We visited here today with our 4 year old and nearly 2 year old. You park up for free and then follow the footpath on the left to walk to the end of the runway. It’s about a 15-20 minute flat walk. When you get to the end of the runway, there’s benches and a lovely grass area. We took some camping chairs, a picnic blanket, a picnic and a ball and sat there for hours happily watching the planes fly right above you. We watched so many land and take off and tracking the flights on your phone is a good idea as you can give the children a rough idea of when the next one will be. It really is incredible seeing them so close. We watched an Emirates plane land and when we looked online, we saw that it was taking off in two hours time and we wanted to see it. We decided to walk back to the car park where there is a play area and a little farm, free of charge. Toilets and a tea room are there too. The farm was small but really lovely. We saw cows, a donkey, a pig, sheep, chickens, geese and a turkey. We then walked back to watch the Emirates plane take off and ended up seeing about 6 take off in the space of ten minutes!
We really did have a wonderful day and for free, it’s a little gem!
I read so many reviews saying the walk was long from the car park, it really wasn’t! There’a a short cut across some grass.
Definitely worth a visit! Happy plane spotting!

The walk to the aeroplanes is not a few minutes it’s a good half an hour walk 😡
When you were expecting a short walk it was annoying.
The park is only suitable for very young children.
The tea room is SO expensive and had no connection with a dairy.
We travelled a long way to get their and won’t be going back.

Come here quite a lot with my 2 year old daughter. It's one of our favourite places to come, a really cool free farm that you can walk around and see the animals. A 15/20 min walk to see the planes landing/taking off, and a playground. Massive carpark with loads of spaces. Yes it's a bit rough around the edges. But it's a great free day out

My first plane spotting trip this year. Chose a very hot day. Area was very tidy and everyone seated seemed to be socially distancing. One thing that did please me is the removal of the open top rubbish bins. Glad someone has realised the damage that can be done to aircraft engines if the rubbish blows onto the airport. Well done!
Cannot agree with previous review about litter everywhere. Certainly the airport/Marston Green end is very tidy.

Wanted to go somewhere where I could meet my daughter and granddaughters and still able to distance comfortably locally as it was a beautiful sunny day. This was just the place. Although the farm was closed the horses and sheep were in the field. Obviously cafe and toilets are closed and so were the children's playground. We walked to the airport, not far, and saw a plane take off and another land.
The dog loved it, just like being in the countryside. After the walk we got chairs and food out of the car and had a picnic in the adjacent field while maintaining social distancing of course.
Luckily none of us needed the toilet (except the dog) or I'd don't know what we'd have done.

Nice large park for walking the dog. But the main attraction for many is watching the planes land and takeoff at Birmingham airport. There's a great viewing area in the park that's located at the end of the runaway.
Watching the Airbus A380 fly over is immense. Such a huge plane.

A truly wonderful working inner city farm,
within easy reach of coventry road,
totally free for everyone and wheelchair accessible also!
The kids will love the animals which include, Jersey cows, sheep, pigs, goats chickens & ducks etc,
their is also a very reasonably priced cafe / tea room on site
A bonus includes.. the excellent view of aircraft at Birmingham airport.. if you take a 10 minute walk along the cycle track, you will come to the end of the runway!

Visited park with 5 year grandson and was shocked at the disgrace of this park... every bin was overflowing and on the floor rubbish (no idea when last emptied) as for the observation point to look at planes its a couple of nasty benches at the end of slip where only small planes take off. There is no signage in this park givening any directions. the farm is a small penned area of cows and a few pigs and chicken... As for being 96 acre farm!!! really someone need to get tape measure out... wasted journey and time... Birmingham City Council should be ashamed..

We visited this park on a summers afternoon for a nice walk and to see the animals. There were no animals on display anywhere as far as we could see. The park had several large gangs of hooded youths, one group of which was having fun kicking hell out of a gate by the car park. There was litter strewn everywhere, and it looked like no one had been litter picking for months.
One of the benches near to the wooded area had a young couple sat on it, consuming white lightning cider directly from the bottle.
In the areas free of litter, dog excrement adorned the grass which had also been shredded up with tyre marks, seemingly from an off road motorcycle or mini Moto.
We soon returned to the car. The car park had now become a football pitch for a large group of anti-social youths playing football very near to the parked cars, including mine.
The most enjoyable part of the park was the exit road.

I have walked along the many paths hundreds of times. The walk itself is lovely and being so close to where I live it is like stepping into the countryside.
However when it gets sunny many more people use the park with the Airport viewing area getting massively more use. There are about 5-6 rubbish bins there but they get so full that they overflow and people give in and start throwing their rubbish anywhere they like. There isn't much the park management can do about littering apart from emptying the bins more often on these busier periods. If they already do this then it isn't quite enough, it would seem they need to triple or even quadruple their bin emptying schedule. Today I walked past hundreds of dog waste bags, used nappies and watched disgustingly as a foam dinner plate blew past. Not to mention dog mess just left wherever but that is another issue.
Is this a resources issue? possible i guess apart from the fact that i have walked past a group of 2 and 3 park staff at different times during the last few weeks sitting on the bench enjoying the sun while litter spews from the bins.
Well, rant over but it's such a shame.
If you want to visit, bring your bin bag, at least then you wont be adding to the problem and pick up after your dog if you bring them

Hi, I would like to take my family for a visit at the Sheldon Country Park. I want us to have a day out to visit a farm. Hoe can I contact them?
Thanks
Gabriel
Where do people park their car when going plane spotting? The Marston Green station car park says you can only park there if you are a customer i.e going on the trains. What's the closest possible place to park in order to go into Sheldon Country Park and watch the planes?

Can you walk the perimeter of Bham Airport?
Poshgirl50
Birmingham, UK63 contributions
Sorry for delay in picking up your question.
No, not the total airport perimeter. If you enter Park from Marston Green Station end then path gets nearer to perimeter fence. Just past runway threshold, there's a path that goes nearer the fence, towards the STS Hangar. Don't know how far it goes. Probably not very far beyond as you then get to old terminal.
Is the little cafe open today

No gate and loads of exit points so you wouldn't get locked in, unless you park in the Rectory Farm car park
