Please read. Guy’s Cliffe is a stunning, fascinating ruin, steeped in history, in a unique location. There are very few such interesting sites. It is *private property*. You can visit on an official open day on the property. You can also visit the site on Paranormal activity nights. These are the only times you can visit. Please do not just turn up at the site.

My daughter and I attended a Paranormal Eye event here last night. It was a wonderful evening full of surprises and paranormal activity!!!! The location was easy to find and was very atmospheric. Guys Cliffe is a wonderful old building. Full of nooks and crannies. It oozed charm and felt it had been lived by so many in its time. The curator, Andy, supported us throughout the evening. We could tell that he loved the place. We would love to go back in the summer to have a good look around the extensive grounds. The evening was a great success and we would thoroughly recommend anyone who is interested in the after life to go. It was a brilliant evening. Well done to Paranormal Eye for a fantastic evening.

Guy's Cliffe House is only open on certain days - so check before travelling - but it is well worth a visit. Although the main house is in a very unsafe and dilapidated condition, the site oozes history - notably the 9th century hero Sir Guy who came home to live in secret in a cave within the house walls, and his tragic wife who threw herself to her death from the cliff when she realised that he'd been living so close without her knowledge. There are lots of damp and dark nooks and crannies, and a very 'spooky' feel to the whole place. Very atmospheric! This is also the lodge for the local Freemasons and so it was very interesting to be able to get an insight into this generally quite secretive organisation. The gardens are beautiful, and the Saxon Mill pub (just down the road) is another gem worth visiting whilst you are there.

Decided to pay this place a quick visit after dusk. To say it has a bad feel to it would be an understatement. Felt very uneasy on the approach up towards the house and certainly had a sense of being watched. The fluttering of birds in the trees didn't help!

I love ruins and this is a great one. The surrounding grounds are beautiful and being made more so by a handful of charming volunteers I met. Do check if the site is open in advance because I think access if very limited at the moment.
