The Yardbird was one of our favourite hang outs. It hosted live music every night and it was nearly always free entry. The music was usually jazz influenced, but not actual jazz very often.

It was a really cool venue with a really chilled out vibe and a nice mix of people. It didn't look particularly smart and the beer on tap was pretty terrible but it was good anyway. It occupied a great position almost under the awesome brutalist Central Library.

The short sighted Birmingham Council is hell bent on demolishing the Central Library and surrounding buildings. This is why the Yardbird is now closed. The Yardbird's building was compulsory purchased and will be demolished as part of the 'Paradise' redevelopment.

The good news is the Yardbird is hopefully due to return somewhere in the city. The new location is not yet know, so keep a look out.

Live music and a great crowd give this place a late night buzz to be enjoyed. There's alcohol and loud music so if that's not your thing don't go. All gigs are free and it's open Sunday to Wednesday midday to midnight and Thursday to Saturday midday to 2A.M. see there website for more details.

Went here one night for a late session after a gig at the O2 and had a belting night. Got talking to loads of randoms, music was brilliant, everyone pretty steaming but extremely friendly on the whole. Chaotic but really good fun. A real gem in Brum.

Me and my friends used to go there when we lived in birmingham for a year. The best feature of the club was the music, jazzy and funk. Great beers to enjoy also. Very easy going and nice ambient to talk and dance.

Been here a couple of times with work mates, always had a good time, excellent new bands, great jazz, and good drinks. Warning, no credit cards which is a shame, but definitely a great few hours after dinner spent there. Its like wallop wallop wallop

We were sat outside weatherspoons and got chilly so went in here on a wim, little did we know we'd find such a nice place with a great atmosphere.

Bar star were lovely and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Would have stayed here longer if we didn't have to be elsewhere.

We visited on 3rd November and 1st December and spent the evenings listening to the talented young musicians of the Dunnett-Baxter Big Band and soaking up the atmosphere of a dark, friendly (and free) city venue. Let's hope that the Yardbird will be able to re-locateto some adjacent spot.
