About
Flight Simulators Midlands are delighted to offer you a thrilling experience on board a real B737-800 (motion) simulator or a Boeing 747-400 Jumbo Jet simulator with simulated motion or an Airbus A320 (motion) real aircraft cockpit, converted into a simulator. All are fitted with the latest Glass Cockpit Instrumentation (PFD/ND or EFIS)and the latest graphics available. Fly the mountains around Salzburg or the waterways of Hong Kong. These simulators have trained thousands of professional pilots over the years. (They are not replica simulators like many on offer). Now it's your turn to sit where they did and learn the tricks of the trade. We highly recommend a full hours flight time (90 minute experience) to get the best from your visit. Welcome on board. Captain Chris Rigby (Chief Pilot FSM)

Having purchased a Boeing 747 Flight Experience voucher for my husband’s birthday in 2019, we finally managed to book this after delays due to Covid. We had a great time, in fact my husband will say it’s one of the best things he’s ever done. Paul was our instructor, and he couldn’t have been better. We have booked two more flights, and can’t wait to bring our eldest son back to have a go too. Thank you to all at FSM. See you soon.

Absolutely fantastic flight simulator experience! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to return. The staff were all very helpful and knowledgable, especially Josh who was the instructor on the day. I’d highly recommend this experience for any adults or children who have a passion for flying!! Thanks again! ✈️ See you again soon.

Have had a thrilling morning flying the A320 and the 747 Jumbo. The simulators are so realistic, that you do think that you are flying the real thing and are in the air.
Hats off to Josh, my instructor for the day, as he was so reassuring and calming during the flights - even when I had to do a fly around to try and land at Kai Tak, Hong Kong which I did on the second attempt.
So good that I've already booked again

We opted for the 737 as all three of us had at one time flown in one. I was amazed when I first settled down in the First Officers seat and looked through the windshield as it really really did look like a runway threshold. This a proper professional simulator that has hydraulic motion to complete the experience. We had the choise of the worlds airfields to take off and land from although we all stayed within Europe. Theres no pretending it wasnt easy to start with but we split our time allocation in two and by the second flight we had all improved considerably. Our instructor was Josh, who is a current airline pilot, his enthusiasm and experience really made our day and he was eager to accomodate any requests. We went for the 90 minute experience of which 30 minutes is briefing, then 60 minutes in the simulator I would say this is the mininum time needed to get comfortable. As I have said we split the flying time in two which means no one is sitting around just watching for very long. We have booked to visit again and will be splitting the time in the same way but will be flying the A320 on the next visit as long as we can have the same instructor. A great few hours fun.

We visited Flight Simulators Midlands at the beginning of August 2023. My 15 year old Daughter is keen on becoming a commercial pilot and this experience is one of the things we had planned for the holiday. We arrived and were greeted and made to feel very welcome. We sat through the preflight briefing together and the information provided was very detailed and yet easy to understand. When it came time to fly we went through to the simulator and as a keen aviation enthusiast it was remarkable how realistic the flight experience was. As a passenger I could look out of the side windows and see landscape.
The pilot taking the lesson was very well spoken and pitched everything at the correct level for my Daughter who managed to fly and land the aircraft three times during our experience. She was very much at the controls under his guidance. He explained everything to her in a manner she understood and this made for a really good experience.
After the session was completed we had a good amount of time to sit and speak to the Pilot about my Daughters desire to have a career in commercial aviation and he really did give her some good advice.
This was an amazing experience that we both enjoyed, we got everything we wanted from this experience and more. My Daughter has come out of this with so much more experience and knowledge about flying and even some advice on how to work to aspire to the career she so dearly wants.

Many thanks - Good to hear. We do offer a specific assessment session where the aspiring pilot is judged by an experienced captain as to their suitability. They are given a full brief and debrief on areas they may need to develop. Do come and try that with her next time - Regards -Captain Chris

There was a little problem with the booking, but this was soon resolved, without fuss.
The whole experience of two people flying separate simulator fighter aeroplanes (being able to see and shot each other) is out of this world. The simulation is incredibly realistic, I could even see the smoke coming from a passing train!
Andrew and Toby were fantastic, who both made a complete novice feel like I might actually be able to fly a fighter plane.
This experience is perfect in every way with no downsides at all. Great value for money, great 1-2-1 service, amazing equipment, and fantastic experience.
If you are unsure, definitely go for it, you will not be disappointed.

What an amazing experience on the 737! Captain Kirk was very informative, humble and made the experience very enjoyable. Being very interested in aviation and the experience I received at flight simulators Midlands I’ve booked to return and do the a320 experience. Can’t wait to return next year.

The experience started with a 30 min briefing video explaining the theory of flight and how the Airbus A320 aircraft cockpit is set out. The motion simulator is a real A320 cockpit mounted on a moving platform.
We then met our instructor, who explained what would be happening during the next hour in the simulator. The cool thing was that although I was the one flying, for a nominal fee a spectator can come too. At least they get to feel part of the experiance instead of having to sit in a waiting room bored, while I had all the fun!
With some brilliant instruction I was able to fly the A320 around New York, and return to land at JFK, before moving to LaGuardia airport to try the three scenarios that Capt Sully was faced with when he landed on the Hudson. The instructor talked through each situation and explained why events happened the way they did in the real situation. Then we took off and tried each scenario in turn, try for Teterboro, return to LaGuardia, or head for the river, although we didn't get wet!
Me and my wife were made to feel really welcome, the atmosphere was really friendly and relaxing, for a novice like myself, nothing was too much trouble to explain, which made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. So much so that we have booked to go back and try another aircraft next time.

This was a brilliant experience with Josh in the A320 (13 Apr). My sons had bought it to celebrate my becoming an OAP! As a life long plane geek, this was a real bucket list thing to do. Right from arrival at FSM we were made very welcome and the initial briefing was great. The actual time in the simulator flew (sorry) past and we managed to squeeze in two flights. The motion and feel of the simulator felt really authentic and the quality of the graphics was outstanding. Josh's guidance was spot on, enough to stop us crashing but with enough headroom to let me learn too. Can't recommend this enough. Thanks Guys.

I had the opportunity to fly the Boeing 747 simulator today. My instructor was Captain Richard Drake. After the pre briefing we headed to the simulator which is very impressive fully representing a 747-400.
The flight was all set-up and it wasn’t long before I was being instructed on how to take off. With the takeoff accomplished we flew using the autopilot controls which was very informative. We lined up to land and I managed land it on the runway. A bit harder than I thought but definitely achievable. The lag from control input to aircraft response I found to be the most challenging aspect of the flight. This is how the real aircraft is apparently due to its weight.
The instructor was brilliant, very calming and very informative. I throughly enjoyed the session and will be visiting again when the opportunity arises.

Yes, the 747 is a big beastie and it takes a while for 300 tons of metal to change direction. Bit like steering the Titanic really. Rick's a great instructor so you were in good hands. Look forward to seeing you again - Captain Chris

hi Captain Chris,
I'm a (lapsed) PPL and I was just wondering if it is possible to spend the time doing simulated touch and goes at Coventry (or wherever..., Gatwick..?) rather than La Guardia to Orlando. (737 simulator).
thanks

Does the 737 or airbus simulator actually move? Does it actually feel like your taking off etc
CaptChrisRigby

The 737 and A320 move in pitch which is all that an aircraft does. The 747 is static but the visual screen is very large and fools the brain into thinking it is moving. Most people can't believe they weren't moving when they come out. - Captain Chris

CaptChrisRigby

Hi Paul. 13 is fine if he has already had some experience on a flight simulator programme on his computer. Ideally he needs to be 5 foot tall to reach the pedals but it's not essential as you only use them on take off. Any other questions, please ring us on 0800 999 7370

Looking to make a booking for my 50th Birthday. Can't decide on Full Motion 737 or static 747! Can anyone please advise on their experience if flown both. Cheers
Chris R
Royal Leamington Spa, England, United Kingdom14 contributions
Hi there. The motion on the 737 and A320 is excellent but the graphics on the 747 are more impressive as it uses a wrap around cinema screen which is better for observers in the flight deck. Coupled with the vibration generator, you will really think you are flying. Tough choice but then you could always come back and fly all 3. You kind of get hooked! -- Captain Chris \rigby
Has anyone with a fear of flying conquered it by flying the simulator?

Probably not. You really need the course that we run which has a short simulator trip at the end. - Chris

I had a one hour Boeing 737 as one of my Christmas presents. My co-pilot David was first class at instructing me during my flight. We flew from Malaga to Gibraltar and this was as close to the real thing as you will get!

Hi There, I've flown a full motion A320 simulator (1 hour) at the CAE flight training centre in Gatwick. Although this was some time ago, I'm looking to expand on what I learnt. I then went on to fly a PA-28 for real some weeks later (a very different experience altogether). Could you tell me a little more about your simulators please? i.e. full motion? real cockpits and controls?
Thanks in advance.
CaptChrisRigby
Leamington Spa, UK28 contributions
Morning. Our 320 simulator is the actual nose of G-BUSF back engineered into a simulator. The motion system is in pitch which is the only movement you would normally feel in an aircraft. I think if you read the reviews we have on TA, you will see everyone has had a fantastic experience with us and we do train professional pilots to be ready for interview assessments on this machine. We have a current BA training captain who flies for us occasionally and he is very impressed with it. We are also less than half the price from other motion simulators in the UK. So - look forward to seeing you - Captain Chris Rigby
