what a joy it was to walk calmly around this well presented public park which i believe was once run by the late and famous Percy Thrower. The bowling green is well maintained and there is the most wonderful Mullbery tree in the middle of...More

I used to work in the nearby High Street so have been here many times. Lovely well maintained park with parking. Nice to walk around and relax. Makes you feel like you are miles from the City so recommended.

Simple park with wide open spaces and great variety of trees, flowers and human beings Nothing complicated - just an old fashioned park for kids, families, couples and people on their own. Home to the King's Heath Running Club

We visit this park quite a lot as it is local to us. Unfortunately just lately there have been quite a few yobs on pushbikes who think it's very clever to perform wheelies as they pass you on the path....not only once but several times....which...More

I go to Kings Heath park a lot to walk my dog. Some of its highlights are: It is incredibly pretty with very many gorgeous trees. A dog friendly cake and coffee shop (ice cream too.) A nursery selling plants all year round. An agricultural...More

day trip from Birmingham (8 Replies)
Hoping TA advisors will come to the rescue! Any suggestions for a day trip from South Birmingham (Kings Heath) for visitors from Australia, who want to see a bit of English countryside - trees, birds, meadows etc...with perhaps the opportunity for a nice easy (2-3 km) walk. Not Shropshire - we are spending the weekend in mid wales - and not Stratford upon Avon - they went there today. Maybe max 1.5 hours from Kings Heath - a shorter journey would be better still. All suggestions gratefully...More

Well the Clent Hills are only about 10 miles from Kings Heath. Or a bit further away are the Malvern Hills, about 35 miles. There is a car park at the Southern end of the hills which gives you a fairly easy walk to the top, with wonderful views over the area. There is also Kinver Edge, just north of Kidderminster, again easy walk and great views over the English country side. And I know you said no Shropsire but Carding Mill valley is a lovely place to go. These are all hills of...More

sunday roast (4 Replies)
Bit of a random question I know, but can anyone recommend somewhere for Sunday lunch in South Birmingham -pub grub is fine. I cant keep up with which pubs in Kings Heath/ Moseley do this -and I have heard mixed reports about a couple of them.. Want to take a couple of friends next weekend, and Nathaniels in Moseley, which I love,is going to be a bit over budget this time. Grateful for suggestions!

The owners of The Prince of Wales have worked wonders with the place (in my opinion). I believe that they still do food on a Sunday at lunchtime. You could give them a ring on 449 4198 just to make sure. The Elizabeth of York in Moseley does a Wetherspoons Sunday lunch but is a bit of a dire place unless you find seating upstairs. Cheap though.

Birmingham - Kings Heath (4 Replies)
Hi, I grew up in Birmingham and was living in Kings Heath upto leaving Brum in 1981. Lots of fond memories, went to Swanshurst Girls School and trained at Selly Oak Hospital. Not been back for years, I'm sure its all changed. Must get back for a visit sometime and visit all the old haunts !! -probably wouldn't recognise a lot of them now. Is the Horseshoe Pub still on the canal? - Great memories of that place !!!!!!!! Any comments appreciated.
