About
Ackers Adventure is an outdoor activity centre located in Birmingham! All of the activities take part in over 75 acres of diverse landscape. The centre is located just 2 miles from the city centre and is easily accessible by car and public transport! Entry into the site is free but pre-booking with payment in full is essential for activities. Activities include: • a 100 metre long ski slope, with nursery slopes and a 25 metre toboggan slope • 3 climbing walls including a 20 metre high tower which also homes our zip wire and fan descender • a fully equipped, self-catering residential centre • a canal basin perfect for canoeing, kayaking and bellboating • also 2 archery ranges, team building field, bushcraft survival zone, jungle challenge obstacle course and much more!

A group of 13 of us spent a very enjoyable activity weekend at Ackers. The activities are very fun and the instructors made them even more so while remaining professional. We also made use of the residential centre about 15 mins away from the city centre by car which made it also great value for money. When we had issues , the staff were very polite and helpful at times of stress!

My son attended a holiday camp over October half term, he had an absolutely amazing and fantastic time at Ackers. This was his 3rd time there. The place is a hidden gem, they have so many activities for kids to try. The fact that it is all set outdoors improves kids' health and fitness. My son loved the freedom and space of being outdoors, he had a lot of fun trying out new things like skiing, Tubing, climbing, disk golf, canoeing and many more. Being outdoors allowed him to do a lot of running and chasing with other kids and let off steam. The holiday camp offered by Ackers is excellent and I would recommend it to all the kids as it definitely improves physical fitness, agility, stamina, balance and strength. The instructors are very knowledgable and fantastic with kids. My son's self-confidence and independence has improved throughattemding the camp. At the same time through trying out different activities in the safe and supervised environment he became aware of limits, challenges and boundaries. He not only had a chance to do activities but also
engaged with others, solved problems, explored the natural environment and made new friends. Thanks to Will, Ben and Dan for making the camp experience absolutely special for our child.

We booked Ackers for my sister's hen do and had the BEST weekend. We stayed in the ARC for 2 nights and enjoyed how much space we had, plus the amazing balcony space overlooking the canal. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and was perfect for catering for 15 people. Laura's communication was brilliant from the moment I first enquired and the instructors for our three different activities were brilliant. We couldn't believe what we got for the price of the package to be honest and would not hesitate to recommend future party groups to attend.

My daughter experiences ADHD, alongside other complex behaviours. It’s always a challenge to find inclusive settings for her to feel connected and secure.
Ackers is that place.
My daughter interacted so well with the children and staff members who in turn showed patients, a calmness and empathy as well as sharing positive lived experiences.
I absolutely recommend Ackers holiday camp to all parents with children like mine, they will have an amazing experience and learn new skills.
My daughter loved the Bushcraft activities.🔥

Me and my two kids aged 6 & 7 had great fun today as part of the Birmingham disability inclusion festival. The staff were able to tailor the session for individual needs but it was still a great opportunity to try something new, to have fun, and have a day out.
The canoeing was enjoyable, by the end of the 1.5 hours we were getting the hang of it, we are now considering getting one to practice with because it required teamwork which is really good for my kids. Also to have them not afraid of the water anymore is positive and we have learnt a lot about the sport.
The tubing was so fast and required no skill so my kids loved it, yet climbing the hill is harder then I thought. Kids were worn out but definitely 30 minutes was enough as we were alone on that part of the slopes it was constant climbing.
The skiing was probably my biggest learning experience, the 30 minutes was more then enough my legs were aching. I'm glad my kids started this young and we need to return and build on the skill.
The staff were enthusiastic, able to engage two easily distracted, overly excited kids and we learnt so much. We are planning on returning for a thrill seekers day to try other activities too. Really glad I finally came here to try these sports.

Second trip to Akers today for my children (8 & 10) for their first Ski Level 2 session.
Arrived reasonably early at 10am, extremely quiet and our children got a 1:1 session with instructor Dave!
Both my children really enjoyed it, came on so much in just an hour and Dave was a great instructor. Warm, friendly, engaging and a true gent.
The guy that signed us in (I’m real sorry I’ve forgotten his name) is also, always brilliant.
It’s genuinely not often I’m blown away by customer care and warmth but Ackers absolutely nail it.
Looking forward to our next session!

My son has been receiving ski instruction at Ackers Adventure for a couple of years and it has been fantastic. The team are super friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and inclusive. They welcome everyone and work extremely hard to ensure everyone had an enjoyable time while improving every week. My son definitely feels part of the Ackers community and I would highly recommend the centre.

We both started with Ackers as this seemed to be exactly what we wanted.
The staff welcomed us and after a chat then out on the slope to see what level/experience we had.
Training is based on your individual needs as the phrase ‘Less is more’ technique is used, a great way of both learning & bringing out the best in people.
Would recommend Ackers to anyone wanting to learn or gain more experience of skiing.

I took my 7 year old niece to group ski lessons. One instructor in particular, Mark, was amazing with her. She progressed quickly due to his guidance. Groups were always kept small unlike at the Snowdome and they prioritised safety.

I went with my 11 year old daughter and we had a lovely day. We were both beginners and by the end of the day my daughter was skiing down from the top. ( I improved a lot during the day but was not brave enough to go form the top!) It was something we never thought we would do as we are not planning a holiday away. It was a great new experience, professional instruction and lovely to spend quality time with my daughter. I would recommend it to anyone.

Jungle Challenge is a series of man-made obstacles designed to test your sense of balance, mental and physical strength, initiative, and team building skills. The full course is a challenging and exciting journey through the undergrowth, in-between trees, across suspension bridges, over hurdles, through tunnels, and over seesaws, with a few more surprises along the way!

Is it a good date for two people? Once you learn something eg. Canoeing are you given time to canoe independently or is someone with you at all times?

Hello, thank you for your enquiry. All of our lessons are with an instructor however once you are at a certain level in Skiing and Climbing, we offer a recreational rate which means you can come and ski or climb independently (subject to t&c's). In terms of Canoeing we run canoe tours on the Grand Union Canal and on the River Severn where you are guided by an instructor and only given tuition if required.
