- Truemantwo19 contributionsVery goodA full railway experience. Good staff, great views. Lots of well done historical experiences. Take time to wander round Hawarth without having to find somewhere to park.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 28, 2023
- MetcalfekimHalifax, United Kingdom4 contributionsElf ExpressWe went on the Elf Express Santa Train and it was perfect. From the moment we walked in to check in where there was a dressed up train and snow scene. The food on offer was amazing even had a hot and cold gluten free option. On the train there was an Elf show in the carriage and then of course the meeting with Santa and great value presents. Throughout the train ride there were refreshments for the children and adults. All our children (aged 3, 2, and 6 months) thoroughly enjoyed their day.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 26, 2023
- TraceyHalifax, United Kingdom316 contributionsThe best yet!!We thoroughly enjoyed last years Elf Explorer but this years was even better! So well organised from the minute we entered the parking area until the finish. There was no waiting outside in the cold, we were straight into the railway shed where the magic began! Our 3 year old grand daughter loved the Elf Show and writing a letter to Santa. We had bacon sandwiches and drinks in the attached marquee which was warm and had plenty of room. Then onto the train and our reserved seats. More entertainment by the elves and reindeer along with mince pies and mulled wine and sweets and drinks for the kids. Finally the main man arrived with good quality presents and photo opportunities . Excellent Worth Valley Railway, it was brilliant! Roll on next year!Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 10, 2023
- GrannyPeaDunure, United Kingdom141 contributionsBloomin brilliant!Wow! We took our granddaughter on the Santa special and aside from being confused by the parking arrangements this was a 5 star experience. Oxenhope station was beautifully decorated with plenty to see. Early morning refreshments were ready and waiting and not over priced. The station entertainment was perfect for all ages and once on the train the treats just kept on coming, great entertainment, lovely Santa with a perfect present, mulled wine, mince pies and treats for the little ones. Really not sure how this was all done for the price, excellent value and we will return next year. (Far superior to other heritage train services in Yorkshire)Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 20, 2023
- Mumster M2 contributionsBetter than last year!Winter Wonderland again, a huge improvement on last year. Firstly the sandwiches, last year it got chucked. This year, it was absolutely spot on! Elf show could do with kids seating as I was losing my mind as eldest at the front and me and baby further back. Staff on the doors to prevent escapes would help with my anxiety that everyone is going to take my children. Train needs a good scrub, windows, edges. The guy serving the drinks, must be a volunteer, he was amazing! The elves on the train, didn't really give my boy a look, they spent a lot of time on the other carriage and missed us which was a shame, I'd say they should focus on a carriage at a time rather than trying to move so quickly up and down the carriage. Santa was brilliant, and I'm sure it was the same guy pushing the sled as last year! The train ride is great, we crack out a lunch box and have snacks as it was tea time, and a bit of help on and off the train would br greatly appreciated with baby in arms and 5 year old it's a bit of a task carrying presents too! Which were great also! The difference to last year, we didn't have to walk by the carriage with the "paid extra" crackers and the carriage all done put nicely, this year my boy wasn't gutted and I didn't feel like a Ln absolute failure as a mum not able to spend that additional money on the "special" tickets. All in all, we would do it again next year unless we see something else.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 23, 2023
- Rosie CShipley, United Kingdom59 contributionsWonderful experienceThe whole experience was amazing. It was just right for our granddaughter who is 6 after Christmas. We enjoyed it so much we wouldn’t go anywhere else next year. The price was very reasonable in comparison to other such events and the gifts very good. We spent an extremely well organised and enjoyable couple of hours at the event which left us feeling very christmasy. The Elves and Santa we all wonderful.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 24, 2023
- Mandy9 contributionsGood but very busy and no mince pies given out on “mince pie special”Went on the “mince pie special” but didn’t get mince pies. We went last year and did get mince pies then. Both times it was really busy. We had a drive of about an hour 40 minutes to get there and were later arriving than we wanted due to traffic. There was a big queue for the tickets (we’d booked online but then had to change our date so did so at the kiosk before we got on the train). I think you could buy tickets on the train but we had to queue or rather husband did while we hovered by the train waiting to get on. They waited for us which was good of them. There weren’t many seats and had to split our group of four and sit with two couples a few seats apart but only for five minute until the first stop when quite a few got off. Last year we queued for 20 minutes at the kiosk at Keighley to get drinks but this time got drinks straight away. Went all the way from Oxenhope to Keighley and back to Haworth on the same train (about 25 minutes in Keighley) stopped at Haworth for lunch and a walk and back to Oxenhope where we had another cuppa. Good day out but would have enjoyed it more if it had been a bit less busy! Definitely need to book for lunch at Haworth (Fleece Inn was excellent).Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 29, 2023
- MikeGlossop, United Kingdom1,329 contributionsWinter visitIt was a grotty day between Christmas and New Year, cold and wet. Had a nice trip out on a day rover ticket for a reasonable ÂŁ21 and travelled on both the steam and railcar services. Visited the museums at Ingrow and Oxenhope. On the plus side the trains were fairly warm, tidy and all running to time. There were hot bacon and sausage rolls at Oxenhope and the real ale on the train was excellent. On the negative side the beer ran out mid afternoon for a short while and many of the stations lacked fires in the waiting rooms. Other than the cold dampening spirits it was a good day.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 30, 2023
- BlueFox17Leicester, United Kingdom275 contributionsMince Pie SpecialsMy girlfriend and I visited on December 28th for the Mince Pie Specials. We parked at Oxenhope, mainly due to restricted parking at Keighley. Despite the weather, the railway was very busy but we got seats together on both trains . The mince pies were delicious. All staff and volunteers we came across were lovely, and we bought a few things from the shop at Oxenhope. A lovely afternoon out.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 31, 2023
- familyoffiveonholsNew Zealand296 contributionsMince pie special funWe pre booked our ticket online, which allowed us peace of mind and a quick start to the experience. This wouldn't allow you to jump any queue if there was one. We had a great few hours travelling on steam trains. We could have travelled on a diesel, but we are Steam fans. The train was clean and had a good supply of food and drink on board, including hand pulled beers. It was a lovely experience that felt uniquely British, topped off by the free mince pies.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 3, 2024

We travelled to Ingrow West as there appeared to be hassle free parking as was the case. Arrived as the station opened up before the first train from Keigthley. We had purchased a reasonably priced 'Rover' ticket online and just had to produce the reference number to obtain tickets. We then had unlimited travel to all stations for the day. Waiting for the train took you back to past times at a quiet halt as the steam engine came into view. Plenty of room and not crowded we travelled up and down the line breaking the journey at Haworth and Keighley. Keighley where you join the BR service has the feel of a main line City Station with ornate pedestrian ramp and walkway over the tracks ( featured in the film 'Yanks.) The other stations more of a rural feel. They were all in excellent decorative order depicting LMS livery. You travel through the countryside past villages nestling in green rolling dales, interspersed with towering repurposed Mills. Carriage and Engine Shed museum at Ingrow, with entrance included in "Rover' ticket. Altogether a great day out for all ages.

While we were staying in beautiful Haworth we decided to take a ride on the Famous Keighley Steam Train, it was pure magic. We boarded at Haworth station, it first goes to Oxenhope were the engine detaches and goes around to the other end of the train, ( you can take photos of the footplate ), then it sets off down to Keighley where the engine changes again to the other end of the train, once again there is lots of photo opportunities on the station. There is a bar on the train which is very handy, it also sells snacks, it's just a fabulous trip down memory lane, the smell of the steam engine, the chugging along the tracks, the gorgeous views, it was the best 2hrs ever....all aboard for a great adventure.

Once again a thoroughly enjoyable visit to the KWVR, this time for their diesel gala. A great selection of locos on offer to ride behind taking in the stunning scenery (and a pint of real ale from the on train bar !). All staff encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. If you can I would recommend you have a guided tour of the sheds at Haworth when available. For a small donation a tour guide will take you round the sheds and give an extremely informative and enthralling talk of the locos and the history of the railway making for a fascinating hour.
A brilliant day out !

We are a family of 4 that did the afternoon tea on 10th April but was very disappointed as the items that we had were not as advertised. There were just 4 little tiny finger sandwiches to share between 2 people, half a scotch egg each, 5 little mini cakes for 2 people to share & 1 cupcake to share, didn’t even get a muffin each, which when I booked was supposed to have been a Yorkshire pudding filled with chocolate & cream, when I enquired was told it’s been replaced with a muffin. Also was supposed to have unlimited tea & coffee but had 1 cup
We have done afternoon teas before & you usually get 4 finger sandwiches each, 4 little cakes each, a mini quiche each, 2 scones each. This cost ÂŁ140 and we felt it was rip off
Here are a couple photos of our previous afternoon teas & then the menu & afternoon tea on the train

Over 50 years since I first visited the Worth Valley, and I have been there most years since, usually around my mid-October birthday, it is always five-star in all respects.
This year was a bit different, with all the COVID restrictions in place, but the railway had done a superb job in implementing them, giving us a wonderful ride while keeping properly safe and distanced. A great effort and another lovely day out!!

I had a very enjoyable visit to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. Originally I had planned to visit in April 2020 but COVID-19 put a stop to that!
I booked my ticket in advance and saved 10% which was very handy!
On the day I visited it was a very rainy day but that did not stop me enjoying a day out at the railway. There is quite a bit to see at all the stations depending on what your interests are. I got off at Ingrow West and visited the two museums there.
I then had a quick stop at Oakworth which is the station made famous in the film the Railway Children and finally I made it to the end of the line at Oxhope where there is a museum and a former railway carriage which is now used as a buffet.
All the staff I met were friendly and professional and did everything they could to make my visit enjoyable.

It's a long time since our last visit to KWVR so was looking forward to this with our first visit with the grandchildren. Booked in advance and arrived in plenty of time allowing our grandchildren to 'let off a bit of steam' in the play area at Oxenhope station. Prior to departure we were able to look around the museum at the station with an activity sheet for the children before being called to the platform in carriage number order. With a compartment to ourselves, which was cleaned prior to and after our visit we felt perfectly safe. The journey to Keighley and back just long enough to keep the grandchildren happy throughout.
Well done and I am sure we will be back before too long.

The railway staff who are all volunteers. Went above and beyond to accommodate and help my friend who was in her wheelchair and who is also deaf.
They provided a ramp to get her wheelchair onto the train and on the last train which only had a guards van big enough for the wheel chair we had a coach to ourselves and then brought the chair to her when we arrived at the station.
Each station had easy access to the platforms to avoid stairs.
Even though the volunteer in the museum shed was on his own he offered to come along between customers to help work the lift so my friend could get up to view the carriages from the platform.
Everyone was so helpful and considerate I would recommend to other wheelchair users

Having our grandson for the day, he wanted to visit the National Railway Museum but it was fully booked so we decided on a visit here. We just got the full line ticket, but wished we had got the Day Rover where you can hop on and hop off trains to your hearts content, because it meant we had to walk from Oxenhope so we could look at Haworth station. There's the set of the new film at Oxenhope which you can look around, so I was glad we stayed until journey;s end rather than alighting at Haworth as grandad wanted. We walked down the road from Oxenhope but if we had come prepared we would have brought our map so we could walk over the footpaths back into Howarth.
We didnt have time to visit Haworth village, as we wanted to be sure we caught the steam train back ,rather than the diesei, as it didnt have as many carriages, but we did have our picnic lunch in the park before continuing down to the station

We always enjoy a trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. The stations are a delight and it is great fun being pulled by a steam train. It is also a nostalgic reminder of the past - remember the smell of smoke in the tunnel, the risk of getting a smut in the eye and the sound of the loco as it pulls out of Keighley station?
Unfortunately the weather let us down this trip and it was a very wet Sunday. Rather than walking, we visited the Rail Story Musreum at Ingrow. The historic carriages are fascinating, especially the comparison of the luxury of the first class compartment with its toilet and the wooden seats in third class. There are old signs and plenty of things to admire. There is also a very good second hand book stall with books priced at a bargain 50p
We also had a quick look in the engine shed with two locos to admire and the wonderful cast iron spiral staircase.
The price is included in the cost of a day rover ticket and is excellent value. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The carriage shed at Oxenhope is also worth a visit as the loco runs round the train.

It is a five mile track. And you can hop on and off at all the stations. Oakworth is where they filmed the RailwY Children. You can get a day rover which also gives you entry to the museum and rail story, or just a round trip. Check out their Web site.
