The Passionate Brontes is an inspiring and entertaining stroll through the lives and times of Rev Patrick Bronte's remarkable family. The guide uses their poems, letters and novels to weave their story into the fabric of the village. This is a gentle stroll with a relaxed pace that lasts just over an hour and covers less than half a mile around the top of the village and finishes the story in the Bronte Chapel.

Johnnie Briggs is the best guide to the moors and the Brontes that I could imagine. He is knowledgeable about the family and tells their story with engaging passion and a sense of humor. He is just as knowledgeable about the moors. On our 4-hour walk, he pointed out features of the landscape -- its biology and its history --... More

A very special five hours was spent walking over the Bronte Moors, listening to the soundscapes of lapwings, skylarks, the wind amongst the heather, the streams and the evocative tales told by the extremely knowledgeable guide, Johnnie Briggs. It is a truely beautiful part of the country and was everything I hoped it would be. You will not be disappointed...the... More

Had a wonderful time on the walks with Johnnie Briggs. He tells a great story and is so knowledgeable about the area and the Brontes. I was in lucky enough to be in Haworth when the BBC was filming - and he took me out to see one of the sets before it was torn down. Such a fun time.... More

I can't reccomend the walk with Johnnie Briggs enough ....He is just the nicest and most engaging story teller you could ever ever meet ! We were with him, my 19 year old son and I for around two hours but it flew by. We didn't walk far around the village of Haworth and yet I felt I had been... More

Johnnie collected us from Keighley Station on the day that Haworth was alive with celebrating Charlotte's 200 year anniversary. We valued hearing his wonderful, sometimes very moving insights into the Bronte family. Thank you again Johnnie. Highly recommended.

A superb walk over the moors with a great guide. The views were fantastic and Johnnie Briggs provided valuable input to the area. It was lovely to relax while walking, experiencing locations which possibly inspired the Bronte sisters without having to refer to a map. We would never have found Penistone Crag, which was perhaps the climax of the walk... More

Last Saturday the four of us ventured up to Haworth to explore the Bronte story. We were greeted by the most interesting and enthusiastic guide I have ever had the good fortune to meet. During the following couple of hours I was enthralled and entertained by this knowledgeable and passionate historian who made you feel a part of this historical... More

I've travelled from Australia and was only in Haworth for the week, and thankfully Johnnie was happy to take me up for a walk to Top Withens, he also stopped to show me the BBC set they're building of the parsonage, as well as Ponden Hall. I honestly can't thank Johhnie enough for his great company; his passion for the... More

Johnny is definitely passionate about all things Bronte! It was our first visit to Howarth and I am very glad that I booked this tour. If you have a fleeting knowledge of the Bronte empire then this tour is definitely for you. It helps anchor your understanding of the themes and characters of the novels especially Jane Eyre and Wuthering... More
