Canalside is a wonderful area of Birmingham to explore, on our five day stay in this cosmopolitan city we visited the canal area two or three times ,had a great time, the canals are superb as our the buildings along the canal especially the Brindley Place area , we went to some great pubs and bars here ,my twin brother Stephen and I visited The Brasshouse Pub, The Pitcher & Piano,The Alchemist, The Tap & Spile Pub ,The Canalside Inn,The Malt House Pub and quite a few more ,had a great time ,loved the pubs and bars, the architecture and the laid back vibe along the canal area ,if your planning a trip to Birmingham its an area I highly recommend you visit.

We had found a lovely little boat ride and our host was very knowledgable of the canal. It was very good value too as we our two pensioners it was £6 each for 1.30hrs

A must I Birmingham. Here you can walk for hours if you like . It is a living canal where many channel boats going to and from. Many pubs and eating places along .

Birmingham canal-side

Birmingham has 35 miles of canals, which is said to be more than Venice. They're enjoyed by walkers, cyclists, and narrowboat owners and they are a reminder of a unique industrial history.

Nice place to wander

Lovely area within the centre of Birmingham in which to wander around. Plenty to see on the canals and plenty of places to stop and have a snack/meal or coffee while watching the many crafts travel along the canal. Would appeal to all ages.

Fascinating walks

Walking the canals is a trip through urban history, from the better known sites of Gas Street Basin and Brindleyplace. If you walk away from the more central areas you will find dereliction and areas you wouldn't necessarily want to be in alone, particularly after dusk, but there are some interesting bits of history to find as well.

Unfriendly staff and dirty
Jun 2019 • Couples
We visited as a couple on 29/6/19 and it was our first visit. it was 9pm and I have walked past many times but never been in and on this occasion we thought we would try. There were to men serving, they were not particularly accommodating when I asked for my my first pint, the first 2 I mentioned were both off. Anyhow we ordered sat inside for a bit and then went outside. I must say, it was dirty, cobwebs everywhere and the toilets, I prefer not to say. Hygiene and cleaning is something this place does not seem to care about and this was places you can see within the pub. God knows what the area is like where they clean the glasses. Just a heads up
