as we were trying to tackle the same route and discuss the different approaches to being successful. I will 100% make it a regular place I frequent

I took my 5 year old to introduce him to Bouldering. We were very impressed. All the Covid safety features are very reassuring. We had an induction from a member of staff which was so well done, my 5 year old loved it.
I was then able to supervise him myself as well as have a go - a welcome opportunity to do a physical activity that I like too! A really great set up for a single parent as we could take it in turns to climb.
We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for more.

Have been climbing at the lab for 3 years or so now. Recently bought a 10 climb punch pass (as is my usual), but frustratingly was injured on my first climb and I’m now not going to be able to use the remaining 9 climbs.

I contacted them to see if there was any way I could pay them for my individual climb last week, but cancel the punch pass for the remaining 9, so that I’m not paying for all of the entries I won’t be able to use.

My e-mail was ignored, and when I called to ask, I was told point-blank there is a no refunds policy.

I appreciate that policies need to exist, and why. I also understand that if I’d just started climbing at the lab, climbed 4 or 5 times and realised I didn’t like it, then it’s probably tough luck.

I’m really disappointed that they are unwilling to help reach some form of solution, and are instead happy to charge me £55 for 1 climb, with no recognition of the fact I’m now physically incapable of using the service I’ve paid for.

I’m sure it won’t matter to them given their recent expansion and popularity but for me its completely soured my opinion of the place. There are ways to engage with customers and to implement and explain policies and this isn’t it.

I absolutely love climbing here, always the highlight of my week - Great variety of problems of different styles, technicalities and difficulties with the only indoor top out bouldering wall in Leeds and the best campus and peg board ever along with great advanced training facilities!
The routes are regularly reset keeping it fresh and interesting, but still plenty of time to try nail it if you don't get it first session.
Staff are all super friendly, great tunes of all different genres and lovely kids climbing corner to take my 2 year old nephew to teach him how to become a ninja!

Our first visit involved an induction with one of the intstructors who provided an excellent introduction to bouldering, covering all the safety stuff and engaged brilliantly with my 5 & 9 year olds. The facilities are fantastic and the staff all very friendly and helpful. I’d recommend Climbing Lab to anyone interested in trying climbing/ bouldering and it clearly also caters for very experienced ones too. In a word, Ace!

I've been to a lot of bouldering walls and though Lab isn't top of my list, it's pretty high!

Good stuff - The staff are really friendly and helpful. It's a very friendly place to start climbing and I like how the layout lets you sit in the middle for a cuppa whilst watching all the walls around you and the drinks (especially the coffee!!!) are all amazing. I also like how grippy the walls are (which helps for trickier problems!) and how the routes tend to be more interesting and puzzly then other walls I've been to which tend to rely more on pure strength. It's also quite good for groups with kids as they have games and stuff to entertain them and the layout makes it easy to keep an eye on them or the wall all the time. And the changing rooms/facilities are all super nice, always clean and tidy.

Less good stuff - It's one of the smaller walls I've been too and they have a lot of overhangs which is difficult for beginners, though they do put the easier grades of problems on the overhangs which is good as not all walls do. The route setting can be really off sometimes - I've been climbing 3yrs now and I sometimes can't do a V0-1 problem at lab but will be able to do V3+...? And sometimes I can do more of the V2-3 than the V1-2,,, Though I think this has improved a lot recently! Also, I do find at lab there tend to be more routes that you simply can't do if you're small - I'm 5ft4in and I often have to find away around routes that taller people can do easily but at lab some routes, no matter what I try, I simply cannot reach the next hold.

Overall - really friendly and interesting but room to improve with the route setting!
