Dropped in for a pint as staying in the area, really friendly staff and also customers. Advised us where to eat even came out on street to point us in right direction. Can highly recommend the Blonde Ale

Shame about the clientele........
Oct 2019
Residing in Co Durham these days and in the area briefly for a family party, I was keen to show Diane possibly the smallest pub in town. The beer was excellent but we only stayed for the one drink as we were offended at the effing & jeffing being spouted by a (I don't think so - far too small!) so-called rugby fan

Proper boozer, brilliant clientele

I rocked up in here after a day's hike, following a quick shower at my Travelodge. The plan was first stop on a pub crawl, but I stayed because I liked the Percy Vears so much. Small, cosy pub which sells good beer without making a fuss about it. Decent number of people in. Turned out it was quiz night, and the easygoing locals invited me to join in. The quiz wasn't very formal, so it wasn't one where the place goes quiet like a church. Some of it was on paper, put together by the funny, sarcastic quiz mistress, Dawn (landlady?), who was having some trouble with her equipment. Lots of people in the pub of all ages and types. I had a chat with a surprising number of them. A proper lovely evening, in a pub like they used to be. As the "visitor", I had the honour of drawing the raffle winner, who went on to take part in a convoluted form of Play Your Cards Right. You have to give the owners credit for putting on these diversions--a clientele these days doesn't grow on its own. All I'd heard in advance was bad things about Keighley (not that I took any notice), but the Percy Vears is one of the friendliest--and, in its way, most civilised--pubs I've been to in Yorkshire.

I've just visited this pub, and although it's tiny, it's a great little spot. The barman is polite and jovial and the atmosphere is welcoming.

A real gem
The Percy Vears is a clean, friendly, small pub which is a two minute walk from the bus station.
Being a real ale house, there are always two guest ales plus Saltaire Blonde and John Smiths cask. Ciders and lagers are also available as are a good selection of bottles, top shelf drinks and wines.
Prices are very cheap, the beers are well kept and the staff are among the friendliest you'll find anywhere.
If you've walked past this pub, you've missed a real gem.

Superb ale
Saltaire Blonde served in superb condition and the pub is cask marque too! Beer from other smaller breweries here and no sign of a smoothflow pump which is always a good sign!
