This is such a great cinema, with excellent sound and friendly staff. We say Rogue One at the 10:30am showing, which is another thing I really like about this cinema - morning film showings. Finally, if you book a sofa you can order waiter drinks service via text! Great if you're having a bit of a celebration.

The plush seating, waiter service, sofas and quirky local food and beer make this memorable. Yes there is a damp smell, but as the UK s oldest cinema, that's acceptable. The toilets are old too, so go before you come here is my advice. The staff care a lot and try to make you enjoy this, and you feel part... More

Do remember that this is the oldest working picture house in the UK. It's not massive, but it's clean, comfortable and has good quality picture. And they serve very good snacks too! We caught an anime here, and because we have been travelling for a bit our rail cards entitled us for a 2FOR1 offer so the movie came up... More

Came here to see Elf. Queues were very large to get in, drinks expensive and seats crammed together. Took ages to pick up pre booked seats I don't think the staff are trained properly. Not impressed by the service sorry.

Many many years ago, my wife & I said we'd only ever come here if they showed a Cary Grant film, or at least something appropriate for the perceived ambience of this cinema. 'It's A Wonderful Life' popped up for booking back in November and we duly booked into the sofa 'Laurel', as he's our favourite of the legendary comedy... More

This is the most wonderful cinema. The screen is not huge. It may well not have the most up to date sound system. It is certainly not 3D. But it is simply wonderful. There are standard seats. Which are fine. But you really must try the sofas. Squashy, homely, comfy sofas where you can spread out or snuggle up. There's... More

I went here with family for the Christmas Eve showing of Elf. Arrived with olenty of time, to find a lot of people in the very small lobby area. Ordered drinks and snacks, very reasonable. one thing you're missing.....NO POPCORN!!!! You can't go to the cinema without popcorn. As we walked into the screen, we noticed seats were divided into... Went to see Its a wonderful life, interesting small cinema with Art Deco features. Small and cosy. We had leather chairs at front which was cosy and comfortable, feels very intimate and not sure I would have like sitting in the other seats. We could hear the booming from the movie downstairs which was a bit annoying. Would have given... More

If you want to make a cinema visit special again, fed up of the character less multi-plex cinemas then give this place a visit! With 2 small screens it's not massive, so I would recommend pre-booking. Also grab a bottle of wine, beer or cocktail and take you place in a classic red velour seat and enjoy the experience and... I love this place- we're so lucky to have it in Birmingham. Fabulous events, my favourite is trash film night. Also they do great late night screenings often with themed cocktails. Book a sofa. You get text waiter service so no need to queue at the bar!
