One of my favourite area's of Birmingham is the Jewellery Quarter and one of my favourite pubs to visit is The Brown Lion Pub, so when my twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town we made a beeline to here to find it unfortunately closed, we both hope its a temporary closure as this pub is so inviting, a very nice interior, serves great beers poured by lovely staff ,had some great times in here so let's hope its open on our next visit to this most cosmopolitan of city's.

popped in for a pint as I was passing, staff friendly and polite, read the paper and then left. Simple and does the job and would go in again if near about the area

Really friendly, clean, great entertainment

Popped into this place last Friday. Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere, with live music. The last band were great -- Two Bob Ted I think they were called. It was lively, but friendly, and felt like a real local. Would certainly go back.

Arguably, one of the best pubs in the Quarter.

Really pleased with our visit to the Brown Lion despite the pub rather quiet. The landlady is one of the friendliest and happiest bartender that I've met in a long while.
The Guinness was spot on and the cocktail samosas were very good.
Will go back.

A marked improvement

I visited Brown Lion with friends at the end of 2016 run under Mr Elliott. It was good but had lost it’s soul.

New cushions and a lick of paint couldn’t paint over an owner so out of touch with his local clientele. Self-indulgent music nights and expensive settings didn’t associate itself with the local community. A woeful lack of business acumen didn’t address what was needed in this area and ultimately led to his and his companies downfall.

Can report we’re back on track! Place is booming and understands its roots.

Good luck brown lion!

This pub has had new owners for about 6 months now and is starting to get itself established as a great Music venue.
Every other Monday (see website) there is Khaliq's legendary Jam night (next one 20 March 2017).
There is also a great selection of local musicians playing most Friday's and Saturday's.
It is also a great location to watch the 6 nations!
It has a great relaxed ambience for a beer after work or a more serious session can be had from the real ales and selection of lagers on offer.
It also has a great varied wine choice together with spirits for all wallets!
Thoroughly recommend giving it a try. Not too many of you all at once as its my local boozer!! LOL!

Good choice of after work beers, not much of an atmosphere
Oct 2016 • Friends
Working nearby, we saw this new pub had recently opened, so we went for a few after work beers on a Friday night. It's been refurbished to a good standard and looks cool, but there was hardly anyone in there. It's still early days so perhaps people are yet to hear about it. This being said, the beer and service was good!

I recently went for a drink with a friend and I am delighted with the experience. The staff is really nice and they take good care of you.

The pub reopened a few months ago and the decoration is ace. 100% recommendable.

Came here for drinks plus lunch time meal. lovely frendly welcoming staff it's worth coming into this lovely environment with lounge with board games and table foot ball for the family, plus bar area for watching the big game or enjoying the live music during the week.

Every Tuesday is live music nights including open music nights where you are welcome to just step up and bring an instrument to join in with the others. Once a month on a Thursday Jason Pegg does Open Mic nights.

This is the place to come in the evenings for music nights check it out and for that cozy lunch/evening meals at a cheap prices with lovely staff with a shelter garden at the back.

Would recommend coming here.
