Having booked over the phone specifying I wanted to pay by card or get a taxi with a card machine, i was informed on its arrival that its ÂŁ10 minimum. The journey was ~ÂŁ6. Ridiculous

All my taxis so far have been on time and at the right place. I even booked one taxi via the app put asap they were there in 2min on a Saturday night! All offered to help me in and out the car. My only criticism is if you pay by card in advance you can’t cancel the journey once you booked it

extra got charged extra ÂŁ30 not the best service quite expensive for what the taxi service has to offer unfortunately I will not be able to recommend as the price was just way too much for the little journey we had overall three stars out of five

Pre-booked a cab 24 hours in advance, to take me to the airport, in time for a flight. Taxi was booked for 8.30pm at exactly 8.30pm TOA rang to inform me that they didn’t have a driver available and that it could be up to 45 minutes before they could get a cab to fulfil the booking that they had taken 24 hours previously. Fortunately I only live 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, but in order to ensure that I checked in on time for my flight, I then had to drive myself to the airport, and park in the car park at the airport. The parking cost me £155.00
To add insult to injury, when I arrived at the airport, there was literally dozens and dozens of black cabs sat waiting on the rank, but not one of them could be bothered to honour a pre-booking made 24 hours in advance.
T.O.A. Taxi’s are a complete and utter disgrace , they don’t deserve the privileged position that they hold in the Taxi trade. Nothing short of scandalous. I will certainly never spend my hard earned cash with them ever again. Zero rating

Booked about 2 weeks in advance to take a wheelchair passenger out for a special occasion. Passenger has to be transported in a wheelchair. Two previous bookings had worked well and drivers been great.
On this occasion I called to confirm booking in morning and was told they will arrive “as close to to the booking time as possible” I wasn’t too concerned as I presumed may be a few mins early or late.
I called after about 5mins of it not turning up to enquire estimated arrival time as we had a restaurant booking. Was told there were no taxis in the area and they would call me back in 5-10mins to see what they could do!
They did call back and told me it would be about 20min. All in all 40min later than booked. They make no apology…apparently they can’t guarantee a time, just “as close to the booked time as possible” this is their standard phrase and appears to them to be a perfectly reasonable way of running a business…needless to say we won’t be booking with them again unless the time we need it for is not important. Suffice to say I hastily cancelled a taxi I had booked to take us to the airport!!

An absolutely disgraceful service with a couldn't care less attitude!
I booked two days in advance for a wheelchair accessible taxi and a return trip with set times
the outward trip arrived on time, the return trip just didn't turn up! despite several calls to a disinterested operator at TOA. she said times were approximate and i would have been told that upon booking, absolute lies!
one and a half hours later my brother and i were still waiting in the cold on his 60th birthday, another phone call only to be told there was no one available, unbelievable apathetic attitude in the end she put the phone down on me mid conversation!
Avoid this absolutely shambolic company at all costs, i will never use or recommend them ever again.

Don't use this company if you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Use Worcester TOA they are far better and despite coming from Worcester to Birmingham they are actually cheaper.
Birmingham TOA taxi drivers may strain themselves if they have to get out of the cab to pull the ramp down to let a wheelchair on.
Disability discrimination at its finest. We know DD is illegal but they do it quietly. The controller puts a call out for a wheelchair user to be picked up and the drivers just ignore it because they don't want to pick a wheelchair up. They may strain themselves pulling out the ramp. They also charge extortionate fares. They charge you from where they are when they come to pick you up and it seems the taxi will always be miles and miles away. Discrimination at its finest. Extortion at its finest. You don't get what you pay for at all. I would give them minus stars if I could.

TOA Taxis provide an excellent service. We always book with them when we're catching a train or flight from Birmingham International - a situation when you need to be on time. They always arrive a bit early so we're not worrying about whether the taxi will turn up, and the driver is then happy to wait for the time booked. We have never had a booked taxi not turn up. The drivers are always polite and helpful.

If I could give zero I would. I booked a taxi to pick us up, I gave an hour and a half notice and still no car turned up and I wasn’t notified that they couldn’t got a driver. They just didn’t want to pick us up because they didn’t like the location! They’d rather leave me and my young child freezing in the cold sleeting rain ( -1 degrees)

We use TOA regularly as my mother is wheelchaired and I can honestly say our experience of using them is very different to a number of other customer reviews. Yesterday we had to go to a funeral so a week ago I emailed the chairman who couldn’t have been more helpful for his advice on travelling to and from the crematorium to the wake. We agreed a price and they turned up on time. We have had the driver previously so he knew us and he was so helpful with mom. He took us to the crem, waited for us then took us to the wake. We have never had a problem with TOA and the drivers have always been helpful. None of them have ever complained about the wheelchair or having to put the ramp down etc. I always prebook at least the day before and always confirm it is a manual standard wheelchair. We have only had one occasion when they were late picking us up but they did apologise at the time. We will certainly carry on using TOA and I know a couple of my mothers friends who also use wheelchairs will continue to use them.

I think it depends on the drive, it's worth just asking when you book i, but they should be able too sort you out of you do
