A lovely start to the day in Chichester with friends. We went on the 1015 sailing and it was really relaxing, peaceful and calm on board.
Loved seeing a part of Chichester that we have never explored before. The staff at the cafe and ticket office were friendly, as were the gents on board taking the trip.
It was great to see the wildlife along the canal, wave to the walkers and cyclists on the canal path and watch the paddleboarders and small rowing boat move out of our way as we peacefully passed them.
At £8 per person for a 75 minute trip, we thought this was affordable and value for money.
Parking was free at the canal cafe for the duration of the visit/trip. This was a bonus. Thank you.

Booked the 1h15 trip - a very relaxing and informative trip down this historic canal - beautiful flora and fauna to be seen, plus a great view of Chichester Cathedral (similar to the view painted by Turner). This service is operated by very knowledgable volunteers, and the craft are of excellent quality. The café, operated by the same Trust, and adjacent to the embarcation point, had tasty and reasonably-priced snacks.

Only a short walk from the railway station, the Canal and the Trust Centre is a haven not to be missed. Whilst we did not take a canal river trip, the information centre and cafe were a delight in the autumn sunshine. We did walk a mile or more along the towpath and then sat watching the Canal and the passing bird life both in the air and on the water. Not to be missed.

Very many thanks for your kind feedback. The Canal is truly beautiful at most times of the year, but especially when bathed in Autumn sunshine. Please tell your friends and family to visit us and follow us on social media.

The canal boat trip was good. However the cream tea afterwards left a lot to be desired. Apparently the scones were bought earlier that day from Waitrose but the cafe staff then PUT THEM IN THE FRIDGE! So at 3.00 pm when we returned from our trip and looking forward to a nice cream tea - we had almost frozen scones that we could not cut in half and very cold jam. Yes, cream needs to be kept in a fridge but NOT the scones or jam!!!
I would never recommend their cream tea and at £5.50 it’s pricey.
Cafe staff gave either s small refund or offered cake instead. Don’t go there!!

Lady booking the boats was discriminatory to my name - after spelling it twice to her still began to type it differently stating it’s “different” with a chuckle. Asked to see my ID twice - inspecting every single part as if she didn’t believe I had a British driving license. Was given two mismatched ores which made it harder due to in equilibrium

Enjoyed our trip on this lovely picturesque canal the crew were very helpful with information etc covid precautions were in force but that did not affect our trip. There were six of us on the boat plenty of room to observe the wildlife, fishing etc.
We stopped off at the cafe before our trip cannot fault the service and cake we had so pleased to have supported this trust. A Popular little venue although parking was somewhat restricted but we managed.

Having done the boat trips many times in the past my parents decided that this was what they would like to do for their Diamond Wedding Anniversary and have a light lunch in the cafe afterwards. I had contacted the office of the Canal Trust just before the trip to ask if they could put my flowers and a balloon on a reserved table while we were out on the boat for a nice surprise when we go back and they kindly agreed to do this. They absolutely went above and beyond, having thoroughly enjoyed the gentle relaxing trip on the boat and the friendly boat "pilot", we went into the cafe to find that as well as putting the flowers and balloon on the table they had reserved the window table for us, put up bunting and prosecco in an ice bucket and a lovely card from the Canal staff. My parents were absolutely made up, as was I, so thoughtful. We were delighted and can highly recommend the canal for a special family event. I hope people realise that this is run by volunteers and they obviously take great pride in providing a good service.

A lovely leisurely trip down the canal in The Richmond with a cream tea included. We stopped along the way and walked over the bridge to see the view painted by Turner with Chichester Catheral in the distance. All the people operating the boat and serving tea are all volunteers. Very nice people.

A treat for our Mum for Mother's day. Pleasant surprise at the afternoon tea and prosseco provided , the tables had been decorated with pretty tablecloths, napkins and little flower pots. The crew were warm, friendly and knowledgeable. When we got off the all the mum's who were on the trip we're given a beautiful glass trinket that one of the volunteers had made. A lovely afternoon and our Mum had a wonderful time .

Mothers Day Cream Tea cruise.
My son and I took this cruise and it was lovely. The cream tea box of scones and cakes was beautifully presented. The tables were nicely but simply laid.
The cruise was just under 2 hours and included a short stop at Hunston, where you could get for a short while if you wished.
The two ladies who served the Prosecco and tea/coffee were very friendly and efficient and the skipper and sailor were friendly too.
My only criticism would be that it would be nice to have some more local information offered through the cruise about the canal and surrounding areas and the price was a little high for what was included and considering there was only tea or coffee on offer, hot chocolate would have been nice too.
But overall a lovely few hours and would look at other sailings again.

Anyone done the Easter bunny boat trip, wondering what this entails and if it is worth it for little ones
Written April 3, 2019
Easter bunny trips are aimed at children of all ages. The two "bunnies" board the boat at Hunston then entertain the children on the way back to the basin with singing games for the children to join in with. Each passenger is given a snack and drink (tea, coffee or soft drink and the children a little gift. Book eaqrly as these trips are very popular.

Hello. I was wondering if it was something i could do for a hen party...all older, sensible ladies i hasten to add ! But it could be quite a large party, 25 possibly and would we be allowed to have prosecco to drink on board (i would be happy to pay for it if you wanted to provide it for us) and some nibbles ? I am struggling to find a "nice" day out for us ladies without having to go to Brighton with all the young, pink tutu brigade ...not really us !! A late afternoon boat trip before a meal out would be ideal.... :)
Many thanks
Nicki

Would love to visit tomorrow late afternoon. Is this something I'd need to prepare for in terms of booking in advance?
Written July 20, 2016
Late answer - but no - hope you had a nice trip though!
Written August 25, 2016
Hello, thanks for your enquiry. I'm afraid that we only allow guide dogs on the scheduled and chartered trips. Dogs are allowed on the rising boats that we hire.
