Worst physio in Birmingham
Jun 2019 • Business
Probably the worst place we’ve ever experienced unfortunately. It started when I called to book an appointment for my Mum and the receptionist was extremely rude for no reason, I’d never spoken to her before, she left me on hold (with no actual hold button) for 5 mins after answering the phone whilst finishing off with a patient, when she came back she was so rude so I asked to speak to the owner, a guy called Davinder, who did call me back a couple of hours later and apologised and my mum was booked in for the following week. The 1st treatment went very well where he seemed to have diagnosed Mums issues correctly & he put together a treatment plan for the next few weeks, everything seemed really good, we were happy. A few weeks in we realised how busy they can get as Davinder sees 25 patients per day & there was one time I think it was the third time we went to him & he was treating 2 patients at the same time. I was quite surprised at this as he had my Mum in 1 room and a 2nd patient in another room and was going between the two rooms every few mins & my Mums session was very short & he simply said that was all that was required for today. That’s when alarm bells started to ring & he was rather passive aggressive. We were booking some appointments in as we have to book a few weeks in advance & all of a sudden he didn’t have the midday slot that we had had the last few times & he didn’t really seem to want to do much about it. We were put on a cancellation list for the next appointment as he had booked a very early time which we told him my Mum could not attend. Anyway a few days later when I called the receptionist to see if anything had become available she was so rude and hung up the phone. I complained to Davinder via email who simply replied back that he’s got a huge waiting list of people & they take what they’re given & it’s a 1st he’s ever worked around a patient. I didn’t think he was working around us as we were going at midday anyway (not some extreme time like late at night) he didn’t really seem to want to do much about it. We were put on a cancellation list for the next appointment as he had booked a very early time which we told him my Mum couldn’t attend. Anyway few days later when I called the receptionist to see if anything had become available she was so rude and once again hung up the phone. I complained to Davinder via email he simply replied back that he’s got a huge waiting list and people take what they given and the appointments that he’s been doing from my mum the last few times have been 45 minutes and apparently they’re normally 30 minutes and he only treats 1 area of the body with my Mum & he’s been treating 3 areas with my Mum. All 3 areas I thought were connected to the problem, (as it’s never usually 1 areas when requiring physio even generally) & none of this was mentioned to us at any point, not at consultation & it’s not on his website either. He also said he doesn’t work around his clients times people work around him. He didn’t even acknowledge how rude his staff, completely ignored my email. So, I would expect his staff to be just as rude as him actually. This guy starts off really good but then his passive aggressive and patronising tone comes out if you do not take the appointments that he offers you, his staff are bullies just like him. It’s hard for people who go there we realised as if you don’t do what he wants, with appointment times etc he won’t help you. There are plenty more people in his profession in Birmingham and surrounding areas that do a great job and don’t treat their patients like Davinder and his staff do from Optispine, they actually treat their patients like humans who need help unlike Optispine. We will never be going back to this place, just awful and make you feel real bad which is an awful feeling when you need help hence why people go to him in the 1st place and it seems that Davinder has forgotten what he’s here to do with people, instead his arrogance & controlling behaviour has taken over.

Xuejun Yu - Highly Rate Tuina/Musculoskeletal Therapist
Oct 2014 • Solo
When it comes to recent acute injuries or long standing pain and disability, Xuejun Yu is able to deliver genuine reduction in pain and improvement in body function.

Xuejun Yu has been my musculoskeletal therapist for over four months and employs a Chinese massage technique called Tuina. Initially sceptical, I have noticed an appreciable reduction in long standing knee, lower back and neck pain. Even better, I have found better all round flexibility. I didn’t even realise how much tension I carried in my neck until was able to rotate my neck really well after my initial Tuina session!

This review has been prompted by treatment today for a sprained ankle, done approximately two weeks ago and not settling after massage (by me) and application of heat over this time. I would estimate a 65% improvement after treatment and I can now firmly put my foot down. That’s commendable skill and training!

Tuina here isn’t akin to a pampering spa day or an hour of rubbing oil. This is about problem finding, healing and maintaining good health. This can be a strong finger touch massage, that is at times tender and Xuejun Yu does accommodate to ensure this isn’t painful. I have never felt that Xuejun Yu did not try her best or I would have been better of elsewhere.

Over the years I have tried many mainstream and complementary therapies for sports related injuries and chronic pain. Xuejun Yu is one of only two therapists I would recommend and am keen not to lose. I have even recommended her to close elderly family who have also benefitted.

I hope this review has been useful and helps you to choose a therapist suitable for your needs and wish you good health.
