Time was when cattle would be bought and sold in Arundel’s market square. Nowadays or at least every Saturday more likely to be sold are the products of animals bought sold and butchered elsewhere such as pork pies and sausage rolls in addition to steaks and lamb cutlets. But there’s much more besides including flowers plants and even Chichester made sloe gin. But why shut at 1pm particularly on a festival day. Could understand it if the square was to be used for bands and even dancing but nonesuch materialised.

Arundel Farmers' Market is brilliant! 3rd Saturday every month 9-1pm. On a lovely day many people attend. The same number of people need to attend in bad weather or the stallholders really struggle.
Stalls of watercress+products, cakes, lavender products, fish, different cheeses, all kinds of breads and pastries, fresh veg, chocolates, beers, oils, soaps, jams+chutneys, meats, pasta, eggs, fresh flowers+plants - EVERYTHING is there - provided by cottage industries - and deserves support. The Town Cryer resplendant in her costume is unique as she welcomes visitors - some of whom are busy photographing and recording the scene.
Stalls are located in three separate areas - in the Square and by the river.
I have been there in all weathers and have watched stallholders give up - who can't make a profit.
Coffee/tea shops are open. Antique shops open mid morning. There is usually a local craft fair on also.

This market is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. It is split in three areas to accomadate all the stalls. The stalls range from fresh fruit and vegetables. Also there are artisan bakers and cake stalls. There is a stall for fresh watercress and products made from it. You will also find fresh meats ranging from turkey sausages (try before you buy), chickens and pork products. There is also a stall for assorted dog bisuits and more besides. It runs from 9am-1pm. Why not make a day of it. It is a lovely place.

My husband and I went to Arundel which is only 7 miles from where we live just to have look round the town of Arundel to see if anything has changed since going there a few years ago. Yes we found this most unusual shop which is called Roly's Fudge Pantry, 25 High Street,in the window there was some Fudge, I was very interested in finding out about this shop I have never seen before.I looked into their window found that they make the fudge in the shop, so being nosey went into the shop and asked if it was true they made it in here. The lady told me they did that they had been in Arundel for three years and in this shop for two, she said you can have a piece for fifty pence or about five pieces for £1.80 and could mix up the flavours, I asked for a free sample to try and I was so impressed I bought the five pieces as my bag was a little over weight it came to £2.00. The flavours they do are as follows butterscotch, baileys, vanilla, rum and raisin, maple and walnut, chocolate these are only some of the over twelve different flavours they do, the delicious fudge is available to buy the piece,a bag or beautifully gift-wrapped boxes which can be made to your exact requirements. This shop is owned and run by mother and daughter Sue and Phoebe,it is handmade to a traditional Devon recipe.the fudge ingredients are heated to an extremely high temperature in large copper pots and poured onto a marble table to cool. Then it is cut into pieces ready to serve. They use locally sourced and Fair Trade ingredients where possible.i would recommend this place the fudge is extremely delicious, when returning to Arundel again I most certainly will be heading straight to the best Fudge shop ever.
Go and see what I mean, they also do fudge seasonally and celebratory as well.
Let me know what you think, I will be letting my family know of this remarkable shop in Arundel West Sussex, and best thing is I don't live far away from it.This review was about the lovely shop, and could only put it under the heading Famers Market, it is for everyone to see, young and old.

The market starts in the square and then sprawls along the river front. It must be one of the most picturesque locations of any market. Good variety of stalls. I bought a lovely rack of local lamb which was full of flavour and about half the price of what you would pay in a butchers,. There is a lot to see in Arundel so if you are coming to visit the town do try to come on a day when there is a farmers market. Far more stalls than you get at most farmers markets.

I live locally to Arundel and was in town for the recent market and would happily support the market more but at £3.50 for a loaf of bread, I had to think twice and didn't buy.

Held the third Saturday of every month, this was a really pleasant and enjoyable activity on our recent weekend visit to historic Arundel.
Lots of local sellers offering a wide range of plants, food, beverages and crafts, highly recommended and well organised.

We look forward to this market every month and have been going for many years. Find excellent pork, lamb, and beef on sale and in the season very fresh veggies. Also proper fresh eggs, with lovely yokes and flavour. Breads a bit expensive from the bakers but a good selection.
