About
If you're looking for a truly unique day out for all the family, you can't beat Coventry Transport Museum. Wonderful experience!
FANTASTIC experience, contents plus historical context. Coventry and nearby Birmingham formed the industrial beating heart of the UK as we slid into WW2. The vehicle building industry was converted into military production and thus the area was targeted by the enemy air raids. Coventry suffered very badly indeed. The Cathedral was badly damaged but survived, many people and factories did not. This wonderful museum does a great job of putting this all into context and should not me missed.

    Great Exhibition
The Whole Experience , or Nearly all , is Wonderful . Staff are great , and the range of British machinery is very well Exhibited . Till you get to the 3 , yes all 3 , of the Fastest Cars in the World !! Stranded in a dinghy room at the end of the Tour . I remember a Fabulous Hanger and 2 of the Early cars , mid exhibit , beautifully shown . These Cars are your Main Attractions , you now have All 3 , so Please make the most of your windfall ? Do visit , it's Fantastic ! , Dont worry about the rather bland exterior ! We thought Better than Gaydon, which we feel is a little clinical .

    Snapshot through times
This is a superb view of transportation through the years. The whole museum is well laid out and if spread over a large area. So much to see; will have to go back to see what we missed. There is a refreshment area but it is limited.

    Truly impressive collection.
Truly impressive museum. If you have the slightest interest in cars and transport in general you’ll love this museum. It is hugely deceptive and Tardis like. The exhibition just goes on and on. I think we were probably there for around three hours. There are cars from every period along with bicycles and motor bikes & trucks etc. There are also land speed record breaking cars. Well worth a visit right in the centre of Coventry a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral.

    First Class.
We had a fantastic time. The museum kindly arranged disabled parking and a handy entrance. All the staff we met were kind and helpful. The exhibits are all well laid out and give a great snapshot of British (Coventry) motoring history!

    Coventry motor museum.
Spent a good few hours wandering around this really good motor museum, it had lots to see in all the different halls from the smallest cars to the fastest, all worth seeing. Cost was reasonable with the option to keep the ticket once paid and return within the next twelve months for free. At the end was the usual gift shop and cafe, would I go again ... yes if I was in the area, you will always see something you missed the first time.

    A Thrust to remember
We took 2 boys on Oct 19th (age 11 and 7) and they really enjoyed the museum exhibits but the best was the thrust sc simulation. The staff went out of their way to make it a trip to remember. A friend of our boys was nervous about going into the simulation so the staff showed what would happen to put the boy at ease. Our boys, friends and some adults experienced Thrust twice - one saying it was the best thing he had ever experienced. To round it off we were given two posters for our boys as were the other family. Five star treatment.

A wonderful trip down memory lane
What a wonderful museum and your ticket allows you to visit as many times as you like for 12 months which makes this exceptional value. It is truly amazing the exhibits set out beautifully with information boards providing details that brings everything to life. A nostalgic experience down memory lane for older people but a great insight into the motoring pedigree of Coventry through the decades. It provides an immersive as well as educational experience the staff are great and the shop and cafe are well worth a visit. A must visit attraction.

    Visit to Santa
Wonderful visit to Santa. Very friendly staff. A good selection of festive items to take some photos before. The vintage sleigh ride was so nostalgic. Santa was very friendly and judged our slightly nervous child just right. It was also nicely spaced out. We didn't feel crowded or rushed. The book linking to the sleigh ride was a lovely touch and a nice surprise when we read it later. Well done

Shocked to find that this once free and splendid museum now has an admission charge of £14 (albeit this is an 'annual pass'). I have known the place from its formative days and both benefitted from and contributed to it.I appreciate where the 'necessity' for this has come from, but I think that to go from free to such a high charge at a stroke is too much. It is also - quite frankly - insulting to all those who gave their time so freely to set the museum up. It was my reason to go to Coventry, but not any more. It looked empty too, and the shop had a massive sale on, plus a sign saying 'Shop free to enter'! Shameful.

I used to enjoy an occasional visit to the transport museum but refuse to pay an extortionate entry fee, when it used to be free!

Entry is now only free for holders of the Go Cv card but not everyone with a CV postcode is eligible to get one. I can run my business within Coventry city centre and pay quite substantial business rates to coventry city council. But because I live just outside the boundary and pay my council tax to a different council I have to pay £14 each to get in!

While this ridiculously expensive charge for entry remains, I will not set foot in this museum again!

Disgraceful !! The Santa experience was ok and the volunteers on this nice.

The main museum is clearly used to no visitors. This is a tax payer funded museum the lack of motivation and laziness of the staff was just so depressing especially off 2021 event.

We entered the museum at 4 and the lady on duty literally hounded us, no coffee cups, no child touching, then as we entered told it shuts 5!

By 4 25 we had three women following us telling us the lights would go out as we went and bullied my mother who only went to visit the 60s jaguars to leave. She's disabled and needed the lift. She then asked to get the lift up and it didn't work. The staff had shut up shop by 4.50pm. by 4.55 we were on the street.

This isn't right and is better than Coventry deserves and I will try my best to fix it. We pay for this service and it's not on they shut up shop early.

A very good value visit, (@£14 I was dubious) I was in the exhibitions for about three hours and enjoyed every minute. A great collection and well choreographed. Laid out in halls which guide you through the history of transport manufacture in Coventry from bicycle to autonomous vehicle, with an additional exhibition housing the fastest cars in the planet. Most of the information points are provided in a clear and legible format (by museum standards) which makes it easier for people with less than perfect vision. A definite must visit.

I have been before a few years ago and I have to say a lot has been invested in creating a unique museum filled to the brim with a wide range of British cars. The highlight for me was the superb 1930s collection of motor cars, the land speed record area and the Jaguar section is worth the ticket price alone. A few people are complaining about the price, but I have to say it's not justified because the effort gone into the museum is clear to see. The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the start to the finish, especially when I requested a few purchases from the shop. Speaking of the gift shop, sadly it has seen better days with very limited stock. Coventry should be very proud of this museum.

We used to visit on an afternoon and really enjoyed looking around but unfortunately the new entry charge is ridiculous.
Something that used to be free is now £35 for us to visit. I understand a small entry fee but £14 for an adult, daylight robbery!!!
I would be interested to see visitor numbers since introducing the new prices.
Our last date of visit was prior to new charges.

There is no doubt the museum has a really extensive collection and it is presented in an aesthetically pleasing way. The downside is that I don’t feel our visit represented value for money. There wasn’t anything interactive for little ones to do, and any sort of display or button that could be pressed didn’t seem to be working. So it then means you’re just walking round looking at things which can become tedious for the little ones. I think £14 is expensive for an adult admission. There are some impressive displays and vehicles there, however it’s the value for money that I can’t quite justify, when very little of what is interactive, or should be, isn’t working.

We went for the Heritage Open Day and I’m so glad we didn’t pay! I’m sure the museum would be great to look around on our own but with a toddler in tow I was really conscious of the lack of things for him to do. It wasn’t until we got quite far into the museum that there was some brio and a Thomas train to ride (at an extra cost). Not really worth the trip out. All the way around he was trying to touch multiple displays with “do not touch” signage and getting disapproving glares from members of staff when he tried to go through the wrong doors! It just isn’t toddler friendly at all - such a shame because he loves cars and buses but couldn’t get into anything except a black cab quite far in. Before we went we looked at the website about whether there would be somewhere to eat sandwiches and then found a really depressing area which no one was using. Just not family friendly I’m afraid.

This is my second visit this year. And after visiting in the summer with my dad we had decided to come again this last Sunday.

I was shocked that the museum was not repaired yet. The interactive features around the museum still don't work.
I was lost for words because of the building itself, so frigid!
This is a big museum and without skipping large parts it can take quite a while to get through. It takes my dad even longer.

By the time we were at the end he was in a worse state than when we arrived. Suffering from the cold.
At 14£ For me and another 10 for my dad I can't make sense of this.

Be warned, there is no heating in the building, bring your winter coat!!

This museum is well named as it's literally a museum of transport built and used in and around Coventry. This includes Bicycles, Motorbikes, cars and commercial vehicles. This means it revolves around British Built vehicles and even More specifically those built in the midlands so if you visit hoping for Ferraris and Bugattis you will be disapointed. However if you visit hoping for a museum illustrating the history of transport in the midlands you'll find your wishes are granted!

It's very well laid out and starts with a history of transport production in the midlands before changing to themed halls showing commercial vehicles, wartime, Motorsport, to name just a few. It's full of information. I didn't see many staff on my visit but I didn't feel I needed any, I could easily find my way around and everything was clearly sign posted. I'm a transport enthusiast but even someone with just a vague interest would be entertained and informed. Recommended.

A final tip: As it is city centre based, it doesn't have it's own car park so if you visit by car you'll have to park in a local paid car park. There are lots in the area but make sure if it's a pay in advance ticket, that you give yourself plenty of time to see everything. There's lots of other things to see in Coventry too.
