Chamberlain Square is currently a demolition site and the day we saw it there were 2 cranes 'eating' the jagged remains of the old library. This was quite fascinating! There are pictures on the hoardings around the square showing what it will look like in a year's time when the redevelopment is complete. It will be very different and certainly... More

I went to Chamberlain square one morning but found the place barricaded due to some demolition work at one of the adjoining buildings. It was early and no work was on at the time so I decided to sneak a peek. The square, named after a former mayor of Birmingham is bounded by some interesting buildings. The centerpiece is the... This square is vast and ideal for any event. We spent our lunch breaks here, between a visit to the BMAG and the Think Tank. Our students were excited to see people and carry out their interviews for their survey about the important historic facts of the city.

I love Birmingham - and especially old Birmingham; the first of places my late Father used to talk about visiting when he was a boy. The civic heart of Birmingham always reminds me of him. Though the city is vibrant and dynamic, some things have remained a constant over the past 40 or do years and the Council House and... More

Outside the old Birmingham Library and Museum, Chamberlain Square id mostly used as a cut through to Broad Street and somewhere to sit and eat lunch or watch the world go by. Really comes in to its own during the events like the summer beach of the German Christmas Market.

Always something going on around the square. Great to stop for 5 minutes if you want a break from all the hussle and bustle of Birmingham.

This square is located between the more well regarded Victoria Square and the Paradise Forum shopping precinct, through which you can access Centenary Square. Many people treat this square as a thoroughfare, but I recommend that you stop and take a look. The façades of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Birmingham Town Hall are quite beautiful and although... More

This is a beautiful little square. It's surrounded on all sides by good architecture, except for the Adrian boult hall. This concrete box is due for demolition. The Birmingham Central Library is on this square. Most people think this building is ugly but it's one of the best brutalist buildings in the country. English Heritage have tried to give it... More

Chamberlain Square is the small square you walk through between Victoria and Centenary Squares in Birmingham city centre. It is a bit forgotten and is in desperate need of a redesign, which luckily it is getting in 2015. Bordering the square you have the Museum and Art Gallery, in a lovely Victorian building with the towering 'Big Brum' clocktower attached.... More
